“When we are telling ABH and Colourpop to slow down, maybe we need to quit buying makeup and just use what we have” *stands up and starts to slow clap* 👏 👏 👏
I actually stopped buying makeup a year ago and I LOVE shopping my stash. It is much more rewarding to finish up a product than it is to purchase a new one and add to your already oversized collection
@@Tori-pu5xp YESSSSS I always want to buy something new, and I don't know why, since I don't even use it right away. But it made me so happy to finally finish a foundation. It's like that first cut of the scissors into construction paper. Mmm, so scrumptious and satisfying.
Let me ask this, I went to the Ulta website today (hardly ever go to the site) and I believe I saw Colourpop palettes that aren't even for sale on the Colourpop website. Am I crazy? Are they really doing that too?
YES! Becca could easily be one of those brands that I would be inclined to buy from, because some of my holy grails that I continuously buy are from Becca... but man... they’re just lost in the game...
It was the rudest thing ever what Norvina did to Jackie! Her palette was beautifull and important to this community! Then, Norvina volume 123456 launched almost at the same time. 😑😑 Rude as fuck!
Agree! While scrolling past their IG thinking I was going to see more lovely shots of Jackie’s palette or promo shoot right after the launch...I was confused to see Norvina’s palette like sis you have the COMPLETE control to hold off on your own launch
Sand D for me anyway, I don’t buy from Colourpop as often as I used to because anytime I see something I want I know there will be something new in a week that I also want. So I just hold off on the purchase. And that turns into a LLOOONNNGG period of holding off.
THIS. On the flip side, there's so MUCH that I can be VERY picky about what products I purchase. I might be done with ABH tho. I don't think it was fair for the plethora of Norvina palettes to overshadow the collab launches. I don't follow Jackie Aina but did buy her palette bc I thought it was pretty. I was flabbergasted when the Norvina ones launched and basically stole the spotlight. I mean, why didn't they wait and do a specific launch? "ABH 2020. New Year. New Look. Norvina."
All I can say is........if an influencer is saying, "there are to many launches" "this is just too much makeup for me" you can be DAMN sure its to much for a regular old consumer like me....totally get it.
rissa dawn same. I thought there’s something wrong with me cause I didn’t like any Abh products. The palettes were not bad and pigmented but too much fall off and the shadows vanish on my eyes in 2 hours.
Absolutely. It is probably why a huge portion of my client base who are 40+ are more like to repurchase the same Lancôme product or Clinique, because while they might follow some trends - they mostly have the same _tried and true_ products they’ve had for years. They might be known for being old lady brands but they have a larger audience than people interested in ABH, because of this limited but quality product lines. People who are in that age-demographic who purchases drugstore brands HATE how often they change with trends.
Very true! That palette was so widely used for AGES! I think I bought it like 3 or 4 months after it came out because everyone was still talking about it!
Literally, idk how many reviews I watch of people with that one mothership palette with the red and the green. I guess it's partly because it's so expensive I'll not buy it. But I fucking loooove watching people messing around with those duo chromes. Interesting palette = consumer interest. And those norvinas aren't interesting. They look like jeffree star
Seriously, have they forgot what it's like to have everyone for months insist that Modern Ren is the staple palette and the standard for all palettes? Like, people used to compare other palettes to Mod Ren. Now...who can even name all the palettes that were launched this month alone?
@@RabbitTeacup very true. I can name the 7 (SEVEN!) Palettes ABH has released this year. But i haven't bought the last 5....and probably wont. Mod ren was so popular, its like theyre not even trying to make staples any more
the midimalist because they see themselves forced to release while the momentum is at its peak. Its business 🤷🏽♀️ if they wait, people forget about it and when its released later, people have already moved on and purchased something else.
@Erika Lewis omg THANK 👏YOU👏 I feel the exact same just couldn't verbalize it as well as you did. What the heck is with all these celeb collabs!? So dumb!!!!
I agree! I used to feel like Anastasia was such a classy, luxe brand with elegant and sophisticated colour stories and now it's like colourpop but bigger lol even down to the packaging and colour selections
I’ve probably bought less makeup in 2019 than ever, despite having a higher salary and ability to purchase than ever before. Same reason, just a disturbing amount of launches. My issue with it is the disappointment when I buy one thing and something I like more comes out 20 minutes later. So done with that. Rather not have any of it.
Rachel Paone same girl! Last year I think I spent like 1500$ on new products, but this year I really haven’t purchased anything because there’s just tooo much and I can’t keep up. It’s actually a huge turn off
Rachel Paone I was able to watch Beauty News several weeks in a row and not see a single thing I thought I wanted. I went 6 months only buying skin care.
I literally walked around Sephora with money in my purse so ready to spend my hard earned dollars on an eye shadow palette. I get to ABH, and I just stared for what felt like ten full minutes before I walked out. I did the same thing in ULTA the other day but with every brand I came across. Nothing is special. The beauty industry is over saturated, and now the excitement I used to get when purchasing and playing with new makeup genuinely has turned to buyer’s remorse. And with all the new launches happening constantly, you’d think someone could at least produce something innovative. But I will say... they wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t making them money, so something must be working for them. At the end of the day it’s up to the consumer to tell the brands how we want to spend our money, but we’ve allowed them to herd us into overpaying for makeup we already have plenty of dupes for... and I’m definitely a free market supporter, but I want to enjoy this hobby again. I want to collect things that are beautiful and mean something... guess it’s time to go back to collecting stamps...
rachelizabeth1 I agree with you and what I’ve noticed is that there are hardly any molten metal eye shadows. The PM shadows are close, but too expensive. MUG foils were perfect but the formula isn’t as creamy as they used to be and not enough colors. That is what I want.
I totally agree. My mom met me at the mall and told me she would buy me around $150 of makeup. I couldn’t find a single thing I was excited to get, so I ended up buying skincare i already use that I will run out of soon. It made more sense then buying more makeup I don’t need, won’t use, and don’t care about.
@@Figgatella For beautiful molten metal eyeshadows, I would just support an indie brand like Sydney Grace. Only $8 a pop for stunning cream shadows that look like liquid metal that have a ton of product (just store them applicator-side up to avoid them spewing out!). I highly recommend Vibrant Madness or Cliff Jumping to start with. And I really enjoyed the duochrome pink/mint green unicorn fun of Master Plan. These shadows look unreal and they're bulletproof too.
At this point i’m literally overwhelmed about the amount of plastic, paper, water and all resources the brands used to develop that huge amount of unnecessary makeup 🤯
Omg the PR kits they send to influencers? holy shit Those things are HUGE. And soooo unnecessary. Way too much, theyll never use ALL the shades, and they cant even do anything with the packaging. Jaclyn Hill fuzzy lipsticks came in those huge light up plastic diamond filled things... like are you absolutely serious? I SO agree with you. Its beyond reasonable.
I agree....making choices nowadays is so consuming, there's so much out there that you don't know what to chose ...and it becomes a frustrating experience rather than something you enjoy .
@@bribri8042 Yes! Im overwhelmed by the amount, and underwhelmed by the actual products. As for ABH, i bought the Riviera, and Alyssa Edwards, (and every palette from ABH for years up until now). But i haven't bought the Jackie, or the 4 since (the 3 big Norvina palettes and the Carly palette), and i probably won't
@@bribri8042 for sure. The sheer amount of releases that are happening is overwhelming, but it's all been done before. There is literally close to nothing more that can be done to create a unique product. This is the beauty world death rattle.
A lot of launches during a short amount of time makes a brand feel cheap. Thats why i feel like it works for colourpop but not for abh. Abh used to be a luxurious brand but now it feels cheap to me🤷♀️
I have ordered one palette this year and that's Tati's. The sheer volume of releases has taken all the fun out of launches. I'm not interested anymore.
Leilani Brown I like what I’ve seen and heard with her packaging too. USA made, wrapped/packed in recycled/recyclable materials, with vegan formulas. Wayne Goss loved it and he’s a no BS dude if there ever were one in the beauty industry. I’m really tempted by it, but I’m waiting to see if the colors are more up my alley in Volume 2.
I love Tati's palette! Every occasion to wear makeup, I've worn her shadows... The matte and metallic are great for work and I can add sequin or glitter to change the look for going out without redoing the entire eyeshadows :-)
Future ex Mrs. Malcolm literally the truest thing I’ve ever hearddddd I bought the Kathleen lights big palette and that was the only thing I bought in the last couple of months
Zoe Ortega same. I have even refrained from the Kathleen palette but I admit it's been the only Temptation in months. Have you had a chance to try it out and would you recommend it? I don't have experience with Colourpop shadows
For someone that is “scared of everything”, you sure have some of the biggest lady balls in this industry! And we love you so much for it!! Also, your thumbnail is gold.
I have so much respect for you when you included “editing Kristi” it shows that you do your research and care about representing things properly. Moreover you are giving us, the consumer, more information. You didn’t have to include that clip but you did because you have integrity and I appreciate you so much!
It was. And you know her's is gorgeous! It's probably the best looking (in my opinion) of the 5 they have launched. Why didn't they talk about it? Why didn't Kristi get it in PR? sketchy.
Corrie R they even talked about the second norvina pallet in the comments section on her launch post before it came out. Really rubbed me the wrong way. 😒 this was supposed to be her moment and they ruined it.
I love your version of an anti haul. Everyone else just says "This just doesn't seem like something I'd use" and you are going all in about the whole industry and how frustrating that is. Go girl, they need to hear it! :D
I’ve gotten rid of half of my palettes . I kept my tried and trues ... a smashbox , a couple ABH , and my urban decay Electric palette that I have used a million times and it’s staying strong and hasn’t even come close to running out . I just got overwhelmed with my makeup and found that the more makeup I had, the less I actually wore makeup. Part of me misses how much I loved and wore makeup in high school. I’d go to the drug store and gamble on products based on how they looked and the colors I’d just guess on ... and I wore my little bit of makeup every single day . When I ran out , I replaced what I ran out of and would sometimes try something new (ex:mascara , blush , whatever ). I didn’t have to have a peachy blush , a mauve blush, a rosy blush , etc. I had ONE that I used until I hit pan and it crumbled apart. And it costed maybe 5 bucks . Now I have thousands of dollars of products and brushes , most of which don’t get touched. It sort of robbed the joy out of just putting makeup on for the sake of feeling better . It’s decision fatigue ... what look and I going for ? Do I want to play up eyes or lips ? What outfit am I going to wear ? Will I have to touch this up? Has my skin tone changed the slightest bit so I need to decide which foundation to use ? Which brow product ? Which highlighter ? .... like I never used to use highlighter or a brow product and guess what ? I still looked cute . It’s all too much. No wonder so many people have anxiety and depression. You are bogged down with 3,000 choices . Which tv program do I want to use , or should I use actual cable ? What’s for dinner ? Etc . We took the most simple pieces of a routine and made them complicated .
As I've started to get into makeup I've also started to get into communities like makeup rehab on reddit! There's a big focus on former makeup addicts reducing the amount of products they use and only buying something if they genuinely need it. I never had any sort of addiction or obsession with makeup, I used to wear nothing but eyeliner, mascara and eyebrows, but as I've started to use more makeup I've been mindful that I don't waste my money on stuff I won't use. I've got a couple eyeshadow palettes that I regret buying and one of the problems I have with makeup culture is the idea that you have to have all the palettes. Certain palettes won't look good on everyone so why feel pressure to buy something that'll just collect dust?
I feel the same way. My makeup collection is about $20000 including over 150 eyeshadow palettes. It's so much that I feel anxiety every time I sit down to do my makeup. And yet I spend a ridiculous amount of time thinking about what I want to buy next. And it's hurting my marriage. Something needs to change.
I finally bought one of the Urban Decay Naked palettes this year (Ultraviolet), and I'm just now getting into real makeup, not the cheap stuff they sell at the drugstore. Thanks for the warning, guys. I don't want to end up with more makeup than a typical MUA. I only buy makeup if I know I will use ALL the colors in the palette, and I do lots of research on it before I buy it (quality of formula and packaging, long-wearing or not, color pigmentation, makeup artist reviews/user comments on UA-cam, drama/'tea', etc....) I think I've done pretty well, considering the temptations before me and the misguided need to be a normal almost 30 year old woman who wants to look trendy.
Amanda Martell that’d be so cool if the next “challenge” was just using old school palettes or just makeup in general. Not even old school but stuff from even last year that no one has shown anymore!
I've actually quit buying makeup because of the overwhelming amount of launches. Instead of being worried about missing out, I usually think "well, another launch will come out in a couple of weeks and I may want that instead". All makeup brands need to chill. The only things I am commited to right now are the Jeffree Star x Shane Dawson collab and Tati's launch palette.
Exactly!!! Totally agree. I haven’t bought any new make up (except eyeliner and foundation “necessities”) in forever. Like at least 7 months. Like you the only things I’m excited for are JS launches
I still consider the application process to be fun af, but the sheer amount of eyeshadows and foundations makes it overwhelming. There’s such an overabundance of products now it’s hard to know where to start and what works best for you and your skin type as well as the looks your going for
I’m so glad you talked about this. I find it sad makeup brands are pushing “pay it later” now too. People are literally going into debt for makeup (!!!!) because they feel like they have to buy from every single new release.
A lot of brands outside of beauty offer afterpay now, it’s a great option for people who don’t have a credit card and are just trying to spread out expenses
Whenever I feel like I have to buy on every single launch, I quit buying. I used what I have and I'm loving my huda nude pallete as I have many used of it.
Agreed! He’s like....Hey sisters!! Here’s a small version of a crap, repeated a million times rainbow pallet thats been out forever now on AliExpress. First one....hey guys I’ve worked so hard in this! Umm?? On what? Morphe redoing the Morphe 35b and slapping your name across it? I’ll stick with my BH Cosmetics Take Me Back To Brazil palette but thanks sister.
The Great Sabs Then we can have bad taste together! I love that palette so much. It was unexpected at the time for a big brand like that. I am not a make up artist, but I thought the shadows in the palette worked fine for me! I didn’t experience the severe fallout everyone else seemed to. I love the color story and the shadow performance. 💗
i almost feel as though ABH has fallen into the MAC trap. I remember when MAC launches were massive and exciting. but then it got to the point where there were multiple collections at once, overlap in colors, etc
I was just thinking that as I was watching the video. Less and less thought out products, no interesting color stories. And when was the last time I heard about a MAC launch? 10 years ago?
I used to binge watch videos of people reviewing the MAC collections because I was obsessed with the concepts, but it feels like there’s no effort in any of them anymore
I feel like Mac isn't as popular or trendy as they used to be. I remember back in the day if you had MAC make up you were RICH and GOOD at make up lol. Yea no one's excited about it
Apparently Vol 3 was supposed to be released for "festival season" along w the glitters, but there was "a lot of problems". (According to Norvina on Twitter, anyway)
Alyssa palette, riviera palette, Jackie aina palette, norvina1, norvina 2, norvina 3, Carly bybel....... 7 palettes so far and there might even be a holiday palette later on
There was also this palette that had this golden glitter packaging. The palette's packaging matches the packaging of the loose highlighters. Anyone remember the name?
I totally agree that Jackie and Carli's palettes were launched way too close together. It really did take sales away from both and that really sucks for them.
“instead of wanting to try them all, it’s the exact opposite and I never want to buy from them again” - Kristi Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I feel this way about most brands now including Colourpop. Im just done buying makeup unless I need to replace a used up product.
Seems the make up companies are more geared for the higher income person than the 1 looking for quality everyday I'm living on a budget make this shit last babe.
I appreciate her saying this as well! I was the same way I got so caught up trying to buy all the new makeup I gave so much away that I didnt like and spent way too much money! Now I'm much more selective and only buy if I run out of something. I have too many palettes they will expire before I ever use them up 🤦♀️
Also, after watching the Shane Dawson series I’m just amazed at brands launching so much. They are making SO so so much money, and their capitalism is peaking. I’d rather support brands that release stellar cult beauty products that stand the test of time.
I don’t feel like I have experienced enough with makeup yet (but I do not have the same access as people in usa, not at all) and I’m tired of how much colourpop is launching (the only company I follow). I was excited with one pallet and before I could by 10 more palettes launched.... I feel tired looking in their site when I want to buy something
Oh lord do I appreciate that you have the mindset of a consumer as opposed to a salesperson. It makes you a much more trustworthy personality on this outlet, and to be honest it completely helps me keep my financial priorities in check, because you could sell me just about anything and I’d buy it. Bless ya!
I LOVED this video. It’s so refreshing to see someone be a skeptic about makeup. There are beauty gurus out there that I stopped watching (Ex: Nicole Concillio) because everything they tried, was AMAZING. Like really?? Every little makeup item is amazing? Or do you just wanna stay on their PR list? I remember one video she did on a Kylie eyeshadow palette, and the eyeshadows didn’t even show up on her lid. AT ALL. And she kept on saying it was amazing. That’s how I knew some beauty gurus are full of it. 😂
THIS is why I subscribed! You tell shit like it is and you’re not afraid to say the truth! God, it’s so refreshing to watch your videos and feel like I’m listening to an actual human being who takes money into consideration. Thank you Kristi!!! P.S. your base is absolutely flawless. I was in a trance watching you blend your foundation 😂😂
As someone that is scared of branching out of neutral eye looks, I agree brands should put more time into showing tutorials with their products! I would be much more willing to buy from them knowing how the hell to use them!
I agree 100% even Jeffree Star though he ALWAYS sells out, he gives time inbetween his launches. I'd rather brands take their time and create something they love!
I whole-heartedly agree with you. I don't even remember the last time I bought a palette because every time I see a new palette that I like, my first thought is "well maybe I should just wait a few weeks because another palette will probably come out soon that I like even better" and then I don't end up buying any palettes.
I just want to say, I'm so happy you mentioned the ABH x JA makeup collaboration. As a POC, it's nice to hear other non-POC take a stand. It was refreshing. You didn't say anything controversial, just something that needed to be said.
i purchased a set from colorpop last week on like a wednesday, then two days later new stuff came out and i loved that too! But i'm like fuck if i wasn't crunched for money i'd buy it
personally, i’m not getting bored of the “low” amount of products brands release, i’m getting bored of the same damn nudes and shimmer being put into the palettes!
WE DON'T NEED MORE CHOICES OF THE SAME DANG THINGS. In advertising, this is what we call CLUTTER. If you constantly bombard people with things that are too similar, they will literally TUNE YOU OUT and IGNORE you. Kinda like after the 5608938732nd time an influencer says "omg this is honestly the best product I've ever used in MY LIFE" or "I've been literally working SO hard on this for YEARS" it carries no weight and is completely meaningless.... The easy gravy train of influencer collabs and more eye shadow palettes than we could ever use in our lifetime is over and brands don't know wtf to do now 🤷♀️
I wish Jackie's palette had its time in the spotlight more. I find it really interesting and important to see an eyeshadow palette designed for darker skin. I love the look of the palette, but know I couldn't make it work on my pasty face. It made me realise how many times darker skinned people must have looked at every other mainstream palette and had the same thought. I would have loved to see beauty influencers go through that process.
Elise Upton thank you for saying this. i got jackie’s palette as a gift a few weeks ago and it’s the the only palette i own where me, a darkskinned black girl, can use every shade. that’s revolutionary for people like me. her palette didn’t get the credit it deserved.
Siju O. My thoughts exactly. And I find it really shady that ABH did this collab with a POC and then moved on so quickly without letting it- and Jackie- shine. Almost like they did it for brownie points, instead of doing it for the reason that matters (that Jackie deserved it and did a smashing job on it).
Siju O. when people were upset that jackie said that it was made for black girls i was like .... BOO HOO?!?!? ONE PALETTE NOT MADE FOR WHITE GIRLS?!?!? literally the only thing “missing” is a bone white color and we can just use our face powder. the palette was revolutionary and necessary in the field of makeup
Like I own MR, Sultry, Subculture.... even those existing palettes don’t feel as... idk... special. I hope they watch this and read the comments to see that this isn’t the way to go. 😩😩😩
Same. Earlier this year i was actually looking at adding one abh palette to my collection. But when they started spitting out a palette every month it just started feeling like it was nothing special anymore.
“Do they need to slow down so we can buy it all? Or do we need to quit buying makeup and use what we have” Ugh. This is it exactly. I get an Ipsy bag once a month and I still feel overwhelmed with trying the products before the next one comes. You can absolutely tell that all of the beauty youtubers are overwhelmed with the amount of products to try. Especially foundations in the last few months. I started learning how to do makeup by watching UA-cam videos about three years ago now. I subscribed to a few channels who had great tutorials and were awesome teachers. Now it’s just all product reviews and nothing else. I’m glad I learned how to do makeup when I did because no one teaches you how to do it anymore or how to use the makeup you’ve got :(
Alissa Mills I personally can’t stand when beauty gurus are like, “I went and bought a full face of ____ makeup for this video” when we KNOW they’ve got more makeup then they could ever use. Why not just use what they have??
Allie Glines often does a good job of using old products and teaching makeup tricks. I also love watching Kelly Gooch. She’s a smaller UA-camr who produces a lot of great content with products she already has
PrincessMia1078 I love Allie glines specifically for that reason!! She usually tries to do multiple looks with the same palette too. She’s one of the ones I continue to watch because it’s not always new products all the time and she’s still teaching you tips and tricks and looks.
Ronda Meier ohhh yes I love Wayne goss! Shelby Wilson is awesome too for simple looks and hooded eyes. I supppse I should amend my statement that NO ONE does tutorials anymore. A lot still do. And those are who I watch, not as many of the big uoutubers anymore.
And from that ENTIRE list, I've only bought ONE product. So, when they realize they are actually losing money (because I don't think any consumer or collector exclusively buys ABH) maybe they will chill the f*$k out. Two launches a year from every brand would STILL be WAY MORE than enough!
The amount of launches is so overwhelming it’s turned me off of buying makeup. I used to love makeup and watching videos about makeup. Now when a new product launches it’s not exciting anymore. It’s pretty upsetting. I really enjoy that you are bringing light to this topic.
Totally feel this, too many products, and these companies aren’t thinking of the customers. You want a loyal customer base... you can’t shell out product like you don’t care about each launch
Morphe is really testing me with all the shades of brown. All of their pallets have all the same color with little variation and then a tiny pop of color, usually a bland red.
Agreed. Im always lost with morphe. I can't tell if i have the same shades at home already and they all look so similar. I just get collabs now. Avoided JS this time though i have similar shades in colours.
I felt like literally days after Jackie's palette launched the norvina one launched and I was so confused?? Just felt shitty towards jackie, like they took her moment away
Liz I feel like cp also did that to Kathleen with her so jaded palette as well as Safiya Nygaard with her launch. I just feel so bad for Jackie and all of them because they worked hard and it just gets buried with all the other launches
I COMPLETELY AGREE! I remember when the modern renaissance palette was their hot ticket item and I swear it was the baby for like a year... it was in everyone’s kit, ppl hit pan on them! I still have mine and love it dearly. They are flooding the consumer. and is not appreciated
I’m over makeup honestly. I used to wake up an hour earlier than when I need to and play with my eyeshadow palettes. Now I wear eyeshadow once or twice a week. I don’t pay attention to brands on Instagram anymore. When I’m in Ulta or Sephora and if something catches my eye that’s when I’m interested
Sarah Luna same!!! I had a small makeup account on Instagram and I was so passionate about it. I would always tell my husband omg we have to save money because this brand is coming out with this. I was in ulta at LEAST once every week or two. I bought makeup every month. I wore makeup 4-5 days a week. I ran out of products so quickly because I used it so much. Now, I genuinely cannot tell you the last time I bought a piece of makeup. I haven’t ran out of any in MONTHS because I have not used it. I genuinely wear makeup maybe once-twice a month now. I’m bored. I’m not passionate about it anymore. It’s all just bleh. I keep waiting and waiting (and have been for months) for a launch that speaks to me and there’s been nothing. I am excited about Shane and Jeffree’s launch but I’ve never been able to afford his collections. So idk. This was ranty. All to say I feel the same as you. 😂😂
Yes I’m excited about Shane and Jeffrees palette but also I think because he’s showing the process of it too. But now I love makeup still but I used to love to play and practice now I’m like eh I can sleep in 😂
I relate to this so much. I have always watched tutorials and reviews but never bought. I stuck to cheap stuff I never really liked. A month ago I threw it all out and invested in quite a few Colourpop products to build myself a good collection I will use for a long time. Outside of restocking staples and the occasional new release that offers something new, I don’t foresee myself buying something every week. More like every few months. Unless the novelty is just too much to resist ☺️.
Lmao 😂 I just remembered the "experiment" Payless did when they rented a whole place and transformed it to look luxurious but then placed their own shoes with $500/ $600 tags and ppl were: "omg i love this, the quality is amazing, so elegant blah blah blah" and then they were told they were actually Payless' shoes... You said it: they're buying names!
I like Natasha Denonas shimmer/foils, or the crystal topper shades. The Biba palette is good but it doesnt showcase her finest stuff. Pat McGrath is WAY over priced, & she just did a price increase. The 6 pan palettes before were $55, & now are $65. The 10 pan are $129 (rumor is these are increasing to $140). I own both brands palettes. Their all beautiful but extremely over priced! I was really turned off by Pat's recent price increase! I refuse to buy a Tom Ford quad for $80+.
On a related note: I started working in a cosmetics retailer recently and I’m honestly starting to wake up to just how wasteful the cosmetic industry is. I’ve seen people return so much product just for no other reason than they didnt properly research a product to make sure they wanted it before they bought it. All of it gets thrown away, completely wasted. Customers regularly open products on shelves to inspect it, leaving it on the shelves and of course, for sanitary reasons, we have to thrown them away. The sheer amount of perfectly good product that we have to toss just because is people’s wasteful habits is truly upsetting and it literally happens all over the States. Keep in mind that it’s not just individual products wasted, but also all the resources it takes to produce and ship products across the country. Please everyone: be thoughtful about what you buy!! Cut down on wasted cosmetics for the sake of the planet!
The only caveat I have is there are certain products that you can research to death, but you don’t know if it’s going to work for you specifically until you try it. I have cool yellow leaning olive skin and it’s extremely rare that the first foundation I pick works for me...even after I’ve read 100 reviews of people saying it’s a perfect cool yellow olive.
J Choi I live in Australia & we can’t return a used product just because we don’t like it! It’s totally bizarre to me that sooo much makeup is thrown away, that people are allowed to just buy excessively to “try” then return. I see UA-camrs buying every single thing that comes out & saying they’ll just return it?!?! 😳😳😳
I have always wondered why the CO2 Emissions of the USA are almost double from Germany where I live because both are highly developed countries but things like this explain a lot. I cant return used things either, unless the product is faulty and its the sellers fault. To return things I simply dont like is such a strange and wasteful concept to me... dont you have small testers to see if something is the right colour?
"People get bored"? People don't have enough time, space and money to consume that many products. Companies should concentrate on making classy products, not over-priced toys for women
I don’t love nor hate Jeffree star but his company is my favorite makeup company right now. Everything they do is done with patience and it’s always top quality
Lisa Marie honestly, Jeffree has some of the classiest and most creative and artistic packaging i have ever seen. Also it is ALWAYS the highest quality and why should the way it looks stop you from being non biased towards the actual products because they are always spot on and gorgeous formulas.
And the lipsticks! I stopped wasting my money on other brands once I tried the Velour liquid lipsticks. I totally fell in love with his brand this year.
Leslie Y I agree. I hope Colourbob can slow down on these monochromatic palettes and give me another SS moment🥰 Something new(ish). If that’s possible at this point lol
You are NOT too negative. I look for channels with honesty.. I hate watching make up channels where everything is “so so so good” nah. Show me the bad stuff so I don’t waste my money!!!! You do you. We love it
I don’t get bored, but I DO get overwhelmed. They didn’t even give me time to pay bills and get paid to even buy the first palette, much less 5. It’s too much, and I don’t even want to buy any of them because of it. If that’s what they mean by “bored”, then sure. I also feel like, they’re releasing SO much lately, that everything new just feels like it’s already been done before. If I want a palette, I know I can wait cuz I’m gonna see a replica of it in 3 months.
For me, when a more high end brand does what ABH is doing, the brand and products feel less quality/fancy?, I mean with Colourpop I dont mind to be honest because of how affordable they are and I love the quality, but if I am gonna spend a lot more money I want it to feel special, a product that is timeless and was made with thought and love, butif they launch every 5 seconds it becomes fast food of the makeup imo. I agree with Hourglass, for me they release the perfect amount and I get sooo excited to get anything from them, it feels special.
"Do we need to quit buying makeup and just use what we have?" Truth. I love makeup, but its unsustainable for the consumer. I'm trying to be a careful consumer. I don't want to create waste.
Agreed. I've really been trying to focus on getting more products I generally use and will work to empty. (Which means investing my makeup in more high end brands or Eco friendly or green beauty) I got rid of so much expired make up recently and it's insane
I think now that I'm a bit older I'm finally only buying things that I'm excited to use. I adore my Melt Cosmetics eyeshadow stacks and get excited to use them. My Colourpop ones, I wear to work only because I just need something on my face and I know it is "good enough", not overly pigmented, I can basically do my eyeshadow without looking and go.
Agreed! I used to feel like I needed every. single. thing. Now I can walk into Sephora get the skincare, essential makeup, and some lashes I use and walk out. I don’t need 1,000,000,000 choices because I’ll just choose NONE. 🤷🏽♀️
The oversaturation of launches is similar to what happened to Coach, Dooney & Bourke, MK, and now Kate Spade. These companies used to release a small collection at a time and it would be anticipated and special. Now they mass marketed, cheap, and there's little to no hype. Makeup companies need to slowwwww down and make launches special events and reclaim brand loyalty instead of going for the short-term cash grabs.
Ohhh man. Louis Vuitton was in this camp in the early-mid 2000s and I feel like they still haven't recovered. Idk if it's just where I'm located, but I swear the only people I see carrying LV are exclusively white trash 😂 Edit to add: I think MK is tacky to be honest. It's like suburban mom chic.
I for sure feel this. I use to save up to buy a "special bag" and I may have waited multiple seasons until I found something I had to have. And it was unique. To some extent Dooney & Bourke kinda does this with thier Disney Line but there is still alot of it out there.
Yes! I liked it more when brands did like... Maybe 1 or 2 permanent launch releases a year, and then maybe 1 or 2 limited launches (like holiday themed collections). I LOVED holiday collections, now the only brand really doing "Holiday" is Too Faced but its the same friggin shadows and products every year, just with new packaging. Now, every new release is either "Meh" or "I already have it, one way or the other." Even limited editions, its like "Meh, they'll release it again right after it sells out. Either as is or tweak the packaging or put it in a set or claim its reformulated.
“When we are telling ABH and Colourpop to slow down, maybe we need to quit buying makeup and just use what we have” *stands up and starts to slow clap* 👏 👏 👏
Amber Cotrone I felt this 👏🏼🙌🏼
I actually stopped buying makeup a year ago and I LOVE shopping my stash. It is much more rewarding to finish up a product than it is to purchase a new one and add to your already oversized collection
@@Tori-pu5xp YESSSSS
I always want to buy something new, and I don't know why, since I don't even use it right away. But it made me so happy to finally finish a foundation. It's like that first cut of the scissors into construction paper. Mmm, so scrumptious and satisfying.
👍🏾👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Let me ask this, I went to the Ulta website today (hardly ever go to the site) and I believe I saw Colourpop palettes that aren't even for sale on the Colourpop website. Am I crazy? Are they really doing that too?
Then there’s Becca that just launches champagne pop in new packaging 5 times a year lol
MeaganandMakeup I LOL’d. Becca could be putting out next level palettes but...
And NARS with Orgasm
YES! Becca could easily be one of those brands that I would be inclined to buy from, because some of my holy grails that I continuously buy are from Becca... but man... they’re just lost in the game...
And too faced with any food related item or theme that has success so they release more of the same stuff.
Cesi 929 Yes!! Becca and NARS re runs!!! 😂 😂
I would pissed if I were Jackie. Her palette was overshadowed so hard and it's literally the brand's fault.
Jonnie With An Ie out of all the palettes that were released, i only want the Jackie palette 😭
I’m really Not a fan of Jackie but I want that pallet and I think she was done really dirty with another four launches right after hers.
Jonnie With An Ie I don't support Jackie but I agree with this. Almost like they brushed it off.
I am proud to say that I NEVER bought any Kylie products.....and NEVER will!
Amen sister
Same!
i’ve bought a fake lipstick 🤣😂
im try her lip kit and concealer, it actually good but kinda overpriced
Yeah me too but just because I am broke 😂😂
I'm not bored. I'm overwhelmed. Therefore, I stop spending money.
Agreed. I'm sure they would make more money if they slowed down.
Sand D for me anyway, I don’t buy from Colourpop as often as I used to because anytime I see something I want I know there will be something new in a week that I also want. So I just hold off on the purchase. And that turns into a LLOOONNNGG period of holding off.
Totally agree! And you’re dog is cute :)
Same
I feel like if ABH is concerned about their consumers getting bored, they should focus on making their products less boring 🤷🏼♀️
Alyssah Latshaw preach
Mic drop
Or less expensive!
I felt that. True tho.
SNAP
i think norvina meant "rich people get bored" bc us broke ass people can't even afford abh in general
yasmine sch I've purchased 3 products from abh total I think. And each time was disappointed
Preach
rissa dawn same. I thought there’s something wrong with me cause I didn’t like any Abh products.
The palettes were not bad and pigmented but too much fall off and the shadows vanish on my eyes in 2 hours.
lmaoooo too true
So true!!🤷🏼♀️
I totally agree- psychologists have proven when people have less choice they’re happier with what they chose
was looking for a comment like this! learned about this in my 2nd year of my major
I'm sure relative deprivation comes into this somewhere
Yes! Like with kids and their toys. The less amount they have, the more they actually play creatively!
Too many options (for anything) makes my anxiety kick in
I feel like whole brands could disappear and I wouldn't even notice cuz there is just so many of them
The Balm definitely disappeared. Everyone was talking about them and now crickets.
Yes! I agree with you.
Totally and there is some that are so so lackluster that I won’t even ever purchase anything from them!
Lauren R OMG I totally agree. Lorac and kiko also disappeared. I never hear about them anymore.
@@violetflower2770 absolutely. I also feel like Benefit and Tarte are on their way out, too.
Modern Renaissance would not have become iconic if ABH was releasing with the same frequency as they are now...
Very true! That palette was so widely used for AGES! I think I bought it like 3 or 4 months after it came out because everyone was still talking about it!
Agreed!
YES! I saved up money for that one cause it had me so excited. But damn, I can’t even keep up now. It turns me off
Mina Cunningham i still love that palette
Thisss! Yes, I sweat their will never be another modern renaissance type hype if people keep coming out with so much stuff
I don't mind. it just means Marshall's makeup selection is going to be POPPIN' in the new year
Yup thats why i save my $$$ and buy at Tjs/Marshall unless i wantbit so bad...i can wait.
Girl true lol that's where I get a lot of my shit. Allllllll of my brushes.
🤣🤣🤣 truth
UnweptOcean 23 FACTS 🤣🤣🤣
Exactly that's where I buy pretty much ALL my makeup, that and TJ MAXX.
"People get bored" - not if you put out makeup worth a damn.
So true!!!! Quality NOT quantity
@@RabbitTeacup very true. I can name the 7 (SEVEN!) Palettes ABH has released this year. But i haven't bought the last 5....and probably wont. Mod ren was so popular, its like theyre not even trying to make staples any more
Right. As if modern renaissance wasn’t the only palette talked about and recommended for MONTHS lmao. And for good reason too!
Anastasia didn’t give Carli or Jackie their deserved time. I also don’t think they should’ve had 2 collabs so close together.
Can't put my finger on why Norvina got all the spotlight...
Trendmood leaked both of those palettes so ABH was forced to release them....
@@dianasj how does a leaked photo force a release? it's basically a sneak peek, which is done all the time to hype products.
the midimalist because they see themselves forced to release while the momentum is at its peak. Its business 🤷🏽♀️ if they wait, people forget about it and when its released later, people have already moved on and purchased something else.
@@dianasj even if they were leaked they can use that to hype their products up. And Norvina honestly was lying she got a whole gondola at Sephora
I really dislike the direction ABH has taken. I don’t think it’s classy anymore
miss christine agreed ! Abh was my favorite brand but then it just became too much. The last item I bought was the soft glam
ABH has turned into the next instagram makeup brand, smh. now I need to find a new eyebrow pencil from a different brand
@Erika Lewis omg THANK 👏YOU👏 I feel the exact same just couldn't verbalize it as well as you did. What the heck is with all these celeb collabs!? So dumb!!!!
Agreed! It’s gone downhill fast
I agree! I used to feel like Anastasia was such a classy, luxe brand with elegant and sophisticated colour stories and now it's like colourpop but bigger lol even down to the packaging and colour selections

Also me: Binge-watch reviews of makeup products I will never buy
Also also me: YASS DRAG THEM SIS
Ha you sound like me lol
@@Assyla_555 🤣🤣
Same.
Haha same 😂
🤣🤣
I’ve probably bought less makeup in 2019 than ever, despite having a higher salary and ability to purchase than ever before. Same reason, just a disturbing amount of launches. My issue with it is the disappointment when I buy one thing and something I like more comes out 20 minutes later. So done with that. Rather not have any of it.
I was thinking this same thing.
Literally same af
I felt this so bad😩😩
I want to collect things that are beautiful and mean something... guess it’s time to go back to collecting stamps...
rachelizabeth1 well said, totally agree
I find myself often walking away as well. There's just toooo much
rachelizabeth1 I agree with you and what I’ve noticed is that there are hardly any molten metal eye shadows.
I'm actually bored of makeup because there's soo many launches, it's like makeup launch fatigue.
Love that expression! "Makeup Launch Fatigue" -May I use it in a review?🤗
Natasha K absolutely perfect description of what I feel like 🤣
Natasha K or launch lethargy 🤣 we need to coin these
Kathy Aay Beauty that or my term “launch lethargy” 🤣
Truth. I hadn’t bought anything in months until Tati. I just got so turned off
At this point i’m literally overwhelmed about the amount of plastic, paper, water and all resources the brands used to develop that huge amount of unnecessary makeup 🤯
And the animals
miriam_vaz omg yessssss the waste must be staggering
miriam_vaz not only that but the mika that they use is hand harvested by children in India smfh its so sad
Its beyond reasonable.
the way to get them to stop producing it is to stop buying it. the only reason they make it is because they know someone will pay for it.
I miss old youtube.. when i bought a palette and for months I was able to see whole bunch of new ways how to use it.
As a consumer, I'm not bored, I'm overwhelmed.
Side note: that IS a great makeup bag. Tired of carrying multiple bags for makeup/brushes/skincare.
@@swesttttt I loved Wayne Goss' review. I trust his videos more than most YT influencers.
Yeah I REALLY wish I would've bought hers instead of Shane's. No shade at all, I just think hers is way prettier & more wearable.
Same!
I love Tati's palette! Every occasion to wear makeup, I've worn her shadows... The matte and metallic are great for work and I can add sequin or glitter to change the look for going out without redoing the entire eyeshadows :-)
I’m in a “no make up buying phase.” I love anti hauls!!!
Future ex Mrs. Malcolm literally the truest thing I’ve ever hearddddd
I bought the Kathleen lights big palette and that was the only thing I bought in the last couple of months

Zoe Ortega same. I have even refrained from the Kathleen palette but I admit it's been the only Temptation in months. Have you had a chance to try it out and would you recommend it? I don't have experience with Colourpop shadows
Future ex Mrs. Malcolm saaaame and I’d so much rather spend more time appreciating the products I do have ya know?

Brittany M agree, hands down. I trust Kristi’s opinion on brands she uses in her videos
I have so much respect for you when you included “editing Kristi” it shows that you do your research and care about representing things properly. Moreover you are giving us, the consumer, more information. You didn’t have to include that clip but you did because you have integrity and I appreciate you so much!

Only bought the Jackie Aina pallet and the Mini Breaker all year and I dont feel like Im missing out on anything else 🤷🏼♀️
2018 I bought EVERYTHING 2019 I bought literally nothing.
Idk. I bought the BH cosmetics ultimate matte palette. But that's it. And it's awesome.
I agree! I feel like Jackie’s palette was overshadowed 😩
It was. And you know her's is gorgeous! It's probably the best looking (in my opinion) of the 5 they have launched. Why didn't they talk about it? Why didn't Kristi get it in PR? sketchy.
👏👏👏👏
I had no interest in JA's palette. However, I felt bad for her since it barely had a chance to breathe, before another palette launched from ABH
Ohh I get it! OverSHADOWED. Nice pun
Corrie R they even talked about the second norvina pallet in the comments section on her launch post before it came out. Really rubbed me the wrong way. 😒 this was supposed to be her moment and they ruined it.
I agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY that brands need to use their socials so much more. Slow down on releases and then explain how to do different looks.
Back in the day we only got holiday collections. 😂 those were the big releases.
Shania Newman yes I remember being so excited for the Mac holiday collection, now I could care less.
I 100% agree with you. Everything is just so over saturated.
I love your version of an anti haul. Everyone else just says "This just doesn't seem like something I'd use" and you are going all in about the whole industry and how frustrating that is. Go girl, they need to hear it! :D
Gabriela Daneshka this is what we need! honest to goodness! her reasoning is so soo valid and really a consumer’s point of view!
Something needs to change.
ive gotten rid of most of my palettes too. i gave them all to my mom lol
THIS 👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤
I finally bought one of the Urban Decay Naked palettes this year (Ultraviolet), and I'm just now getting into real makeup, not the cheap stuff they sell at the drugstore.
Thanks for the warning, guys. I don't want to end up with more makeup than a typical MUA. I only buy makeup if I know I will use ALL the colors in the palette, and I do lots of research on it before I buy it (quality of formula and packaging, long-wearing or not, color pigmentation, makeup artist reviews/user comments on UA-cam, drama/'tea', etc....)
I think I've done pretty well, considering the temptations before me and the misguided need to be a normal almost 30 year old woman who wants to look trendy.
Every single thing you said, I was like ... “me. That’s me.”
Sooooo “old palette” tutorials I’m super down for
Amanda Martell new tutorials from 2017/2018 hit palettes is something that I’ve been longing for.
Avery D same! i feel like jeffree spends more time on each launch so there’s time to get exited for the next one
Yessss to Tati beauty!
Same only eyeliner and mascara till Shane's comes out. I need to use what I have. I'm likely gonna get tati's too cause gotta support the girl

anna oop me lmao
makeup just doesn't feel as special or exciting as it used to.
Bailey Keiper its such a double edged sword, nice having so many options but like, its so overwhelming instead of fun lol
Tbh I feel like the only people who would do that are the people who are trying waaay too hard for clout on insta 😬
Meeh! Meeh! Hand up!
A lot of brands outside of beauty offer afterpay now, it’s a great option for people who don’t have a credit card and are just trying to spread out expenses
I've used afterpay multiple times. It comes down to someone not having enough self control to wait until they've paid off one order.
Whenever I feel like I have to buy on every single launch, I quit buying. I used what I have and I'm loving my huda nude pallete as I have many used of it.
Anti-haul: James Charles mini pallete

i almost feel as though ABH has fallen into the MAC trap.
Remember when everyone went crazy for their summer collections?
I feel like Mac isn't as popular or trendy as they used to be. I remember back in the day if you had MAC make up you were RICH and GOOD at make up lol. Yea no one's excited about it

Apparently Vol 3 was supposed to be released for "festival season" along w the glitters, but there was "a lot of problems". (According to Norvina on Twitter, anyway)
Carlis palette, definitely screams Valentine’s Day!
Re: the constant product launches:
“When everyone is super, no one is”
Anyone who quotes The Incredibles.... is a winner in my book. 👊🏼
Alyssa palette, riviera palette, Jackie aina palette, norvina1, norvina 2, norvina 3, Carly bybel....... 7 palettes so far and there might even be a holiday palette later on
They also released 2 quad palettes, daytime and sunset.
There was also this palette that had this golden glitter packaging. The palette's packaging matches the packaging of the loose highlighters. Anyone remember the name?
@@twinklenailsit do you mean the Sultry palette? X
@@lbhtrue13 yesss! I only remember it because tati mentioned it on her channel!
Evelina I didn’t even know about these argh.. too many products at once
I don't even wear makeup and this is my third video in a row of hers I'm watching.
Joshua Michael she’s the best
Shes so down to earth and honest. I truly enjoy hearing what Kristi has to say and watching what she's got going on. She's a fun person all around 😁
You are a smart man😉
Welcome to the club!! I do love makeup, but I love watching kristi either way. She is so fun.
She is so sweet and fun and honest. It is like hanging with your sister or bestie
I totally agree that Jackie and Carli's palettes were launched way too close together. It really did take sales away from both and that really sucks for them.
“instead of wanting to try them all, it’s the exact opposite and I never want to buy from them again” - Kristi
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
I have too many palettes they will expire before I ever use them up 🤦♀️
Katsitsiaientos *Sadie* I know drug store prices are increasing too, but some drug store products are rivaling higher end brands now.
100 % truth.... I feel the same way ♥
Agreed 👏
1000!!
As someone that is scared of branching out of neutral eye looks, I agree brands should put more time into showing tutorials with their products! I would be much more willing to buy from them knowing how the hell to use them!
ABH launched so many palettes they couldn’t even name all the shades in the Norvina collection
CodeineFolk * they have turned me off so much!!!
CodeineFolk * damnn hahaha and that's the tea!!!
Yes. I thought that was so cheap.
You honestly sound incredibly smart when it comes to marketing strategy
she doesn't get enough respect
TRUE. SHES WAYYYYYYY UNDERRATED THAN SHE SHOULD BE
I agree 100% even Jeffree Star though he ALWAYS sells out, he gives time inbetween his launches. I'd rather brands take their time and create something they love!
And it gives time to save and plan it’s exciting
I LOVE that brand! It’s so high quality and well thought out and just bomb!
@@jessicajones1791 exactly!
Codi May I’m literally going to spend all my money on the collection he’s doing with Shane.
Exactly, and he’s not doing a holiday collection, he’s just doing the Shane collection as the holiday collection.
I whole-heartedly agree with you. I don't even remember the last time I bought a palette because every time I see a new palette that I like, my first thought is "well maybe I should just wait a few weeks because another palette will probably come out soon that I like even better" and then I don't end up buying any palettes.
That's exactly what i do
Exactly!!!!!
I just want to say, I'm so happy you mentioned the ABH x JA makeup collaboration. As a POC, it's nice to hear other non-POC take a stand. It was refreshing. You didn't say anything controversial, just something that needed to be said.
I’m Impressed with your post-film, edit you added regarding Victoria’s products and the facts you made an effort to clarify !! Good for you!
People are not bored, people are OVERWHELMED!!!
Amanda Murphy 💯 I can’t anymore!
i purchased a set from colorpop last week on like a wednesday, then two days later new stuff came out and i loved that too! But i'm like fuck if i wasn't crunched for money i'd buy it
personally, i’m not getting bored of the “low” amount of products brands release, i’m getting bored of the same damn nudes and shimmer being put into the palettes!
Stop stealing a comment... dumbass
The easy gravy train of influencer collabs and more eye shadow palettes than we could ever use in our lifetime is over and brands don't know wtf to do now 🤷♀️
Also love that she’s defending Jackie whilst critiquing the brand ABH because valid.
I feel like the more ABH is putting out, the more it’s lowering the value of the brand. It doesn’t feel special anymore.
Yes!!! Exactly!!!
Like I own MR, Sultry, Subculture.... even those existing palettes don’t feel as... idk... special. I hope they watch this and read the comments to see that this isn’t the way to go. 😩😩😩
That’s how I feel.
sberry0831 this!!
Same. Earlier this year i was actually looking at adding one abh palette to my collection. But when they started spitting out a palette every month it just started feeling like it was nothing special anymore.
How are people getting “bored”? Haha. No one is bored. there is TOO MUCH GOING ON! We ARE too overwhelmed. Like come on ABH!
Kerri Simonsen 9
We have no money to buy every palette 😭
“Do they need to slow down so we can buy it all? Or do we need to quit buying makeup and use what we have”
Ugh.
Wayne Goss teaches..... Bailey Sarian is great for tutorials as well and is phenomenal at doing her makeup, so is Mel Thompson....
Could you imagine how beautiful and exciting it would be if ABH had released the Norvina palettes once a year instead of all three in four weeks
Right?! Or maybe even just 1 seasonal and 1 holiday? It would really amp up the suspense factor.
trish85364 totally! Especially volume 3!I remember when ABH launches were monumental. Them dropping a new palette used to make the beauty world stop.

Sammy J thats fuckin ridiculous
I gasped when i saw this comment
And now two mini Norvina palettes to this list. That’s too much!
And from that ENTIRE list, I've only bought ONE product. So, when they realize they are actually losing money (because I don't think any consumer or collector exclusively buys ABH) maybe they will chill the f*$k out. Two launches a year from every brand would STILL be WAY MORE than enough!
ABH was my fav brand because they wouldn’t release sooo many products until this year !! I didn’t buy any products from this year
The amount of launches is so overwhelming it’s turned me off of buying makeup. I used to love makeup and watching videos about makeup. Now when a new product launches it’s not exciting anymore. It’s pretty upsetting. I really enjoy that you are bringing light to this topic.
Ctsssssssssss
Quite frankly, I'm glad we're having this talk Kristi. Personally, I'm sick of the prices and the oversaturated market.
Brandy Odle that’s a *perfect* description “oversaturated”. Exactly.

Totally feel this, too many products, and these companies aren’t thinking of the customers. You want a loyal customer base... you can’t shell out product like you don’t care about each launch
Sometimes I feel like we are the same person. Don’t judge me. You’re not my real dad. Unless you want to be.
Remember the MAC limited editions back in the day? It was so anticipated, everybody was excited for the previews. Those were the golden days ❤
I miss that time so much
The last one I remember is the Alice in Wonderland one. I wanted the Rocky Horror stuff so bad
I just need brands to launch high quality products that become staples in my daily routine instead of 20,000 kinda similar liquid lipsticks
I felt like literally days after Jackie's palette launched the norvina one launched and I was so confused?? Just felt shitty towards jackie, like they took her moment away
Liz they buried her launch with the other palettes I thought that was very shady 😔💔
Liz I feel like cp also did that to Kathleen with her so jaded palette as well as Safiya Nygaard with her launch. I just feel so bad for Jackie and all of them because they worked hard and it just gets buried with all the other launches
I definitely agree.
I COMPLETELY AGREE! I remember when the modern renaissance palette was their hot ticket item and I swear it was the baby for like a year... it was in everyone’s kit, ppl hit pan on them! I still have mine and love it dearly. They are flooding the consumer. and is not appreciated
Teenage me: Oh no I hit pan, how am I going to afford another?
Adult me: gets super excited to hit pan
Tasha Stiltner r/panporn
Tasha Stiltner foreaaallll
And then when you find out that that product isn't sold anymore: crying/oh. just found a dupe for it, nice
Nunya Bidness Omg... dying! 😂
Teenage me could hit pan! Adult me hasn't seen one! :(
Haven’t bought an Abh palette since modern renaissance and I’m a makeup lover but none of them after that one really caught my eye...
Amen K Modern Renaissance was a big disappointment for me! And I paid full price for it.
I could hear you ramble on for days and I would never ever get bored of you
Ivory Cherry~Same!
I always smoke a joint and listen to her before I go to bed, so relaxing lol
It's like she's actually engaging in conversation with us.
But now I love makeup still but I used to love to play and practice now I’m like eh I can sleep in 😂
Makeup companies are not even giving their consumers time to get bored with their products
Yes! And if its "limited edition" then they will *have to* buy it. 🙄🙄 I'm so over the consumerism culture in america
As someone who just got into make up all this stuff is really overwhelming
Cloud D'Vasquez That’s what came to my mind when she was talking about the restaurant!
Omg I didn’t hear about that!!!
On a related note:
I started working in a cosmetics retailer recently and I’m honestly starting to wake up to just how wasteful the cosmetic industry is.
J Choi I also just started working in a cosmetics retailer recently and I 100% agree!
J Choi This needs to be pinned.
When is Kristi droppin her hit single "I feel like people are going to hate me"💖😂
Jessica Limon Well, there was something dropping here already...
It’s a banger!
LOL. I love how this video was just a lesson in Economics: supply, demand, and pricing.
"People get bored"? People don't have enough time, space and money to consume that many products. Companies should concentrate on making classy products, not over-priced toys for women
megha sharma that’s a perfect description.
I don’t love nor hate Jeffree star but his company is my favorite makeup company right now. Everything they do is done with patience and it’s always top quality
Lorena A the look is so immature though I’ll never purchase anything Jeffree Star
Lisa Marie good thing No one asked for your opinion tho
Lisa Marie honestly, Jeffree has some of the classiest and most creative and artistic packaging i have ever seen. Also it is ALWAYS the highest quality and why should the way it looks stop you from being non biased towards the actual products because they are always spot on and gorgeous formulas.
His formula is just *chefs kiss* so damn good. My fav palettes are my jeffree palettes.
And the lipsticks! I stopped wasting my money on other brands once I tried the Velour liquid lipsticks. I totally fell in love with his brand this year.
I honestly get more “bored” of seeing the same brand launch something every week! It takes the excitement away from the brand IMO.
Leslie Y I agree. I hope Colourbob can slow down on these monochromatic palettes and give me another SS moment🥰 Something new(ish). If that’s possible at this point lol
Agree!
The only brand I’m ok with that does this is colorpop mostly bec they are really good quality!
You are NOT too negative. I look for channels with honesty.. I hate watching make up channels where everything is “so so so good” nah. Show me the bad stuff so I don’t waste my money!!!! You do you. We love it
Anastasia definitely feels like they’re cheapening their brand
I've felt that way since they released glitters out of nowhere. I just don't get it.
I read somewhere that they are getting ready to sell the company so they are doing these launches to make their numbers look better...
People don’t have money. So they can make it cheaper or don’t sell anything.
Or they just made it cheaper like bought worse ingredients etc
I agree!
Agree! I just got the eyeshadow primer but that is the first thing in two years I’ve bought from them. It’s doesn’t feel thought out.
I’m a broke college girl, how am I supposed go buy an ~$45 almost 3x a month when I haven’t even hit pan on my favorite one yet?
Miranda Gonzalez for real! Give us time to get to know the product before releasing more ugh
Brands need to understand "Quality over Quantity"
The saturation of products has made me feel like quality is a lost art. Nobody seems to care about making makeup that people want to use up anymore.
Yaaasssss
🙌
Idk if it's just where I'm located, but I swear the only people I see carrying LV are exclusively white trash 😂
Edit to add: I think MK is tacky to be honest.
Your color match is insane. Watching you apply your foundation was so satisfying lol
