I'm a beginner and for a simpler G practice I did it without using the 3rd finger and it sounded slightly the same as the one you showed us. I'll practice using all 4 fingers when I get better. Thanks for the tutorial.
thank you for sharing this. I first learned this song in a minor, and i'm really happy to now know it it e minor. it makes it easier to transition this song on to my banjo. now i can play on both instruments.
Hi James fantastic work again, Just discovering your lessons at the mpment.. Top lessons, great pace, good tipps and very well structured..a great voice too. Simply a very good teacher:) Thank you very much:) Best wishes from Germany.
Just watched this video. Looks great amd simple, I'm going to start practicing tonight. I'm new to the guitar so forgive if the answer to this question pertains to technique or something but why am I setting my fingers up to play Em when I am only plucking the open strings on that chord? In other words why am I pressing string 4 and 5 if I am not plucking string 4 and 5? Could I not just remove all fingers and pluck 6, 3, 2, 1, 2, 3?
Two reasons: 1) You might accidentally brush one of those strings. If you're holding the shape, the note will work... if you're not, the note will clash with the Em sound. 2) In the future you'll learn a pattern that uses one of those strings, and it's best to keep your technique consistent... your brain hears Em, your fingers press that shape, your picking hand can pick any pattern and the notes will all be there.
Thank you thank you for this video with tabs that i hope to print of so that I can practice along with you( I haven't mastered playing barre chords yet)❤❤❤❤💯💯🕊✌️🙏🇬🇧🇯🇲
Thank you. I'm aboard. (I've seen many takes on this song, and most revolve around C, Am, F, and G. Is your chord progression "made-to-order" for finger-picking?) Thank you again.
Thanks James, great lesson today. I was wondering what make and model, your guitar is in the video? Very warm and clear sounding. What wood was used in the making of it?
It's a Larrivee LV-05. I think it's Spruce, but I could be mistaken. It's a very well made guitar, which is now produced in Canada+USA, (they make half of it in each country). I also have a made-in-Vancouver 1st-gen Larrivee that is amazing.
I love your lessons and i really love seeing people playing a guitar though i haven't been opportuned to play it, wish to learn more of it when i get a guitar of my own and please is there a difference between a normal guitar and a bass guitar? Thanks
Two reasons. First, you might accidentally pluck one of those strings, and this will make sure it still sounds good. Second, you want to be consistent. Your brain hears "Em" and your hand makes the shape... it's beneficial to building your ear/muscle memory.
Hey there, unfortunately I am no longer legally offer the chord chart. In fact no UA-cam guitar teacher is allowed to - the copyright companies are cracking down hard. Boo
Doesn’t quite sound right…..?? Isn’t the main bit c to am? Think the em comes later and there’s a bit where it doesn’t sit for the full 6 on one chord.
C to Am would put it in the key of C (like when Jeff Buckley plays it). This super-easy version is in G, where G to Em is the equivalent movement (I to vi, if you're into the theory side of it). Recently I've had the luxury of having a friend proof-read all my transcriptions, so I'm confident that this one is accurate. Thank you for your input! Take care!
Any other classic fingerpickers that you'd like to see? I'm working on "More Than Words" but that's it... any suggestions?
can’t help falling in love :)
btw, thank you so much!! ❤️
"Carolina in my mind" maybe? I dunno if that's a fingerpicking song but i would love to learn that. That or any James Taylor era song
@@mayukhbanerjee1147 Yes, James Taylor did a lot of finger picking.
Any Billy Strings song I don’t think he has any slow songs but he is fantastic as are you.

Super. 👍
I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
Psalm:104:33
Why hold the strings for the Em chord when finger picking Hallelujah your not playing them ? Thanks.
Two reasons. First, you might accidentally pluck one of those strings, and this will make sure it still sounds good. Second, you want to be consistent. Your brain hears "Em" and your hand makes the shape... it's beneficial to building your ear/muscle memory.
Why do do you have to hold the the strings for the Em chord when you not playing them ? When finger picking Hallelujah.
I would like to have a lesson on hand strumming.
for the em chord you just have to do the fingerstyling because you do not strum any of the strings that are being held down.
Show 👍🇧🇷
Amen hy❤👈
Can I pick this song with a plectrum
nice
Thanks

I'm still looking for that "secret chord"😀

Excelente profesor, genial. gracias!
This song was written in C major, not G.
I can teach the song of the spirit of Hani so that I want to praise God Jesus and also want to be a child of God Jesus, it's funny
