This song was a protest against the 1979 Iranian revolution. One of the things that was prohibited in the revolution was western music and The Clash released this in protest. I honestly don't know how much you know about The Clash but they got the nickname 'The only band that matters', not because they topped the charts but because they stuck to what they believed. They called out anything they saw as wrong and as much as this song seems like it's just for fun the meaning runs much deeper.
Kia ora hello brother from Aotearoa New Zealand. Hay these guys are my favorite band ever. my oldest son 18 years old is called Strummer Clash Palace (palace is our surname)
The bass, piano and drums was played by the drummer Topper Headon who was then kicked out of the band. On this video it is Terry Chimes on the drums. It was Hard for Topper watching another guy play his song 😢
Yeah it was sad but I bumped into Topper in Chiswick about 8 month's after he'd been sacked & he was in a bit of a mess. He was so skinny in all honesty I didn't think he was in any condition to tour for any length of time. Looking back maybe it could've been handled better but I could understand why they did what they did.
Nice song 👍Mick Jones 👍 My favorite song ever by anyone is COMPLETE CONTROL by The Clash followed by Stiff little fingers version of bunny Whalers Roots rockers radicals and reggae. Bunny Whalers version is also ❤️😍❤️
