Their jet is made from 100% recycled endangered species! It's also powered by the tears of infants. This should be a wake-up call for them to switch to eco-friendly materials. Use recycled plastics instead of virgin plastic. Yes, it's still an oil-based material but it helps to reduce waste. Also, the more companies using recycled materials the cheaper they become. Switching to recycled materials will at least allow them time to develop eco-materials. They could pay for it by canceling their company's yearly expedition to Antarctica and Mt Everest. If they don't we can boycott them by buying all Fake The North Face. Sure it's not the same quality but at least when we freeze to death we die with our morals intact.
I'm sure North Face will, within the next year, produce a windmill jacket, a geothermal jacket, and a solar energy jacket -- without using any oil products at all. Of course, anyone wearing this stuff will freeze to death in the winter, but hey, you have to freeze a few old ladies to make an environmental statement.
Electric cars powered by fossil fuels. In my opinion the Left wants credit for optics and good intentions and could not care less about actual results no matter how bad as long as they can pretend their intentions were good.
Years ago, they used to joke that singer John Denver would fly over his beloved Rocky Mountains in his private helicopter. Whether true or not, the pretense of (environmental) purity has always been with us.
It's sad that he died while flying in his experimental aircraft, but you are right, he did fly private aircraft. Don't know if any were a helicopter. ;-)
@@johnlepant6953 Yup and he died because the experimental aircraft he was flying had such a stupidly designed reserve fuel system that you couldn't turn it on when in the air........... let's just let that settle in for a second........

It doesn't matter how many people know or don't know. The fact is, we are not given many choices by the producers of said products. Given a choice I'd pay a little more not to use petroleum based products.

Natural fibers like cotton and wool still require oil and gas to run the looms that weave their fibers....and anyone wearing them would never survive an attempt on Everest or survive a night in a natiral fiber sleeping bag in the wilderness. "...even dentures and soft contacts. Who knew?" Maybe the media could decide to do good with their platform and their reach by providing the TRUTH, and then we would ALL know.
I've been a consumer of NF and various other company's products most of my life. As an avid climber and skier my life and fun depends upon them. But the hypocrisy of these companies talking about environmental causes while producing yet another cute fleece jacket for rich soccer moms to go to their kid's games in is beyond ridiculous. They literally make thousands of products that no one really needs but everyone wants. They should just shut up and enjoy the success.
Hey. Any of you anti oil people who have purchased north face apparel and are hating yourself now. Let me help you.. send it to me. My daughter loves their stuff.
This could possibly back fire, informing people exactly how much product they actually use from petroleum..lol Next will be how to replace such products..lol They are right people so not realize how much our culture depends on products made from petroleum.
Yet another case of a large company "virtue signaling", betting that the vast majority of their customers have no idea of how their products are really made.
We used to make all of this thermal protection stuff from sustainable & renewable, natural materials: Wool; Cotton; Leather to name a few. If North Face (and any other), virtue signalling corporation was truly genuine then they would go back to these materials. However, their business is to make as much money as they can by producing a product that meets or exceeds a customers requirements. There is nothing wrong with that in the slightest. However, right now, those materials come from the fossil fuel industry. So how is this plainly idiotic, virtue signalling, move by North Face going to make them more money? Well, we must not forget that intelligence is a rare attribute in the human population, so they just may make more with this stunt. In 2021 you actually don't have to do anything to "save the planet". Simply making a hypocritical gesture, or statement, is all that is required. God save us all.
That would actually be a brilliant repositioning if only they actually captured carbon to produce their apparel. But that will never happen as it's not profitable.
@@jeffjarvis222 you are perfectly right. I did not mean that such argumentation would be correct. What is correct is that as long you do not burn their products you made better use of the inactive raw material that is the petrolium product, not considering what happens on they way to get there.
Initially, NF seems hypocritical, but are they really? Using petroleum to make an essential product which will be reused hundreds, maybe thousands, of times appears to me to be a far more responsible use case than many other wasteful applications.
I think you're missing the point. They denied an order of their own product to a company that supplies the raw materials for those jackets. That's the hypocrisy.
Don't bite the hand that feeds you. Maybe North Face can make jackets out of sunshine and wind. Until then, they can shove the holier than thou attitude.
About time someone brought a little dose of reality to this unhinged discussion. Good on the Colorado Oil and Gas Association.
Liked your comment and also like your profile pic! Mark was telling us how much Disney screwed up the Star Wars franchise!
Every oil company should ban them. Put them out of business.
Wouldn't work. They are not direct customers. This is a much better way to humiliate them.
