Two minor things I'd have done differently:
    1. I'd have wired it so that the clock and the lights use the same power source (and I probably would have gone with the AC adapter idea, just because I hate changing batteries).
    2. I'd have either cut down or picked out different hands for the clock so that the fit within the radius of the platter.

Why are there so many salty, bitter souls? You guys subscribed and used to love this channel, now you come here only to belittle Kip and tear him down.
Over making a clock, or tricks with matches, DIY survival kits, etc...because he has sponsors and has to meet their demands
I'm sorry life didn't turn out the way you wanted, I'm sorry no one in your lives wish to love you, I'm sorry your hearts are made of stone.
Get over it. Make your life better and quit picking on Kip because you look in the mirror and see nothing but hatred and feel a need to share it with others.
You know what you can share with us? Your silence.

Hey Kipkay. I love making cool stuff like this and I've been following this channel since I was 6 or 7 years old. I still use hot glue for everything and I have an old Mechano set and I always come to it when I need need to build a part. I've always loved the R/C hobby, so I thought it would be cool if you got a cheap Walmart R/C car and hacked it somehow to do something cool. If you're reading this, Thanks for all of the Awesome Content you post, Because it is a part of my life. :)

Kipkay, first off, huge fan. I've followed you for years, and downloaded quite a few of your videos to my tablet to watch when I'm bored and need a little something to make me think. But I do have a question.
Could you do a video giving a little bit more information about your soldering setup? What kind of station you use, it's capabilities, that sort of thing? And maybe a short soldering do and don'ts with a segment on using a solder sucker?
I think it would be a really great video to help give people a kick in the pants about doing some of this stuff themselves. :)

      @jakegarrett8109 8 років тому +1

You would put a 7200:1 gear reduction, that is called "the second hand" on a clock.
But you still could let the shaft have the original 7,200 rpm output (like a planetary gearbox with the shaft sticking all the way through), it would probably be too fast to see. You could have colored paper and it would turn a solid color (though without it shutting off, you wouldn't notice it was multiple colors.

I wonder if you could use the read/write arm as the hour hand? Maybe one from a laptop hard drive as the hour and this one as the minute hand? I'm sure there's a weight limit on the movement, probably weighted out pretty carefully, but it would be a neat addition.

Cool project! I did this with one of my late father's spare hard drives. Only one thing though, you missed one of the magnets! Great video. Thanks for sharing!

I didn't see any used, but was a resistor used with the LEDs?
While they will "work" without, LEDs should generally have a resistor wired in series. The resistor is to limit the current going through the LED - without one, the LED can draw too much current and can burn out.

They have there own resistances, enough in series won't require a resistor, mr farraday.

    hi kipkay
i would love to see you make some dj light equipment like a strobe, moving head, lasers, scanner and a light organ with a dmx for controlling them
that would be so cool because if you want to buy them they are so expensive
p.s. i love your videos they are really well made thanks
