I finally bought a 5th Gen Ram 1500! (First mods & back to the dealer with early issues)

- My name is Austin, this is Mopar Garage, and we build cool stuff in here! Today we are introducing the new daily driver, a 2020 Ram 1500 lone star. It’s my first 5th gen 1500 truck. We’re making the first couple mods and going over some early issues that are bringing it back to the dealer!

I'm a Chevy lover but I still love 1st and 2nd Dodge Ram trucks. And I agree with you, "Dodge" is what these beauties were known for. I only wish they still had the column shifter but I still love em!

You definitely can’t do 17s. I just put 18s on my 23 ram 1500 and the wheel weights miss the calipers by a hair. Can’t wait to follow the progress on this build. 😎
Thanks for watching! Seems to be the consensus from a lot of commenters that 17’s are a no go. They must have upsized the brakes for the 5th gen, I had a 2014 with 17’s on it.

18 inches is the most you can go for wheels, and there is no room for brake caliper covers. Will need to paint them if you want color. Running a Rough Country 3.5 inch lift, 35's Hercules Terra Tracs with 18 inch wheels.
Welcome to SC man! I love it here. Good info on the wheels, I had a 4th Gen that I put 17’s on, but it did appear the brakes got bigger on the 5th gen so I guess 18’s it is. Your truck sounds sweet. Thanks for subscribing!
looks Great and the Inline is smooth with Twin Turbos is smooth power
This one is a Hemi V8. Still not totally sold on the turbocharged engines for a daily driver.

I have exactly the same truck ,I highly recommend you to get the Lasfit led bulbs to replace your halogen , you won’t regret it , also swap all the interior lights for LED , I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY TRUCK
I work with Lasfit actually, they’re going to be proving floor mats and LED’s. Great company.

Nice looking truck bud get you some 5 inch tips and It will make the sound a little bit deeper get you the mbrp muffler it takes away that fart sound when you let go of the gas it sounds more like a burble with mbrp muffler that's what I had on my 2021 ram 1500

I had a 18 ram hemi that needed lifters at 5k, radio at 20k and transmission at 60k I got rid of it after that. I babies that truck and towed a couple times and it had horrible sway compared to the tundra I got. 120k and the tundra has never had a issue but just only gets 15 mpg the ram was suppose to get 20ish and I never saw over 17 mpg. Good luck with your new truck.
my 2019 new body, I beat the living shit out of this truck, tow a heavy boat, tow a trailer that weighs 10k dry, hauled pallet of sod in the bed, flooring it everywhere I go and it never missed a beat, its at 60k right now
Man that’s bad luck. I’ve had a 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2021 and had great luck with all of them. You always run the chance of getting a lemon though!
@@sportbikerunner maybe I got a lemon but dodge are pretty notorious for being unreliable. Wife has a widebody scat challenger contrary to my decision she got one and with only 8k it’s been to the shop 4 times for warranty work and now she want to trade it for a Tesla.

Ram its own company now. A lot of people didn’t know they made Ram its own. But it looks good I’ve got a 19 classic
Technically they became a separate brand in 2010, but they’ll always be Dodge to me. Thanks man! I actually would have preferred a classic, I think they look better.

New ride looks good. I agree with step bars.....especially on a 2 wd truck. I'm not 6'1, so on a full size 4x4 I'm ok with them. My 2nd gen has them, tires are also a little taller than stock, so they're kind of nice.
I have a 2019 Ram 1500 with rear left tail lights out in dashboards , took out lights there is no bulb it’s all LED , it also started to show blind spot service needed , that’s a ram 1500 problem
Interesting…it’s back at the dealer now so it all should be taken care of. Good stuff to know though!
Keep me updated , I have not taken mines to be fixed as yet , my blindspot monitor is not working
The issue started after the left tail light alert came on
@@shervinsmith7546 mine was just a bulb, you must have a higher trim level that’s LED.
How much did the truck cost you? Curious on the market
Market is FINALLY starting to stabilize slightly, but still wild compared to what it was. This truck was 31,000

No offense dude but if you say dodge 1500 to someone they’re not gonna know what your talking about because they’ve always been called rams
Ram has been a separate company since 2010 so when you order parts you definitely have to put the brand in as Ram…but they will always be a Dodge truck to me!
