Theres many methods to catch runners, here are some: 1: Toxicity level high, Risk level low : Whenever you get a stock off be toxic af, they may get aggresive, this will usually result in more pain if you lose 2: Toxicity level medium, Risk level medium : If they don't have a charge move or good projectile and its not heavens arena or destroyer tournament go to the other side of the map and emote, if they don't run at you wait for them to afk and hit a skill, eventually this should result in them being forced to push, may have toxic results at the end of the match but not as bad 3: Toxicity level low, Risk level high : This is alot less mindgames and more playing smart, try to force them into a corner and be centered so they have nowhere to go then play the game, may be hard to learn but just heard them like an animal and eventually you can get to them. This is my guide there's other methods but these work the best for me
seeing an illumi like this for me is pretty rare tbh, they usually come out very aggressive every 2 seconds despite their moves on cooldown though i cant even blame them. dash has like, no cooldown.

i fought a running illumi as girono also and he ONLY used needles to attack and used flash kick and dash to run he wasn't just playing cooldowns he was straight up bookin it the only reason i took so much damage and died twice is i wanted the match to end so i tried countering and I whiffed it everytime
that guy was a bad representation of what illumi players usually do. most of the time they are sweats with 20 ping with low gfx off, highest graphics quality

Best way to fight runners is to play their own game i only play characters with atleast 1 evasive or atleast 2 ranged moves in any case when you start running they'll get annoyed and run towards you and eat moves like a buffet
I've commited trackstar alot of time before and from my own experience. The best way to counter it is by not chasing and infact even run if they dont have free mode up like dopio or rika or all might
As somebody who likes Illumi Who tf uses dash as a tool to run away i swear to god if i saw somebody do that i would legit have to invite them to my ps and teach them ever Illumi combo and tech how to ladder with poke and dash how to combo extend with flash kick
I hate this kind of players that run and spam autotrack moves when i fought to one of them it took 28 minutes and game even asked me are you still playing or not💀

illumi is an m1 based char (doesnt mean he's not simple to use.) but yet you somehow dont use the most broken combo starter in the game to your advantage. it also has hyperarmor and the fact that it's frame 1 you have to expect it in order to block it. yes im an illumi main and im highly offended by your playstyle. go watch a good illumi guide or something though they might not exist the fact that illumi is not really used too much in 1s.

simple way, use ryuko, u almost never miss the guardbreak and it does like 25 dmg, if they block 100-0, it gonna take a while but surely u gonna win
ryuko can stall for awakening if they run long enough because mako gives awakening
