Shin Lim is by far the most remarkable slight of hand, close up, card magician I've seen. Regardless of how it's done, his work appears effortless & supernatural.
Personally I'd prefer audience interaction. But then again it's more of a stage act, so I do understand why he does it the way he does. It's just my personal preference
There are tricks that you can know and when you see them preformed, they are nice but boring. Even knowing most of Shins card tricks and his slights, I could never get bored, because trying to practice to his level is frustrating and yet so fun trying..
@@aleksilaine2758 i know u commented 2 years ago but my guess is that he's pulling back a piece of black cloth that reveals the cards. The illusion is that he's just making cards appear out of nowhere, and the shadow of his fingers give the illusion that his hand is hovering over the cards, but I believe his hand is just angled upwards and with the lighting it casts a shadow over the cards while his palm drags a piece of black cloth to reveal the cards.
Shin Lim is the 2015 Magic World Champion of Card magic from what I've read He is a performer and a good one. He does say that it takes very strong and flexible hands and fingers to do what he does.
He did a very similar routine last night on Penn and Teller fool us last night. During his intro he explained that he was asked to come back during season 2 but, couldn't because of an accident that cut 2 of the tendons in his hand. He stated that he thought his magic career was over. Shin lim is a great card magician. I've shown his Fool Us routine to people who don't care for magic and they couldn't look away and were in awe. Thanks for the video man, keep up the work
I actually really like his presentation, I think it gives you a greater appreciation for his sleight of hand, as he's not explaining what he's going to do, he just does it. I prefer it to the sort of "pick a card any card" type vocal tricks and I really like all the vanishes and colour changing he does. With the music it really feels magical and I think in a day and age where a lot of card moves are common knowledge it's actually a benefit to be able to leave people where they can't ask questions. I think if the magician has to explain to you as well as show you what he's doing, then it's more psychological and less magical, which I really love because I want to be left dumbfounded.
6:13 your expression the sign of utter astonishment 😂😂 love it it's nice to see a magician like your self appreciating another fellow magician's talent 👌 and let's face it Shin is one hell of a talent 😲
Black felt table, black felt backed cards, and a controlled camera angle and lighting. Notice how he slides his hands to the back of the table. I'd sure like to see behind that table. Regardless, he has AMAZING skills that cannot be denied or laughed off. He's incredible at what he does.
he said it well, it's a differant performance (stage performance) Black table with different angle camera's and only 1 or 2 people around him, mostly actors or crewmembers. It's still very impressive for us normal people but offcourse we all know it's still slight of hand. He doesn't break him, on the contrary he respects his hard work and great performance. Keep it up Shin!
Really enjoyed this reaction video. Your amazed and perplexed responses were great. Of all the videos I've watched this is by far the most mystified I've seen you. I find myself watching your reactions more than the performances; which i suppose is the reason for the videos in the first place. It's very cool to see a fellow artist (not me) appreciate and give props to another performer.
Eduard, it is all sleight and the lighting and the table, There is a reason why it is black and dimly lit. ;) I can't wait to see you on the national stage. You have my respect, anyone that has passion for the art, well, earns my respect. I love your vids, I still have a passion for magic, having done it for quite awhile, but keep up the good work, I cannot wait to see you blow up, and you will. I would bank on it. Man, your vids are addicting, but that is the magician in me, I love this shit!
At the beginning when you see the aces and then the picture cards appear. You never see the backs of the picture cards. The backs are the same colour as the table. When the Aces disappear, he is using magnetic cards. But you have to give credit for his sleight of hand.
the pad where he put the card face down is warm or hot thats why he always put it face down to fully vanish the ink and some of the part of the pad is cold so he can reveal back the card. Here some link to it ua-cam.com/video/eWTa01xhMb0/v-deo.html of proof how the ink works. And I think he use the vanishing ink to cards or a custom print cards.
I love the commentary, but he does this routine with a judge from AGT. She keeps her hand over the A's the entire time but he still manages the 4 under her hand. It's absolutely the slickest thing I've ever seen.
Wow. In a world so full of insecurity and jealousy and the nearly epidemic need to cripple others in order to be the one to offer them crutches it’s so awesome to see someone (you) happier to offer wings to those climbing mountains instead of figuring out a way to send them crashing to the ground. Kudos to you sir.
The black felt table mat is not featureless, he knows exactly what the camera angle is, and pay attention to his off-hand, especially when he doesn't make a big deal of letting you see his palm. These may be pretty obvious, but they are the biggest hints. The incredibly subtle slights of hand are what make this incredible.
he makes the cards red with a gimmick deck. (I believe it's called brain eraser) where half the deck is red and the other half is blue. so if you spread it to the left, it will spread blue, and if you spread it to the right it will spread right. you can set it up however you need for the trick, but that's how it was done.
A lot of people say he doesn't do close up, but he does another routine on Penn and Teller with audience members sitting at the table, so I don't think it's a trick table and I don't think he's dropping cards at his feet. He seems to manage a mercury fold and doing stuff with his sleeves, but sometimes he misdirects like he's palming and then shows his palm, so something else happens. In the other routine he makes a marker disappear and P&T can't even figure out how he does that. Not a magician but he performs with people at his elbows and gets closeup awards so it seems like closeup to me.
You see I'm not really a fan of conventional card magic or coin magic, it's sort of the escape magic of today's era, although I understand why veterans still like it. I think a lot of stage magic has lost its touch as well, people like David Copperfield etc, those types of massive stage illusions got ruined by the Masked Magician and everyone else who followed him. If anything it's gave magic a big nudge and made people step up, and it's because of that we have guys like Shin Lim or Kostya Kimlat who really push the boundaries of slight of hand and keep magic relevant in modern times, even when we have the ability to now analyse a routine in detail over and over.
People actually love to see a skill performer. Sleight of hand is one of them. Like Shin Lim simply using cards to show people series of "sleight of hand" arts and people love it because he manage to perform it smoothly entertaining.
My guess for SOME parts of it: Since he does not do this "close up" he has a reason ^^ I'd guess he uses the super absorbant cloth and he has the first deck of cards on top of the table but hidden underneath a cloth of the same fabric. With this super absorbant cloth you have NO reflections you cannot see if there is a pile on the table or not. It always looks flat. When he fans out the deck he "just" fans them out and keeps the covering cloth in his hands to discard it later. The same might be used when he turns 1 card into 3 because it does not look like a back to back number - this really seems to be a single card he starts with. As an alternative one of the cards could be coated with the same material which would be easier, I guess, than a cloth.
Shin Lim is the GOAT of close up card magic never seen anybody as good as he is. I like his music too. The second song is Outro my M83 can anyone tell me who is doing the first one? Very beautiful I must say.
I've been watching u for ages.i would live to see you put together a 20 mn video of a performance from yourself..coz I'm telling you.your that good.i really think u should make your own show/performance.just for fun and talent
Wow. I mean...I *may* have caught one of the dozens of moves that he did. And I could be wrong about that. You've mentioned in reply to me before that you're familiar with the kind of smoke effects used (with which I am not familiar, so it still blows me away). But, like, I compared this in my head to the Will Tsai coin matrix that was the first reaction I watched from you. And while I'm only maybe 70% sure I know how that was done, at least I was able to think of a way to do it. At first I thought that Shin Lim's trick used at least one of the same techniques I had in mind for Will Tsai, but by the end of the performance I knew that couldn't be the case. This performance? I'm am absolutely 0% sure that I know how it was done. This is the kind of magic that I love -- and hate. I love it because it genuinely fools me. I also hate it because I can't think of a single method with which to pull it off. But obviously, the love of feeling that wonder that I so rarely feel these days far outweighs my disdain at not being able to figure it out. I went to the Magic Castle in Hollywood once, and much of the audience was magicians. And if you can't fool a fellow magician, you probably won't be performing there. You called Shin Lim "high-level," and while I can't argue that, I'd go as far as "next-level" or even "unprecedented-level" for him. I was truly astounded. Beats the heck out of David Blaine trying to catch a bullet in his mouth (whether he succeeds or fails).
I believe it is a special deck, half of each card is red and blue on the back, and with the number and white in the front. So he always show them the same way and only shows half of each card when showing the deck. Of course this requires lots of practice!
There were a few mistakes in there but overall he's pretty clean considering how many tricks are involved and it doesn't take away from all the things he does flawlessly.
That wasn't a mistake lol, that just shouldn't have been in the routine. Not sure why his plan was to physically bring the cards down with his hand instead of just dropping it.
He didn't drop nor grabbed a new deck. I believe he used the cooler trick. Place the cooler on the bottom and when he hand comes over the deck he flips the deck the with other hand. Notice how he also holds the cards on his right hand. You can tell he's cupping the bottom so the cards won't slip out. Look up "cooler deck switch" to know what I'm saying.
Just FACE IT. HE IS LEAGUES AHEAD OF YOU. HE IS A PIANIST. HE IS ALSO ASIAN WITH A SPIRITUAL MINDSET. HE DESERVED TO WIN. I AM 66 YRS OLD. I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT CARDS. I HAVE THREE GROWN SONS, WITH THREE GRANDSONS, AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. I HAVE EAST INDIAN FRIENDS WITH CHRISTIAN AND HINDU RELIGION. SO THEY HAVE BOTH. THIS GUY HAS A SPIRIT THAT IS WITH HIM THAT IS JUST AMASING. HE HAS A FRIEND WITH CANCER AND PLANS TO DONATE SOME OF IT. THAT IS WHO HE IS. THAT IS HIS TRUE MAGIC. PEACE.
YES! Leagues and MILES ahead of him. I cringed each time this amateur bedroom magician would agree to the moves almost like he was giving some kind of fake approval, whilst having no idea how they were being done. It's quite embarassing (and rewarding to me) when someone so full of himself gets shamed off of his imaginary pedastal when confronting True Greatness, that is, Shin Lim :)
Hey, Ed! I'm new here and I subbed already. I am quite interested in that cool trick you made in your intro! I would love to learn it for a performance on a very "special occasion", and I think I can make it memorable if I can perform that to a "Special somebody". May I ask for the name of the trick? Or maybe, is there a tutorial somewhere? I'll be waiting for your reply! ^^
You do know his hands are what make it visually enticing he’s quite extreme he hurt his hand practicing but he kept going at it since it’s his passion tbh I prefer his magic over criss angel’s
This is the dude that fooled Penn and Teller and Penn though he had him and when the result from the judges was NO - Penn did not have him The big guy got kindda Pissy. I tell there has to be a colony of Chinese monks up in the Himalayas popping these guys out like a factory. ANY contest they enter they win. Oh if you want your head BLOWN ! Shim Lim has a routine where he puts roses petals back into a complete rose , the brings it to his face blows on iy , you see (you expect cigarette) but the smoke freezes the rose solid. his last move is to just crush it to powder.
7:34 see where he makes the intentional error to show that it’s not magic? If you’re summoning demons or what not you wouldn’t want it revealed anyway. Magic is best done so there is always a way to explain it.
Mark Boston doesn't matter if you catch it or not. He's so damn fast you still have to tip your cap to him. Even if you see every move, you just shake your head at how fast he is.
He is pushing the cards behind a glass that is in front of the table, it looks like the cards disappear but they just being toss behind the mirror and they are not visible to the audience
I Can tell You thru PERSONAL EXPERIENCE that Thing Unknown In Science like Telekinesis is Very REAL. This logically implies that Reality , or What Makes up Reality still Unknown.
Now I understand why you thought he did the same thing twice on Fool Us. The first time he was on the show he did something different but you saw this routine before watching his second appearance and because that time he mostly performed what he does in this video you thought that he did the same thing both times he was on the show.
great reaction dude and you should defo check out shin's effects on his website shinlimmagic.com he has some amazing effects and if you are interested to know then shin will be performing on penn and teller fool us this Thursday night so you might want to check out that as well ☺
Shin Lim is by far the most remarkable slight of hand, close up, card magician I've seen. Regardless of how it's done, his work appears effortless & supernatural.
Wonderful
Have you seen Eric Chien?
Dude... the silence makes the routine. No words could improve on this act, it could only loose its class...
Personally I'd prefer audience interaction. But then again it's more of a stage act, so I do understand why he does it the way he does. It's just my personal preference
That's what demon magic is
*lose
i bought 52 shades v3 this week and now that i know how the tricks are done i'm even more impressed by how creative this guy really is
Antonio Benetti does the version 3 teach how to do that opening thing Shin did in this performance (when he produced the deck out of no where)
Aleksi Laine yeah and its all very creative.
There are tricks that you can know and when you see them preformed, they are nice but boring.
Even knowing most of Shins card tricks and his slights, I could never get bored, because trying to practice to his level is frustrating and yet so fun trying..
It doesnt show the deck reveal, but once you know the illusion, the deck reveal is not needed to be shown on video
@@aleksilaine2758 i know u commented 2 years ago but my guess is that he's pulling back a piece of black cloth that reveals the cards. its not a camera angle thing. check the AGT audition video with tyra nearby. its close up magic.
intresting to note.
wow from a non-magician comes at 5:32 while the wow from a magician comes at 5:37
Shreyas Bhatt true
some people complain.and.react because no one can beat the real magic that shin have😆😆😆😆
Shin Lim is the 2015 Magic World Champion of Card magic from what I've read

not only 2015 ;)
Neon, what other year did he win??? was it 2009?
www.shinlimmagic.com/about/
I always get amazed when watching Shin Lim
He is elegant, and so calm on the stage
But, I never watch him play a close up magic...
Yeah, he doesn't do a lot of close up but the stuff he does is cool
if you as a magcian blown your mind watching Shin lin.. What do you think when we watch it.. He the real devil
He did a very similar routine last night on Penn and Teller fool us last night. shouldn't Shin Lim's video be the larger video?
ghostwolfyeah not really cause the video it’s called magician REACTS, so its focus on his reaction.
You should watch the original video dude, this is not "shin lim's video posting on my channel for you to able to watch it"
I love watching your vids. I like how u open your vids with a magic trick everytime. Keep doin it buddy and thanks for all the vids
Do you have any idea how he made the deck appear out of nowhere in the beginning?
Thank you my man! Will do :) No I don't haha
edwardvanhalen123456 yes!
6:13 your expression the sign of utter astonishment 😂😂 love it
it's nice to see a magician like
your self appreciating another fellow magician's talent 👌
and let's face it Shin is one hell of a talent 😲
I like watching magicians react to other magicians, nice video dude!
Shin Lim is the most extravagant talented magician I’ve seen in this planet....
because theres no patter to distract, you focus on the magic and that makes it all the more impressive because you still dont catch the moves - bravo
It didn’t sit well with me to hear you criticize his style. He’s unique and extraordinary.
Patrick Reagan me too man
Black felt table, black felt backed cards, and a controlled camera angle and lighting. Notice how he slides his hands to the back of the table. I'd sure like to see behind that table.
Regardless, he has AMAZING skills that cannot be denied or laughed off. He's incredible at what he does.
I am convinced he asked the devil for these powers
Archangel Creed here we go. Injecting superstition to the weak minded
Jerrymc1975 looks like you started the weak minded trend.
i saw a video revealing production of smoke
Jerrymc1975 he is right fool.
he said it well, it's a differant performance (stage performance)
Black table with different angle camera's and only 1 or 2 people around him, mostly actors or crewmembers.
Thank you! Means a lot. Yeah this is definitely a high level routine.
Eduard, it is all sleight and the lighting and the table, There is a reason why it is black and dimly lit. ;) I can't wait to see you on the national stage. You have my respect, anyone that has passion for the art, well, earns my respect. Thank you, really means a lot! Just keep an eye out, you'll see me here and there pretty soon :)
Good to see other magicians giving props! U da man bro!
At the beginning when you see the aces and then the picture cards appear. You never see the backs of the picture cards. The backs are the same colour as the table. When the Aces disappear, he is using magnetic cards. But you have to give credit for his sleight of hand.
You should never reveal what you think
He did it on Ellen with people sitting at the table and on AMERICA'S GOT TALENT
First time seeing you mesmerized in a performance like that Ed!!! Anyway stay lit always mate!
Yeah it's a good one! Haha think you, likewise :)
I love how you are so enthusiastic about being as mystified as the rest of us.
the pad where he put the card face down is warm or hot thats why he always put it face down to fully vanish the ink and some of the part of the pad is cold so he can reveal back the card. Here some link to it ua-cam.com/video/eWTa01xhMb0/v-deo.html of proof how the ink works. And I think he use the vanishing ink to cards or a custom print cards.
Sitting here knowing how it all done and is still impressed
I like that you do a trick before starting the reaction. Hope to see more complex stuff in the future.
He said he combined music with magic and not much or no talking at all. This will let you dramatically concentrate on the execution of the magic.
His routine has changed a lot since then, This is the version he made within a day
He was even on "Fool Penn and Teller"... not once, but I believe twice!
Kudos to you sir.
shin lim has an amulet called eye of agamotto, that is the best way to explain it. wow magic
Rachel Wilson how did he make the cards red?
Rachel Wilson there is also a pile of cards at his feet right behind the table by the end of the trick ;)
Rachel Wilson interesting. Do you know how shaun farquar does his card trick on pen and teller?
he makes the cards red with a gimmick deck. (I believe it's called brain eraser) where half the deck is red and the other half is blue. so if you spread it to the left, it will spread blue, and if you spread it to the right it will spread right. you can set it up however you need for the trick, but that's how it was done.
anom google invisible deck
Amazingly talented. Gimmick or not the guy is unbelievably clean
Very true!
7:45 the deck disappeared from thin air, how is this even possible? He is a wizard...
another cool reaction brooo! congrats for the 5k subscribers! keep crushing!
Thank you my man! Of course, the grind never stops!
No doubt one of the cleanest in close up magicians.
This is stage, not close up. And I definitely think there are more skilled close up magicians, but he's definitely up there!
because he is real magician . never saw like him
You see I'm not really a fan of conventional card magic or coin magic, it's sort of the escape magic of today's era, although I understand why veterans still like it. lmao love your reactions on this one, everytime i think holy shit! you blurt it out too
Haha great minds think alike :)
He has performed with people sat right at the table!
I'm with Gale- Shin is truly a magician's magician.
your Intro Trick was Awesome!
haha thank you :)
was crazy perfomance, the only thing i didn't like at 7:32 u can see him actually dropping the cards and grabbing a new deck.
Eh some things are easier to catch than others
Easy mistake.lol
There were a few mistakes in there but overall he's pretty clean considering how many tricks are involved and it doesn't take away from all the things he does flawlessly.

"High Shit Slight Of Hands" meaning daemon assistance ..... yea we know that >>>> HE DID NOT FOOL US

Oh if you want your head BLOWN !
Shim Lim has a routine where he puts roses petals back into a complete rose , the brings it to his face blows on iy , you see (you expect cigarette) but the smoke freezes the rose solid. his last move is to just crush it to powder.
hahaha yeah he's high level. Lots of good magicians everywhere haha. Oh wow I'll check it out!
Eighth wonder of the World ~~> Shin Lim
The total Black Board makes it possible 👌🏻 Hope it helps you to figure it out.
The blanket he's using underneath the cards has a bunch of cards underneath it what you could switch out is pretty easy and obvious
Shin Lim is out of this world good!!!!
Hes a lvl 60 warlock
7:34 see where he makes the intentional error to show that it’s not magic? If you’re summoning demons or what not you wouldn’t want it revealed anyway. Magic is best done so there is always a way to explain it.
He works VERY close to the edge of the table . I am sure his feet are covered with discarded cards : )
Mark Boston Ha!
Yep!
Ed, You are a magician. Shin Lim is a Wizard. He might even be a Hogwarts graduate. :)
He messed up the finishing move, right? But that's fine, everything else was so amazingly clean. His palming must be insane!
subscribed! keep the good work mate! :))

Talent&Demons
I Can tell You thru PERSONAL EXPERIENCE that Thing Unknown In Science like Telekinesis is Very REAL. This logically implies that Reality , or What Makes up Reality still Unknown.
Now I understand why you thought he did the same thing twice on Fool Us. The first time he was on the show he did something different but you saw this routine before watching his second appearance and because that time he mostly performed what he does in this video you thought that he did the same thing both times he was on the show.
Julian Leischner He never said that Shin did the same thing twice on Fool Us. He wasn't confused.
Shin uses modifications "Flip cards" :)
He’s a wizard
React to Jibrizy teaching his audience how to react. hahaha
The card dumps are a little too obvious but other than that, a really good performance
Dude i have heard he uses magnetic cards sometimes so maybe thats the secret behind appering and disapperaring cards uncertainly
Good job Autofocus... good job :D
If he invent the trick's....just bow.If not...still need a loooot of work to perform it that smooth.Nice vid :)
I know right :L
Exactly. I'm pretty sure he came up with most of those effects!
7:32 that was unnaturally sloppy for Shin.
