    I❤B A but nowadays under any reason whatsoever one shouldn’t pay more than a US$ 1,000 monthly for a very nice 1 bedroom apartment in a great area.

    • @ljchosen

      I think so too especially now that I have lived here long enough. But unfortunately, a lot of the people I know pay more than 1k (mostly foreigners) for their flat a month. If you look at Airbnb today, there are still rentals that go beyond 1k. Although my next flat was only $600 around the same area, but a studio without amenities.

      That price here it would be in puerto madero or a luxury tower.. but you get nice places por 450/500/600$ here 100 dolares are 100.000 pesos but also is not so much money..

    It is quite expensive for Argentina. But I guess that if you only speak English, the minute the realize you are a foreigner they will double the price. They did on my face in BA once. You can get that same unit for half the price thru a local friend.

      Definitely expensive for Argentina standard. I got this apartment through Airbnb. And yes, I didn’t have any friends to help me and the Facebook rentals don’t have this type of apartment. Also they require other documents I can’t provide like a local ID. But I did find a way cheaper apartment after here that’s I think good for the price to apartment ratio.

      Most banks require a social security number, which non-citizens don't have. This is the most common problem that foreigners realize. However, larger banks such as US Bank, TD Bank, Bank of America, Chase, and Wells Fargo will allow non-residents to set up a checking account and a savings account. Although they are more likely to scrutinize dollar accounts.

    Thank you for your video! Any pointers on flights? Is there an airline you prefer? I will be flying to Argentina from California. I would appreciate any help. Million Thanks!

    • @ljchosen
      @ljchosen  Рік тому +1

      Hey, you're welcome! I took an Avianca flight with a lay-over in Bogota (1 and 45 minutes lay-over) but my flight was delayed, so it was a rush to transfer to the next flight. Although, they know and waited for every passenger connecting to Buenos Aires. Service was good, not the best not the worst either. I was lucky to be upgraded to business class because of the delay.
      So, Avianca can be an option for you from California . Just watch out for the lay-over times, I'd suggest longer than 2 hours to be safe. You still have to go through security check during your lay-over.
      You also have AirMexico, COPA and LATAM from LA. I've flew with them multiple times and I feel like they have the same service as Avianca. Also in the affordable category.
      Also I think there are American airline companies like United, AA, etc. They tend to be more expensive.
      And btw, check your flights if they offer free food. Coz depending on the flight and ticket you bought, food is not free. But they sell it on the flight. I had a cold ham and cheese sandwich as a meal on a business seat, that's it. lol
      I hope this helps a bit.

      I looked into it also on why the price was that high. Unlike almost everything here, rental for foreigners in BA (short-term) is almost tripled especially if you get it through Airbnb. One way to get the “local” pricing is going through the DNI route (you have to get a local ID) and use the local rental agencies or sites. I have a friend (local) who lives here in BA, she has a modern high rise building, 1 bed room with amenities and her rent is $800. I looked at Airbnb on the same building and it’s $1750.

      @ljchosen  Рік тому +1

      @@Dave-qi3ft You need to be a permanent resident (apply for a residency) to quality for the DNI.
      All those foreigners who are entitled to enter and stay in Argentina can start the procedure to issue the ID, “Documento Nacional de Identidad” (DNI) for foreigners, in Argentina.
      The DNI can be issued by two means:
      - “Por ventanilla unica”: This way, you can start the residency and the DNI procedures together. This can be done in the head office entitled by the “Dirección Nacional de Migraciones” (DNM) [Migration office].
      - The traditional way: This way is for those who wish to take the DNI and their residency is already done.
