I was just looking at Halaand’s performance last season, 7 penalties….. in Sunday’s game Halaand still wanted a penalty which leads me to ask, were refs just awarding penalties and cards in 2023?
Refs avoid giving penalties in the fixtures like this. Haaland has had a fair point. His shirt was pulled constantly in the box. It was very obvious. But no penalties in games like this. Unless, someone clearly knocks down player in one-on-one opportunity or plays handball
@@FG-yh9oq Refs should avoid giving penalties in all games not just the big fixtures. If we are looking at 7 penalties last season that’s 21 points. We seat here and call them the greatest and they are no doubt but it seems as though they were getting very lucky last season and nearly got lucky again on Sunday if the ref was to issue a penalty easily.
50 goals in 50 games
There’s nothing wrong with him , they are just expected 40 league goals every year that’s not really happening. Salah scored his most epl goals his first season . Everyone thought haaland numbers will increase every single year. He will always be amongst the golden boot leaders though just don’t expect every season to break records
@JoshuaGuevara-yf7wp
The crazy thing is Haaland still has 29 goals and 6 assists in 35 matches and missed two months of games through injury. And he still has another 15 odd games to play this year. These guys are using last year’s numbers against him with this season not even being done yet.
@@Photosoflife Thats how it is when u are a great player. A down season of haaland is greatness for an normal player.
Can anyone see how slow Diaz and Rodri is to pass the ball forward towards attacking midfielders or Haaland? They are passing back or sideways to much and the opponent defenders get the chance to come back. Everything is slow in City at the moment and easy to read for other teams.
Any the media loves touting Rodri as the best midfielder in the prem 😂😂😂😂
@@kiloDelta-wo6gm He might be one of the best but he is too slow
He’s not the best imo he’s a very very top midfielder but any decent midfielder would look phenomenal in city’s system
The real Tapaaland's exposed since day 1 😆😆
Man City misses gundogan a lot and haaland had to be subbed off for Alvarez without tap ins he’s in trouble
They miss Mahrez who provides outstanding crosses.
@dwaynejones4403
You need to watch City much more closely to understand the situation. Silva, Doku, and Grealish never provide first time service to Haaland. All three of them constantly cut back inside onto their favored foot and do not play the ball to Haaland. It’s like clockwork.
That game got me missing my playing days so much
Talk about Saliba n Gabriel
You'd swear Haaland has 2 goals all season. I heard some stupid comment about Haaland being a League 2 player, how dumb do you have to be to say that and actually mean it.
Media blaming everyone else for not creating chances or a low block or even praise the opposition just to protect Haaland. 😂 Listen Haaland was a great tapin merchant last season but this season even that bit is lacking, the end.
Still top scorer in the prem and joint top scorer in champions league on a bad season. He’s still amazing
@@JEANKalubi He is though and as far as being a pure 9 goes, he is a natural. But with respect to all round game development , he falls so short at 23. Even his goals, as clinical as he can be, are scored 95% from low risk high reward areas i.e the box and hardly outside it, I haven't seen work rate, one twos, hold up play, and mind you this is a new season, last season is gone, he ranked second on the balon dor for it.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Tap in merchant 😂 league 2 link up level
@philipt12345
City-87 games, 81 goals, 15 assists
Dortmund-89 games, 86 goals, 23 assists
Salzburg-27 games, 29 goals, 7 assists
Norway-31 games, 27 goals, 3 assists
Total-234 games, 223 goals, 48 assists
@@Photosoflife Why assists? He's hardly a playmaker. Peter Crouch has more assists than Paul Scholes.
@claudecarlyle9284
Because his job as a forward is to generate goals via scoring himself and assists.
@@PhotosoflifeBOOM!!!! FACTS!!!!! mic dropped....
@@Photosoflife Assists are meaningless without context - playing at the sword's point of an attack means Haaland (or Shearer) gets a lot of assists, but do you think Peter Crouch was a better playmaker than Paul Scholes because he had more assists? Haaland can't link play or make a throughball, he just squares it in the box or someone scores from outside the box.
Look at opportunity cost - City scored more goals prior to Haaland's arrival, made more sprints, more take-ons/carries, more pressures, more forward passes, more shots and chances, more passing sequences in final-third, higher xG; even defensively, City (with Haaland) concede more turnovers/counters, concede more chances/suffer more shots at their own goal...because he can't play the possession carousel.
Dear ESPN,
Do you guys see? Do you see how far football has already dropped levels since Ronaldo and Messi left Europe? Do you see how boring football is right now ? Do you see there’s no competition in no league between two or more individual players? Do you see there’s no one player in any league That can go through the park himself with 5-6 defenders in the box like Messi ,and score? Do you see all them Ronaldo fan boy players not doing anything on a big stage,cause they never cracked the code to his work ethic?? Do you see why you can’t compare this Manchester City team with 2010 Barcelona ?
Mario brings up a good point. Bernardo could have torched Kiwior 1v1 all game long. I don't know why Pep didn't exploit that. I'm GLAD he didn't, but 5 minutes in I was already scared poopless when I saw Bernardo dance the way he can. He should have taken Kiwior into the box. He's a good defender, but 1v1 Bernardo had him easy.
@therealking6202
Bernardo is a huge reason why Haaland doesn’t get service. He always just eventually cuts back onto his left foot and never plays the ball to Haaland in stride or when the defense is running back toward their own goal. Silva is talented no doubt. But guys like him, Doku, and Grealish never play the ball to Haaland.
@@Photosoflife I didn't know that about Silva. Is that why Pep dressed down Grealish after the game?
I am not at all Man City fan nor do I watch premier league but from the outside looking in it looks like to me anyway Haaland is just not a big game player not like how Jude Mbappe and Vini are being a top goal scorer essentially means nothing if you cant show up when it really matters
@Model_Roe
Your first sentence alone makes it very clear that you should not be commenting on Haaland.
Fact
*WHAT ABOUT FODEN* ?
@RJ12347
He’s English and gets a free pass.
Haaland is not struggling. Rather City's mid-field. No creativity, no service. The guy may want to think twice if this is still the club he wants to play for in coming years.
Haaland can't create his own openings to score. Gabriel had him for breakfast last 2 games.
The reason it lacks creativity is because of Haaland, though. How can a team that led every offensive metric before his arrival for multiple seasons lack creativity, and when he suddenly he arrives, it's their fault?
Zero football knowledge the whole city team is playing to set up for Mr tap ins .
@@claudecarlyle9284 The reason is that the critical mass in the mid-fields has been lost with the departures of Gundoghan, David Silva, Fernandinho. The proper replacements have not been found. Gundoghan was one last critical part of the chain that formed the capable mid-field. There is no playmaker right now. Still good mid-field, but nothing special anymore.
@@SAGE_Ox Not true. Recall last season. City vs United, City vs Arsenal... Everybody was on scoring sheet. Haaland often created spaces for others by pulling in few defenders. But the main strength was the mid-field and service towards 18-yard-box. Not much is clicking in the mid-field right now. I'm not saying that it is really bad. It is just not as creative as it used to be. I do not blame Haaland. What is he supposed to do with the lack of positional play and passes in the mid-field. He has not been brought in to show great dribbling or short passing skills in tight spaces... etc. He is a classical striker and he proved that last season. But we have had a different mid-field back then,
It's like people forget Haaland had one of the best premier league seasons ever just last season lol and should have won the Balon D'or. That said the way Pep want's the team to play does not suit Haaland if teams play a low block. He needs open space and or crosses into the box. City would rather hold the ball for 25 minutes than cross it in. Has nothing to do with Haaland. He's struggling because his role in this team is to be an old fashioned number 9. So when the midfield struggles so does he. Simple as that.
No he shouldn´t have won ballon dor 😂
23 touches way better than his 10
haaland suits a club like Real madrid..
How Haaland is struggling. He is top scorer of EPL and yet struggling? this Luis guys is still wearing red shades....
He is struggling relative to the standards that he has set for himself
Liverpool did it against him Arsenal Villa Spurs
Pathetic Harland struggling with 29 goals and being the EPL top scorer. League 2 level footballer going to win the PL Golden Boot lol
It’s very clear that the plastic trolls criticizing Haaland never actually watched him play for Dortmund or Salzburg. Because if you actually watched Haaland play for those clubs, you’d know that Haaland is insanely lethal playing in open space and an absolute monster on a counterattacking side. Exhibit A-His absolute rocket shot in the 2020 Champions League match against PSG right before Covid shut everything down. People who call Haaland a “tap-in merchant” immediately reveal themselves as clueless about Haaland. How he plays at City against primarily extreme low block opposition is night and day different to how he played at Dortmund and Salzburg primarily in open space. Haaland’s numbers are off the charts and ridiculous.
City-87 games, 81 goals, 15 assists
Dortmund-89 games, 86 goals, 23 assists
Salzburg-27 games, 29 goals, 7 assists
Norway-31 games, 27 goals, 3 assists
Total-234 games, 223 goals, 48 assists
Absolutely. He's a generational talent.
I think people are hard on him because his numbers are compared to 24 yo Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappe who were all insane creators too. But the man's a striker, it's not his fault if he doesn't get service.
I'm sure he will have a comeback really soon, and shut the trolls out lol. Not every defence is going to be Saliba Gabriel. All of the aforementioned players had their Eibar, Elche, Lithuania etc where they stat padded.
Haaland is great but he is nowhere near prime messi/ronaldo
He can run and finish, then? What else can he do?
What you have described is nothing more than a tap in merchant who can run in behind.
You're only including individual numbers and ignoring opportunity cost. Dortmund had better offence the season before he arrived and pretty much the same the season after he departed - that's not entirely fair and it's a crude comparison, but looking at individual performance is meaningless without accounting for the aggregate team's performance - so by every metric, City are worse DOMESTICALLY since his arrival. Remember what happened when Bayern dropped Mario Gomez for Mandzukic, who scored 2/3rds the amount of individual goals? They won the treble with record points, wins, goals...
Looking at what he did with Dortmund - counter-attacking, perpetual underachievers, a young side finishing miles behind Bayern - or against minnows for Norway in qualifiers and extrapolating that to the rest of his club career, with sides like City or Madrid who want to win the title - in tougher leagues than Germany - every season and compete for every trophy, is ludicrous. He is not a good footballer outside the penalty-box, and you can't have old-fashioned goalkeepers any more, never mind a forward.
He might give a side a Plan B in the CL - though he's bafflingly poor in the air for a man of his size - but there are enormous deficiencies in his game that will present massive problems as he approaches his mid-20s. You can't be a counter-attacking passenger in the modern game.
@@thierryhenry674 call him whatever you want - but Arsenal, Barcelona, Madrid, Liverpool (perhaps even Chelsea) would kill to have this 'tap in merchant' in their team. Any team that creates chances and doesn't have the striker to finish them off currently.
Modern teams defend with 11 players. So you need 11 creative players on the pitch to break it down.
Haaland is the reason why ManCity is creating less and lower quality chances. Because of Haaland, they are one man down in the build up.
As a result, they have less quantity and quality of possession, ball progression, chance creation, and so eventually the total number of goals his team could score would be reduced.
ManCity’s tiki taka play was so much more dangerous with a skillful tekky false 9 instead. It’s like they have 16 players on the pitch. Arsenal would not be able to defend that.
So don’t tell me that Haaland did not get the service he needed. He is the reason why his team is providing less service.
First sensible comment I’ve seen that gets what’s happened. Good on you
Treble winning striker. We'll take him!
@@robertf6592
Mustafi is a World Cup winning defender.
He won a world cup. He wasn't a key player on a world cup winner. There's an obvious different between Mr Angry Face and a 50+ goals in a treble winner.
Stop livinf in the past. Haaland is here, and is here to stay, stop focusing on false 9s. Being Prem merchants and failing to deliver in the CL when it matters is not something Pep wanted. He is aware of the downsides to this, and also the upsides. Which tiki taka players delivered today, without Haaland? It was all possession play. Silva was just taking on dribbles, only to pass it back. Doku can dribble, and contribute nothing else. What did De Bruyne do? If you have problems with this because of a few matches, talk to Pep. Haaland isn't the reason he got no service, the selfishness of the players is. Mention any instance of classic tiki taka in big games without Haaland this season.
Isn't he in the top 2 leading goalscorers still?
No. Top 1
@@rakimrobinsonMCFC so why they're acting like he has 10 goals? Its just like when people cant wait to criticize you. No forward scores every single game of the season
