Pretty. The straw base seems better to me than the foam ones in case some of it does show through, but you did a great job covering all the gaps.

Yes I tried on foam before and the hot glue can melt the foam too so straw seems to be the winner!

With the wire form you will have to use a lot of hot glue. Way more than what she used.
