Hiya, nice vid, love what you do :) I'm trying to shazam the rad song that plays during "2024 and beyond". I'm getting "Mansfield - Atelier 507", which is close but not quite it... Could you help me out here? ;)
Watching one of Maria's videos always reminds me that there is an enormous side of the industry that sadly doesn't get nearly the attention it deserves. So many beautiful and bizarre games that make me excited and proud of this medium. Thanks for such a wonderful video, Maria. Wishing you all the best for 2024.
Jesus, thank you so much for talking about Neyasnoe! This is an art project from group of russian underground poets, musicians and artists, and i am really glad it gets some recognition. Thank you! and merry christmas
I am really enjoying the sort of melancholic and heartfelt genuineness of your videos and other creators who are embracing the bold decision to be transgressive in cutting past all the incentives to not be so. Your videos make me want to call a friend and ask how they're doing and make them some coffee and have a conversation. I recognize how hard it is to get by, but the patreon is a great way for people to support other's creative efforts. I will say if you do a sponsorship, the way you did it with Wanted Dead was great. A very strange and misunderstood game and you talked about it in a way that wasn't just trying to push it and you actually cared about the game because it isn't just a product. Great video.
Thank you for this! I'm focusing in playing more indie games, so this video had great timming for me! I'm really in the mood for smaller and weirder games. Just played Nun Massacre, I'm about to play Signalis soon, then Night in the Woods, Narita Boy and Gris. 2023 made me love gaming so much more, there's so much incredible games out there to play.
I nearly jumped out of my chair when I saw you shout out Maraganger in your suggested channels section. Her work has turned me on to SO many interesting titles I never would have heard of otherwise, Planet Laika foremost among them. Not only that but her style is badass and distinct, and her analysis is surprisingly poignant. My favorite line of hers was when she covered Galerians and starts discussing the culture of 'edginess' in media: "Edge is just you trying to express your emotions without making yourself vulnerable." That's stuck with me longer than I would have expected, and maybe helped to reconcile my own edgy teen years a little bit. Love seeing these year-end roundups from my favorite creators. Looking forward to all your future content this year Euro!
Eurothug fr the only person who can give me a handful of new games I've not heard of. Usually when I look at long ass "play these super niche indie games no one has heard about" style videos, they just say like hollowknight and some more games that I have played, own, or at least have had on my steam wishlist for like 2-3 years. LIke genuinely rare to find 1 new game from those videos, but with this channel, I find 5+ in this brand of video
I love getting a notification from a UA-camr I completely forgot about. "I don't remember subbing or ringing the bell. But it seems like past-me liked that content, so I'll watch it" And present-me know remembers why I subbed and rang the bell. That was a great watch and the most interesting list of 2023 I've seen thus far!
I've been subscribed since wayyyy back when your Death Stranding video was new. I'm really happy that things are going well and your channel is growing. Always love your videos, since they're always insightful, show me games I haven't heard about and tbh just have a chill vibe that I really enjoy.
Absolutely phenomenal video! Pretty much all games I didn't already know were added to my wishlist, and the ones I did know, I loved playing. Season was especially a favorite of mine back in January, and it's been absolutely heartbreaking seeing what was done to the development team, as well as seeing the many layoffs in other companies as well. Given the work they produced, I'm hoping the future for these devs is also bright - much like the beginning of the new age in Season. I don't often comment on videos (which I plan on changing in 2024), but I just wanted to take the time to thank you for all the incredible work you've done in 2023. Your videos are always a great time, and I watch them almost as soon as I see them on my feed, which I'm sure is a sentiment echoed by lots of your subscribers. Your video on "Say No! More" for example often pops into my mind, and many since then have caused me the same introspection that one did. So, congratulations on the 100k - it's very well deserved, and I know that number will just keep on growing. I hope you, and anyone reading this, has a fantastic 2024. ❤
I love some more attention for Season. Stories about the ending of a time are so much my shit. Also I put a lot of effort into making my journal. Such a beautiful game.
14:30 Speaking as someone who did get laid off from the Industry this year (don't weep for me my new job pays twice as well as the old one), it isn't as easy as just "making changes". Most people that get laid off, get laid off because the company literally cannot financially support the expense of employees. It's often the choice between layoffs or cutting other expenses like development time (read: heavy crunch). Further, you saw so many layoffs this year because we're on the other side of the Covid boom, in which the Industry saw a huge influx of cash from people sitting in quarantine, and thus, more hires in studios. Most places sized up to meet the extra cash, but years after now can't sustain that inflated size.
One more addendum. A lot of layoffs came with the Embracer group shutdowns. Embracer had this ridiculous idea of buying up as many things as possible so that it itself would look more attractive of being bought up. Embracer had no way of paying for this, so it ended up giving a lot of what they bought the EA-style kiss of death.
Played "Swollen To Bursting" after watching this video. I must say I never thought I would like a Yume Nikki inspired game to this extent because I generally hate the abstract, trial and error aspect of it. But the game is so charming and offers (mostly) helpful tips wherever possible. Loved it! Thanks for the recommendation!
Thank you so much for this video! I spent my childhood replaying Earthbound a dozen times and my teenage years on a Yume Nikki image board & IRC, but somehow I never heard of Swollen to Bursting. I immediately downloaded it and I can't way to go explore it!
i really appreciate the fact that i actually haven't heard of a lot of these. i feel like a lot of these videos are just kind of "anything that's not a huge studio" and i loved discovering before the green moon... i feel like im really gonna love it
I just discovered your channel through the Babbdi video and i I'm already a fan of your work. Thanks for the recommendations, is nice to see people who keep it real on UA-cam.
Great video as always! but that final edit! **Chef's Kiss** great job all around! You are by far a must watch every time I see you in my feed! Take Care!
I love bringing back and sharing the love of favorite creator shoutouts, I miss being able to more easily see other people that creators like. Much love
I felt exactly the same when playing Neyasnoe. I'm from a small town in the east of Serbia and it's bone chilling how accurate and familiar it is to home. Loved it. Veliki pozdrav iz Srbije, Marija.
It was wild, as I was watching your 'The Strangely Familiar,' section for Neyasnoe, I was thinking...of all the places that I've been this reminds me of Serbia. Only been to Belgrade and Novi Sad, but it absolutely caught the vibe of walking around and exploring there that I've had for a short time.
I love it when creators highlight the more obscure indie titles and "AA" gems that come out during the year. I find that many times we think to ourselves, "I wish they still made games like (classic game) today", without realizing the wealth of indies in existence (and coming out) that would fulfill that exact need. I got many of these titles on sale as a Xmas gift to myself! That's why I keep supporting creators such as yourself, great work!
The 100k is very well deserved, Maria! I'm really, really looking forward to the future of the channel. Your uploads are always a must-watch whenever I get the alerts. Big ups and here's to a successful 2024!
I am so glad I found your channel when I have. Your taste in games perfectly aligns with my own. Your run through of upcoming games at the end is inspiring.
Seeing you enjoy a kinetic novel brings me hope to see Umineko or other novel experiences covered! Also, have you considered setting up UA-cam's membership or joining Nebula? Thank you so much for all the effort you pour into this, each video is a pleasure to go through! ❤
Corn Kidz recreates the look of those early 3D games perfectly. I love that CRT flatter, lower fidelity look. HD games can be so visually bright, smooth and busy. Maybe it's the nostalgia talking but it's a very soothing look.
I never expected Neyasnoe to have such an effect on me, but I'm so glad to have played it this year. Merry Christmas and thanks for being the only good UA-camr ☺️
I'm one of those people that came by after EyepatchWolf made his recommendation, and I do not regret it one bit. Every time I see the push notification for one of your videos, I make sure to get a snack so I can sit and enjoy whatever topic you choose to speak on. Every video has been an absolute joy to watch, and I can't wait to hear more of your opinions.
i love watching people's fave games/some wrap up at the end of the year and am glad you also did one. thanks for taking the time to share yours with us. i especially enjoyed the indies. i wasn't aware with most of them, but now have all of them wishlisted. they seem right up my alley ah!! hope you have a great rest of the year. i think it's been 2 years by this point since i first came across your videos. really appreciate and enjoy your content 🤘 best wishes for you and the channel in 2024. see yall next year⚡
I'm honestly not a horror fan, so there are probably going to be a bunch of upcoming videos that won't be for me (though I bet I'll check out some of those, too). But this was wonderful, and clued me in to a lot of things I need to check out, game- and channel-wise both. Thank you, and good job getting through 2023. Here's hoping for a better 2024 for everybody.
Sitting down with tea and snacks on a late evening to watch your videos is always a treat Congrats on passing 100k! Can't wait to see what content you've got in store for the future

ahhh super sorry forgot to comment but great video as always Maria thank you for all the hard work in all ya vids this year! it's truly a pleasure to see both you and your vids get more and more love looking forward to cheering you on more and you getting more love in 2024
Great reccs. Will definitely check out some of them. I've started to enjoy shorter games that I can usually finish in a session and these indie titles really fit the format.

Hello maria! I have loved every video you've put out over the past few years. I'm always absolutely delighted whenever a video of yours shows up in my notifications. Thanks so much for everything!! 💖💖💖💖
Awesome video, lots of good recommendations! Keep doing you! I’m not much for the horror genre myself but I still find your videos incredibly thoughtful and interesting to watch. Looking forward to next year!
What a wonderful video! It's a great summary of some of the cool creative games that came out this year and I always love the hype real for future releases! I'm actually wrapping up the last Control DLC as we speak and I'm really looking forward to playing Alan Wake 2 soon after!
Thank you for this recap. I can fully relate to it, when you said you „want to feel something“. Therefore I put some of them on my list… so once again 🤗 and 👍🏼
RE4 remake's VR mode has quickly become my favourite video game of all time. If you get the chance, definitely check it out! Thanks for the recommendations, and really cool sizzle reel for future releases to look out for!
I wonder if horror content performs well because its fans are more willing to seek out an unknown experience. Horror by its very nature cannot be 'the expected' and finding a new creator is an opportunity to find content that the user has never seen before, in presentation, interpretation, or the type of content represented. Thank you for giving us all additional channels to check out, I know I and many others will find joy in them. So many cool videos to check out, so many long hours at work to fill.
My taste in games is almost completely different from yours, but I still always really enjoy watching your videos! I hope you manage to make YT your full time job, and continue making great content like this!

I feel you. At 41 I'm more likely to play a game about a frog running a sticker shop than I am any AAA release.
I just ranked 45 games from 2023, most of them obscure.

Seeing both Little Devil Inside and Silksong hurts me so much haha. Thanks you for the wonderful content this year! Keep up the amazing work!
Found your channel a few weeks ago and have been binge watching all your videos until now. Love your work, could listen for hours! Much love 💕
The world can often surprise us in its kindness. Thanks for all these videos that keep me company during my day to day

The (lol) after Silksong is just painful but true.
Love your videos, seriously hope you continue and become ever more successful in this new year.

big ups for showing swollen to bursting I found that game out of nowhere and I loved it from the first 5 seconds

This is the end of year video I’ve been looking forward to the most this year. Have a Merry Christmas, Maria!
I'm really glad to have found both you and Tango through Super Eyepatchwolf. I've been binging both of your videos!
The 100k is very well deserved, Maria! I'm really, really looking forward to the future of the channel. Your uploads are always a must-watch whenever I get the alerts. Big ups and here's to a successful 2024!
Great year for the channel - loved every video. Here’s to another year of games!
It's amazing to see the channel grown as much as it has and you're very deserving of the success. Onward to another great year!
I am so glad I found your channel when I have. Your taste in games perfectly aligns with my own.

Great video!
Extra points for the Gitaroo Man song in the background of the Neyasnoe segment. That gave me a very nostalgic and homely feeling. :D
Happy Holidays! Love your videos as always.
Corn Kidz recreates the look of those early 3D games perfectly. I love that CRT flatter, lower fidelity look. HD games can be so visually bright, smooth and busy. Maybe it's the nostalgia talking but it's a very soothing look.
This is the only "games you might have not played" where I didn't know about most of the games showcased. Great job Euro.
I never expected Neyasnoe to have such an effect on me, but I'm so glad to have played it this year. Merry Christmas and thanks for being the only good UA-camr ☺️

seeing the bus sign in Neyasnoe made my nostalgic
Your videos are always a treat! So thoughtful and thorough.
And thanks for shouting out Pim! They're good people!
Your "2024 and beyond" teaser reel had better video game content than the game awards.
@Maraganger deserves all the shout outs one of the most underrated UA-camrs
Indie titles deserved to be more accepted in the medium than these types of games outside of big-budget titles, as there are the types of these games to push artistic and weird content which is something that's been missing for a long time when in today as big publishers are only concentrating on developing big budgets titles of the mainstream audience. Merry Christmas and looking forward to the new year with upcoming and exciting titles!
Great end of the year vid! I’ve got a handful of games I wanna play now lol. You’re my favorite UA-camr I’ve discovered this year.
Videos like this always reminds me why I love this channel, resonates so much with my taste in games getting out of the comfort zone that games nowadays feels to me
Man, I look forward to your videos monthly, always such a treat!

i was just thinking about rewatching this series, hope you have a merry christmas :)
We seem to have very very similar taste and desires from the games that we play, so that was like an instant subscribe.
Great reccs. Will definitely check out some of them. I've started to enjoy shorter games that I can usually finish in a session and these indie titles really fit the format.
Fantastic video mate!! Never heard of Neyasnoe before, seems really interesting, thanks for the recommendation
Finally! This year one! I literally subscribed to this channel because of these videos. I loved them and the rest of your content!

Love your videos! Hope you keep making them for a long time
I wonder if horror content performs well because its fans are more willing to seek out an unknown experience.
So happy to see Corn Kidz 64 on this list
My taste in games is almost completely different from yours, but I still always really enjoy watching your videos! I hope you manage to make YT your full time job, and continue making great content like this!
