Bill Malone is the greatest close up card magician today. This guy is very very talented. There may be slightly more skilled magicians or at least more flamboyant by Bill has the best presentation of anyone I know by light years. With the unfortunate death of Ricky Jay he is the leading magician of the day.
As a magician the 21 card trick always seems to be the easiest trick ever and I'm always understimated this trick, but after seeing Bill's performance, I changed my mind a lot
Saw Bill Live at Blackpool Magic convention in the UK, I learned his version of Sam the Bell hop... he is very very skilled and doesn't need trick or gimmicked cards. He says he reads through 600 replies to hecklers and such before every performance, he sure can talk the talk!
It works only for the third part of the trick. How do you explain it with all 3 packs shuffled separately in the first part and the whole 21 cards shuffled in the second part?
I know how 2 do part 1 and 3, but the part 2 is like WOW!!!!!!!!! i mean he must have known the bottom card, but i have no idea when he looked at it, it looks so legit!!!
Part 2 is actually a bit tricky. He knows the card which is at the top of those 7 cards. He then relies on Scotty shuffling them a specific way (one card by one), and not for too long. (That's also why he asks him to stop shuffling fairly quickly). It's important that they're shuffled this way because now the top card is at the bottom, and Bill knows exactly which card it is. And that's the whole trick. After that they can shuffle the cards all they want, because he already knows which card to look for.
phase 2 is pretty simple. Bill spreads the cards to see the top card of each pile. Since scotty peels off top card to bottom when he shuffles he can stop him before he puts another card under it! simple but effective
Years ago I invented my own version, with lots of shuffles and also a story to go with it. The story involved treasures offered annually at a temple with altars to three gods, with one of the treasures being a disguised magical artifact. A wandering magician steals the treasure, and the angered gods scatter it far and wide, but not before the magician casts a spell that guarantees he will someday recover the artifact. I am not going to tell UA-cam how it was done.
I'm noob but... the chosen pile's in the middle, he shuffles and cuts so the top 3 cards revealed come from the chosen pile, so when she says which pile the card is in, the trick is done. He also shuffled so 3 are on the bottom as well, so if she says "no" when he "assumes" she already saw the card, he knows it's one of the 3 bottom cards. 1 card out of 7 is remaining though... in the middle ? Would he ask a 2nd time just after he reveals the middle card ?
it's funny how you say that, because i thought the second phase was easiest, last phase only a few % harder (still easy), but the 1st phase..i must be missing something lol
He knows the exact amount of cards. When he puts out the three stacks face up. He memorizes every card. When Scotty picks up the pack, he shuffles it one-by-one. So Bill knows what card is on the bottom when he tells him to stop. Didn't matter how Scotty shuffled the stacks combined, all he needs to remember is the card Scotty chose.
@@Tumua_ You See he puts the cards face up so he knows the top card of every packet, when the spectator shuffles the cards, first he thumbs off the first card and completes his shuffle, before the spectator begins to shuffle again bill says to him stop and look at the bottom card, that is how he knew it in the performens, he said in the tape i got lucky with This but he offered diffrent methods if the spectator does not thumb off the first card, methods like peeking etc...
Briliiant ... the 2nd phase is pretty tricky but I got it.. very clever, a little too risky.. But I wont be a heckler.. if anybody wanna know how... =]
I was trying to figure out the second phase and I just couldn't get it. I understand the counting in parts one and three. Any way you can point me to an explanation?
I just figured out phase 2 and came up with a simple way to recover if it doesn't go as planned. Its simply brilliant if it does turn out, but having multiple outs prepared is important :)
It's been a year so I had to replay the video. Well all he does is spreading the piles and watching the bottom card of each one (top one when facing down). When the spectator picks a pile, he remembers the top card of the pile, in this case, the Ace of Hearts. He ask him to shuffel the pile, now he's counting on the method of the shuffeling, watch how the spectator moves the Ace of Hearts to the bottom, then Bill ask him to stop and look at the bottom card, which he knows that it's the Ace of Hearts and the rest is an act. This is why it's tricky because you cannot be sure how he will mess up the cards so you must have a plan B Good luck =]
So if Scotty wouldn't have shuffled it one-by-one, he would not be able to perform the trick? Anyway this trick must take a lot effort to remember all the cards of every pile in the right order
Phase one. Easy. Phase 2 could have been phase 3 if he shuffled them differently. Note when shuffling small packets people towns to shuffle one card at a time. If he shuffled them too much then he would have proceeded to phase 3, and only had 2 phases.
only works when you're the one shuffling it. in this trick bill lets the spectators shuffle it so unless there in on it or he uses a force, there's no way i can figure this out and your theory is wrong
Stripper deck. Chosen card rotated 180 degrees. It takes a bit of faith on Bill's part that nobody rotates any other card while they shuffle (very, very small chance -- especially if they don't know what a stripper deck is). If they do, he has a recovery (maybe two or more) planned. Since things came out right, he didn't need the recovery so we don't know what it would have been.
+Shōgun Logun No stripper needed here. Without giving the method away completely I'll just say it's more mental than technical or mechanical. After scrolling further through the comments I see the method has already been spoiled, but I'd still suggest you buy the material and learn it from the man himself. Not only is there great material in the set, but he has some great tips and suggestions to help you out if you really want to be a performer.
There are three stacks of seven. Hes placing the chosen card in the 14th position and then when he is "shuffling" hes actually counting down to the 14th card with a few beautiful flourished and cuts to throw you off. Although when the second guy shuffled the whole thing I thought it was going to mess him up but somehow he recovered. That Id like to know.
He see's that the top card goes to the bottom (during the shuffle) and tells the guy to stop before they are shuffled more. He then tells the guy to look at the bottom card. This is just a guess.
One of the most amazing performers of all time...
Also GOOD GOD that lady's nails! And how many freaking RINGS she has...
What an awesome version!

BILL MA-LONE!
Yes, best presentation and sleight-of-hand artist!
This guy is so entertaining. 🙂

Yet another brilliant performance!
any trick is funny with Bill Malone performing lol
its self working controling the position and order of cards
but the second version fooled me
Bill Malone is truly a master with card tricks.
Love the trick, i can do the selights now just to work on my presentation for this trick
He is so good!
The Great Bill malone
Daaaaang, this is impressive. There has to be something in how they shuffle.
BM : ..have you heard of the 21 Card Trick?
Lady: ...........y..es
BM : Ok, tell us about it!
LOL
Last one is so easy to figure out but the others are aweaome good job mr malone
Watching these ladies shuffling is painful!
my favorite trick until now. After I figured it out I use it every time I perform card tricks
Wtf bro tell us how to do it lol

the second phase is crazy.
i can do a version of this ... always works .....but bill malone is a true master ......unbelievable skills ...

amazing l0l

how?

the good thing about it is that if phase 2 doesn't go as planned, he can move straight into phase 3 as a backup plan.
Brilliant
is it worth to buy this volume? do i need to have seen the previous volumes to understand what happens?

U gotta stop person shuffling when he reaches last card.
That seems a bit of a stretch to rely on that. What if someone riffle shuffles?
