One question about your technique - does it mean that you have to keep the books you are reading so you can go for the actual information you want to retrieve in the process of creating permanent/atomic notes? Because if I understand right, those cards that accompany your books are not enough without a book itself, right?
Thank you! That’s correct. The notes on the index card are insufficient and are basically there to mark interesting locations and ideas in the book. So if you are borrowing the book from a library or something you will need to make the main cards with the book before you give it back.
Typically I make a new main card for the quote or excerpt. For sources, the S! I don’t make a card. That is just a reminder for me to investigate that source and see if it is of interest to me. So I create cards for E! As those are quotes but not for S!
