A lot of people think this is about a friend who betrays you when you find success, but remember Joyner wrote this. I think this is more about the way you THINK when you find success. Never knowing if you did enough, never knowing when they will turn on you, never knowing if they are genuine or not, never knowing if they are satisfied or resentful. His friend could be saying something kind but because he's successful he doesn't know whether its genuine or not. Or at least that's the way I read it.

No friends, no girl. Yet he has everything given to him or he stole it.. but the guy still takes the little bag of smoke i had to keep my head sane. Thats a true friend there.. before all that he never stole or asked for shit from me. I never did him either.. now tell me youd help out a broski again?
