ALL FAMILIES NEED TO HAVE A SECRET CODE WORD or PHRASE THAT IS NEVER WRITTEN DOWN, ONLY SHARED VERBALLY.. If the scammer can't provide it, hang up and call the police or FBI depending on the situation or if there is someone else in the household, have them call the authorities while you keep them on the phone.

You’re not alone! Me too!! I don’t open for no one anymore unless I’m expecting someone and even then I check the keyhole. Especially being a woman home alone. If I walk to take the trash out I always lock my door and walk the trash all the way out in my apartment building as well. Seen too many crime cases where no forced entry due to leaving the door open doing a mundane task. Too many freaks now days especially in my area.

Exactly!I haven't opened my door to anyone I wasn't expecting. You never know who's on the other side, or if there's more than 1 person, or if they are armed. If you must open the door be certain to yell, "Keep your seat, Ralph, I'll get the door!" then don't answer the door.....whoever it was/is will walk away------but, DON"T be curious and then open the damned door!!!!

There is a scam on fb I have seen with two different friends on fb. They post a bunch of stuff for sale because someone in their family just passed away and they say for them to hold the item the have to have a deposit… I messaged the one lady because I knew her fairly well and I could tell by the conversation that it wasn’t her.

NEVER EVER EVER open your door to someone you do not know, DO NOT care if they say it is the police, legitimate police will understand!!! I grew up in NY and learned this very early on ... I in fact had a legitimate office come to my door very shortly after moving in to my present home, he showed me a badge and I said. "I do not care what you show me, I am not opening my door' ,, I was alone at the time (even if I was not alone) and I called the local precinct.. he was in fact an officer, and the officer on the phone said that I did the right thing anyway

The fake cop one is the most scary because if they have a fake police car/siren/light they can pull you over, and in order to ask for their badge information, you would have to roll down the window. If they have a gun, they could easily take advantage of you. I hate that cops drive unmarked cars sometimes.

    • @NothingIsLittle
      @NothingIsLittle 5 місяців тому +8

Look up your area's non-emergency police line and call to confirm. Don't pull over until you are in a well lit area, with other people if you can. This is legally allowed (at least in my area) and the person on the non-emergency line will tell the officer, if they're legitimate, that you're not being willfully non-compliant.

You don't have to stop immediately for an unmarked. Turn on your signal, and drive to a public area, and pull over there, opening your window 1", while on the phone with 9-1-1.

There's also been a huge increase in very suspicious social media ads - I keep getting shown ads for HUGE cat trees that all look the same from a handful of different pop-up accounts/shops and these huge cat trees (that would normally be at least $100 just for the product) are like $50 including shipping. If it looks too good to be true, it's too good to be true. Those shops also tend to censor the comments of people who have figured them out, so usually a good way to spot them is to see reactions to people's comments; generally people who are on to the shop will "sad react" to people's comments that they've placed an order because she shop can't remove those.

A couple of these I had not heard of so props for that. Regarding the IRS scam, if someone with a foreign accent calls you claiming to be from the IRS, and demanding you pay them in gift cards, that should send off more than one or two alarm bells. Better yet a phone call from the IRS should be a red flag since the IRS will never call you.

He then put the “police” on the phone who explained everything and his bail was $5000. She went to the bank. 🤦🏽‍♀️ The smart people at the bank had her call me. I called my son. He was fine and at work. Narrowly escaped this scam. Even though she knows my son would never not want to call his parents! It was the crying that got her. Then they had his name because she said it. Please share or show this video to your elderly relatives/neighbours too! They are often the target of many scams!
There was a scam in my country a few years back. Thieves dressed as police officers would come to people's houses (usually older people) and say they just arrested someone who was breaking into the neighbourhood and asking the people if nothing of theirs was stolen. Some elderly people would then show them where their valuables were and while one of the "officers" was distracting and talking to them, the other "officer" would steal whatever they could.
There was a time a few years ago where I regularly had calls from Jack, Jenny and Mike from Windows who kept on telling me there was something wrong with my computer. The calls were always in broken English.

Thank God, we told her about these types of scams- sometimes they will use a person's voice if they get it when you answer a scam call (never say yes or other key words- better yet never pick up an unknown call). Thank you for putting this video out!!! I just got a text message from a “hotmail” email claiming to be the USPS. They said my package had an insufficient address and needed me to click a link to confirm my information. I did not click on the link and although i am an online shopper and do have packages I’m waiting for, I know the USPS never sends messages like this. I’ve missed deliveries, etc.. in the past and know you have to go to the post office to get it. Plus, I track all my orders and so far everything is being received just fine.

I received a phone call from Microsoft telling me that my computer is somehow affecting and creating a problem to their program. In order for the problem to be restored they asked me to turn on my computer and they would give me instructions on how the problem should be solved. Right away I told them that I dont have a computer, and immediately they hung up. the number they called from was over seas.

I just received a phising call from a local pharmacy! I almost answered because the caller ID looked so similar to the name of the pharmacy but first part of the word is in short form. After letting it go to voicemail I assumed it would be a generic robotic message. But it was an actual person who left a message addressing my name and indicated which pharmacy they are calling from (she said the name incorrectly and was not even the same pharmacy as indicated on caller ID) and she goes on saying if I had any questions to call them back without leaving a return number. I did research and found the number doesn’t exist and is not the same number as my local pharmacy I go to. I can see someone getting scammed if they coincidentally went to the pharmacy and received a so called phone call from them! So scary how these scams are getting more sophisticated 😢

My husband's grandfather had a scam call that his grandson was in jail and they needed him to send money for bail. It really shook him up, he was very upset and thankfully he didn't give them any money and hung up. He called a family member to see what had happened and realized it was a scam. This happens a lot too, the scammers target the elderly with this one :(

The last time a scammer called me, I started laughing and told them to go to hell. They then told ME to go to hell and hung up on ME! It was awesome and they haven't called again!!!
OR- you can play with them and play dumb, give all wrong information, and just waste THEIR time! So much fun!

Be Careful talking to anyone because they may be trying to record your voice. Many of the numbers they are calling you from are spoofed especially if they are from your area code. I've had them call with an AI bot asking if it's you when you answer they are trying to get you to say yes. We keep a land line for Dr apts etc because we don't always have our cell phones on. thieves get your number from security breeches, or even Google searches. I've been targeted by scammers from every direction. Anymore I'm afraid to even send a bill payment to the Dr office when it shows up on my email.
