      Might be on the type and amount of mulch. 2 inches of chipped hardwood is different that a quarter inch of dried grass. But I would say rain will wash it down so I am not sure why they say that.

      I am growing tomatoes and peppers in my greenhouse with shade cloth on top. It gets up hotter than 105 in there sometimes and they are all growing fine. I think it’s a good idea to shade them in that hot of a climate. Just my two cents.

      It shouldn't. Enough sun should get through. The shade cloth is needed as the soil will heat up and plants stop producing. I think you are good. There are different blockages you can buy like 30% to 70% so you might have to experiment.

    Hi Gary, I was hoping you could share some advice about frost damage on tomatoes. We've had some frost which is unusual for this time of year and my tomato leaves have black tips. I first thought it was a phosphate deficiency but now I think it's just frost damage. Do you expect that they will recover or should I just replant?

    I have tomatoes growing when it was raining here I was using dry fertilizer and since it’s nice and sunny in Texas I am using liquid! Is it wrong!!

    • @Corey87
      @Corey87 3 роки тому

      No worry, it is not wrong. Typically the weather doesnt play a role in a dry/wet fertilizer regiment.
      Dry fertilizer is usually a "slow release" fertilizer, that can take weeks, months, and even sometimes years to break down in the soil, and become nutrients that are available to your plants' roots.
      Not needed, but Always good, to water in dry amendments thoroughly after applying.
      Wet fertilizers on the other hand, are generically "fast-release" fertilizers, and can be absorbed much more speedily by the roots. Wet fertilizers can be applied just before a good rainfall, if you wish, bot it's not necessary, as you usually mix in wet fertilizer (liquid, water soluble, fast release) with water and drench in everything good with both food and drink simultaneously. I hope this helps!

    Am concerned about... green lush plants that I've got coming on, but not seeing a ton of blossoms yet. (Too much nitrogen?)

    Have any recommendations on this, Gary?

      It can be too much nitrogen but the flowers do show up. I use fish emulsion a 5-1-1 soluble and Any organic around a 5-5-5. Yours is really high. That 17 nitrogen will grow leaves. I might say your plants have enough and just let them go for a few weeks.

    others may not...
    maybe include WHY u wanna use a high potassium and mid range phosphorus later in the growth stage...
    i love ur videos but find they are getting quite boring cause they dont explain stuff. its just a do this now type of deal... i am no means trying to cause "drama". feedback is feedback.
    for example;
    potassium: once pollinated helps fruit develop + fruit size..
    phosphorus: starts buds/root growth/converts the nuits into growth
    nitrogen: promotes green growth....
