I love how he doesn’t ask me to subscribe or like in the first few minutes of the video, and I did it anyways because I can see the great quality of it already!
i've been seeing these on UA-cam for years now, finally picked one up today! figured i should grab one because every time i saw one for sale it's just a little but more expensive than the last time lol it's just the drop point version but i still love it
my mistake, i have the spear point version of the Minimalist! i also have the S.P.E.W. and often carry it for a backup personal defense blade.. love CRKT
Awesome review. I loved how thorough it was. I'm curious how the new flytanium handles feel on these, but I have also seen 3d printed scales on etsy for them. Keep up the reviews!
I have the exact same spear point one you have that mention you haven’t sharpened yet. Mine also came very sharp brand new and I haven’t used it enough to wear it at all. Love it so far
Been tempted to pick one of these up for a long time. I love all the different blade shapes. I'm just not crazy about the handle, I prefer something a little more traditional. I've been wanting a mini EDC fixed blade. The boker lil friend looks nice too.
My EDC is the minimalist cleaver I carry as a neck knife a lot of use and recently been having issues with it falling out randomly other than that no complaints it's served me well
A trick I leaned from Ed Caldron is to use a piece of bicycle inner tube on your belt and slip the sheath in. Slimmer than any clip for those who crouch a lot. I also glued a rubber wedge to the end of the sheath to make it lay flatter on the belt near the buckle.
Love these knives. Only one missing is the SPEW. I keep mine around my neck. Or my Sea Snake. They have a new one called the SPEC. Don't remember if that the new longer Cleaver for 2022 or the new SPEW with a reverse tanto tip for 2023.
I have the CRK Keramin since it was launched some years ago. It is one of the best SD fixed minis. It's my 2nd carry after Cold Steel Black Talon II folder..
Just got my drop point today. Some ppl complain about the retention of the sheath. The retention is good. I added the clip to the sheath and it fit my belt perfectly. I just wish there was a better way to keep it from sliding between my 1:00 belt loop and the 12:00 belt buckle area. I’ll see what I can do about keeping it still. It’s still a great tool and I’m glad I got it. The draw came natural too, no issues even if it did float around from 12-1:00. As far as retention, I wouldn’t sleep with it on, but I wouldn’t worry about it falling out either unless you’re doing something rough, then you might not want to be wearing a blade anyway. Just my review.
this was a great video. I'm new to the knife world. How do you tie the paracord through the sheath so you wear it more securely on your belt. The screw set up won't work on my belt. Thanks!
The minimalist deserve a slightly larger brother, the Katana is a good example. 6-7cm blade, in blackwash and D2 would be a winner. Blasted finish attracts rust.
I put snap buttons on the sheath and on my belt where a buckle would sit. It’s as close to the body as possible now and people would never know it’s there. Easy access too.
@@brockhernandez6485 I used a tire up through the 2 top hols and a piece of plastic to press the case from the site And i putt glue both inside the case and on the on the blade to rough up the surface But i still managed to lose the knife 😔😔😔 If i am to buy the same again i will do the same plus i am going to heat the case and i going to cutt a notch on the grip and bent the case to clip on the notch
No it's not. It's pretty cheap plastic. Not only does the knife have a habit of falling out pretty easily, but I've gone through two factory sheaths, both broke over the course of a few months of every day use. The knife is still great, but I recommend ordering an actual Kydex sheath for it.
my only problem with these is most of them except for like the graphic editions and the persian, katana, and spear point, come in 5cr15 which is imo an absolutely garbage steel especially when they make the same knives in 8cr13 which is literally objectively better
Who wants to see a torture test on the minimalist?
Yes
Water board them!
This would bee a great video to see!
@@chrismonte559 Compare it to a blunderbuss!

Thank you so much for doing a video with most of the models available. It gives a great view to see the different blade styles and their sizes

Your reaction to the sharpness is priceless. Yes, these are very sharp, even better with your own edge on it.
Thanks for giving luv to the minimalist line. I'm like you when a new one comes out, I gotta have it!
You should do a how to on how you tie the cord to the sheath. I’d like to know how you do that

Great video brother. Since you have all those knives you should do a video on each one with its own set of appropriate tests based on blade shape.
Ive had the black drop point for a few years now. Great little knife. Basically a box cutter.

Great explanation of these knives, ill be grabbing one or two this weekend, as well as some mora knives.

They’re very nice. They’re a great value. I love the feel of the G10 grips. I have two and I carry them horizontally on my belt. They keep an edge.
Nice. I got one with tanto blade. No Neck knife wearing people said bad things about the minimalist series. Small fixed knives are so useful.
Nice, i got the cleaver in D2 couple days ago. Getting all of them soon...
Armatus sheaths makes a great kydex aftermarket sheath for the minimalist they just added the spear point
Thank you for sharing. Awesome video. Keep up the great work

I might have to pick one up, i love my CRKT SPEW knife.
Fantastic review!
That little bit of cord is called a fob. A lanyard is used for wrapping around the hand for extra grip and security.
i ended up going with the s.p.e.w. and love it, sure it’s not the nicest thing on the earth but i love the design and it gets it done for 20-30 bucks
A number of the original shapes aren’t in 8cr13mov I believe it a 5cr
Nice review! Subbed.
Wanted to at least say awesome review, great video!
Was going to buy , but the example i messed with at the knife shop , the retention in the sheath was not good at all , felt like i would loose hiking
I carry the crkt M16 01ks love it
could you show us how to put that edge on the tanto please?
What would be better for edc, the katana or Persian? I have a tanto and love it but want a new one
Subscribed. Thank you for the video. Keep up the good work. 👍🔪🗡
Have u tried the spew? BTW great review!
Could u show me how u sharpen these knives ? I have the cleaver
Just got one brilliant little knife 🔪 😀
I subscribed because I thought I was pritty good. Do they each have they own sub names
I have the spew and I just bought the Persian but hasn't come in the only thing I hate is the sheath
yes yes i have all of these and the spews and a real custom from folts
would you recommend it as a boot knife?

i was wondering the same thing
Yes!
I use a fine diamond steel on mine the edge comes back in 5 swipes.
how are they for food prep? im particularly interested in the drop/spear points vs the cleavers
The cleaver makes for a great sausage slicer and interesting conversation piece :)
I have the BladeHQ Exclusive cleaver copper colored blade and D2
That’s the only exclusive I’m missing. I have the other bladeHq exclusive. The smk exclusive. And knifecenter exclusive

Snagged two of these yesterday on sale at Lowes $12 US each. Looks like they are clearing them out.
Damn looks like I missed it
Lucky!
I have the katana and the belt clip absolutely didn't fit my belt and I've been trying to figure the best way to use the cord. How did you run yours?
I put snap buttons on the sheath and on my belt where a buckle would sit. It’s as close to the body as possible now and people would never know it’s there. Easy access too.
Which one of those is the lightest? It looks like the Wharncliffe.
It probably is the wharncliffe, but keep in mind that the wharny is the only one with different handles, so aftermarket scales wont work for it.
Could you show us how they look on your belt
I have the black one on my neck
The knife is solid
The shith is shit and I had to modify it
How are you running the sheath since you modified it? Do you have it attached to a belt?
How did you mod it?

They suck. Tip broke like it was made of glass.
Noted, ordered the cleaver so it's more resilient
It's not a pry bar🤷♂️
Can you gets them with black lives matter livery or LGBTQ?
You can use a paint pen to write groomer on them if you like.

so do you just run your belt underneath the paracord on the sheath? Thinking of going without the belt clip as well
