Wink Martindale speaks so eloquently and beautifully about Elvis. It's a wonderful reminder when I get too wrapped up, defensive, and protective about Elvis against all of the negativity others put upon him and his memory. They're not worth it. Elvis was chosen by God to bring happiness and only true talent & genuine love could extend beyond the 42 years he was on this Earth to 46 years past his death to continue his purpose of bringing happiness to millions. The world still loves and misses you Elvis. Rest In Peace.

Really classy tribute from and to a true legend..On that sad day 40 yrs ago I was only 7 and I asked my Mom why Daddy was crying..She said very sadly,”oh,Elvis died.I said “who’s Elvis?!Well from that day forward I was on a mission to see who can be so important to make my big, strong father cry..Well,I soon realized why and I just wish I had the honor to grow up on Elvis like my folks. What a great human being that this dark world needs so many more of.RIP King.

There is just something about being in the audience waiting to see Elvis. You breathe, you take deep breathes . Because you know you will STOP breathing the second you lay eyes on the one, the only, ELVIS PRESLEY.
I lived 23 years before I was able to see the man that I idolized. I had his pictures all over my bedroom walls growing up. I had scrapbooks of every article I could find about him. I had gotten married and had 2 beautiful little boys.
One Sunday morning we were visiting with my Mom & Dad as they ran all over the same house I grew up in. I thought she was working the crossword puzzle but instead she was reading an article about Elvis coming to the Miami Beach convention center in a few weeks & that tickets would be going on sale the following Monday. She showed my Dad the paper and he chuckled as he looked over the top of the newspaper at me.
My Mom said, "How would like to go see Elvis in person?" I broke into a smile so big it could out shine the Sun. All of a sudden I was 16 again not 23.
The weeks dragged by. I drove over to the Convention Center to buy the tickets. Had to go back the next day because they hadn't arrived yet. So we went to the concert. WE as in me and my husband. He wasn't really a fan. But my Mom said I had to bring him because she was afraid I'd run off with Elvis if I was there alone. OH PLEASE! The night finally arrived. I was shaking I was so scared I'd not be able to find a place to park or maybe my ticket wasn't any good. I was a total mess.
The split second that I saw that white jumpsuit, the black hair & side burns. That handsome face...the notes of 2001. I was all alone in that room, just me and Elvis. It was really like he was singing every song just for me. In reality I knew there were other people there, but well...you know. Every girl wants to be alone with the King of Rock & Roll.
Things were different after that. I felt like I could still hear his voice in the sound of the trees, If I heard our marching bank playing 2001 as I drove past my high school, I got chills down my spine. There is just one Elvis and always will be. We miss you Elvis.

Wink Martindale, I knew many many years ago. Use to dance on The Saturday dance party television show hosted by Wink. Fun times those days! I knew Elvis in high school and afterwards and everything good that is said about him is true, a most kind, generous, God fearing man. I will never forget him, his music, his legendary songs, voice, looks, generosity will live on. He left us all a beautiful legacy.

Wink knew Elvis was going to be a huge star, but not just any Icon Elvis transformed in short time with his Unique God given voice, modest, humble and Giving to help anyone he met Elvis SOARED in music charts staying at the 1 &2 spots for record breaking weeks. Elvis made his own dreams come true from blessing others freely of himself however it was needed Elvis received Huge blessings from God and thanked God with always due credit openly doing so. There wasn't a ounce of hesitation when it came to Elvis successes and Who allowed those successes manifest into Elvis's life and Legacy. I have never regretted since a boy of age 6 in 1969 hearing over and over " love me Tender", "Hound Dog" and "That's all right Mama" on my small town neighbor lady stereo. Mrs Little was a complete Elvis 💙 Nut and I mean that in the greatest of ways she Loved Elvis through and through all his albums, concert stubs from Vegas, to Indianapolis as many woman Mrs. Little truly adored Elvis from not just his movies, song Hits and talent on and off stage his living charisma lived with her daily part of Her life and I knew Elvis was different and special as a 6 yr old boy hearing his songs ,voice and Mrs. little story after story of Having met Elvis it change my life early on and I'm now a NUT myself and don't care what anyone says about Elvis or me and my albums, books, photos. Posters videos it's takes the pressure of life away dreaming of what a wonderful time it was in life during Elvis's time here on Earth. God Bless Mrs. little for introducing me to Elvis Presley and I'm so proud to be a Huge Fan and listen to Elvis music or watch a movie almost daily or at least several days a week I must have this to keep dreaming of this beautiful time when the world was Elvis and it was amazing...... RIP Elvis and I love you for who you were and what you did for thousands of people personally and millions of people through your music and movies...

I remember the exact day, the exact moment when I heard that the King of music had died... I was stood in my dining room getting ready for work at 7-15 am and listening to the radio and wondering why they were playing all his records. Sadly they then announced his death.. I just could not take it in thinking it must be some sort of hoax. Until I got to work and found it was true. I could not believe he had left us being so young... Thankfully in 1998 I had the honour of visiting his birthplace and before that a tour round Gracelands.. I must admit I came out of there with tears in my eyes after reading about all the charitable works he had done in his short life which he insisted should not be broadcast but the recipients of his charity believed they could disclose after his death.. He was a simple man, no angles. He was truly. "The Greatest".. R.I.P Elvis.

Wink, that was an exellent tribute to Elvis. One of the best I've seen and "Yes" I remember exactly where I was when I heard Elvis died. On my way back to work at Canyon Lake, California. It hit me so hard I had to pull off the road. I think I sat there for at least 10 minutes before driving on. Do you remember "The Elvis Presley Story" created by Ron Jacobs and Tom Rounds? Who was the narator for that? Lol! Ron Jacobs is another man that I'll never forget where I was when I heard he died. If you had a list of people who were absolutely born to be a star it would include people like Jimmy Stewart and Lucille Ball but at the top of that list, without a doubt, would have to be Elvis Presley.

(Roy's wife, Jacqueline) The newspaper (The Mirror or The Sun) was on the table, I walked over to it. I saw Elvis in a coffin. I remember thinking "He's slim isn't he? I never knew he was so slim" and that's all I remember. I was 11 years old 😥

My greatest wish was to visit Gracelands and to have a photo taken at the gates of me and my gorgeous husband Chris, sadly i lost Chris, and although i had a chance to visit Graceland for the very first time i simply couldn't go, not without the man i loved, my husband Chris whom i lost in 2003. I loved them both! Bless you Elvis for the happiness you gave to so many people, thanks to Wink Martindale for his wonderful tribute, and if Chris is looking down, I love you babe, and always will, you meant the world to me, i miss both you and Elvis!
