So what to do if your using different type faces and want to assign weights to them? Some typefaces have Regular whilst others have Book or Roman instead for the same weight, or Heavy instead of Bold etc. Since it's not possible to add several weights to one type with commas, you need to have several different weight names, but since Figma don't allow two different typefaces to share the same weight label your stuck. For instance, two different weight names for Bold. This type variable concept doesn't seem to work with real life scenarios.
It definitely has its limitations, but if you just want to use most of the weights anywhere, why don't you just set the font family using the variable, and leave the font weight open for people to use any weight they want?
@@AMDesignAndDev ? I'm not sure if I understand where your going with that. I have two different typefaces running in my application. One body and one display type. Some times I even have a third typeface for description as that is hinted especially for sizes range 11-14px for that type of small tertiary text. But let's go for two typefaces to make my example simple. So I'm identifying them as family types in the variable panel. To tie those to the weights I need to use the actual weight names of those two typefaces. To make a simple example I want to have a bold and a regular weight, but it's not called the same with the two typefaces as regular is called book and bold is called heavy with one typeface and regular and bold with the other. So I have book, heavy, regular and bold as type weights. As mentioned it's not possible to use the same weight names so it's not possible to attach the expression bold to both of these typefaces. Judging by your reply I don't think you got my dilemma. What do u mean by "Open for people to use any weight they want?" What people?! 🙄
Can you do real time slider which can stop anywhere in middle used by user, same for music player and real time map as mapsicle is not available now. Can't find these things anywhere
Can't thank you enough for making such videos. Really learning a lot as your way of explaining is completely understandable to me. Stay Blessed brother.
