We were there with the VA, shouting that we "serve all who serve", making sure that LGBTQ+ veterans know they have a safe space for their healthcare. I appreciated the idea that there was a purpose for us being there and that it wasn't about us.
I'd love to have a cis person introduce themselves with their pronouns. It's only really happened in gsa, so I'm looking forward to my first pride. Don't know when it'll be, just hope it's soon. So, cis folk, that could be a nice thing to do at pride.
It's actually something that I do a lot when I meet someone for the first time. First thing I do? Ask what to call them. Second? Which pronouns would you like me to use when referring to you. The order is reversed when I'm speaking in my other native tongue, which is completely gendered and thus pronouns are an even bigger deal.

I find it a bit awkward sometimes to take up space like that, so I make sure I’m side-kicking someone.
I don't see anything wrong with that. I'm a lesbian and I love seeing straight allies. One year at pride there was a woman holding a sign saying she is a straight mom and wants to give us all a hug. So people were lining up to hug this supportive mom. It was sweet.
I'm friends with a straight cisgender mom whose daughter is transgender, and the mom is so supportive of my decision to marry a woman that I plan to invite her to my wedding. When she informed me of her daughter's pronoun change, I felt proud of her for supporting her daughter's identity. If that isn't true allyship, I'm not sure what is.

My family go to the pride festival annually. It helped me work out who I was and that I could be comfortable with myself. I have fond memories of wearing rainbow outfits and parading the rainbow round the town.
Well, I don’t personally know anyone in the LGBTQ+ community, but I still want to support all of them... I’m still too young to go on parades like this I think but I still want to do something...
Thank you so much for this. The issue of Taking Up Space is an interesting one, because of Pride being about protest and visibility aswell as celebration. As an ally I want to show support to the LGBTQ+ community, be a visible supporter for other cis-het people to see, but not push my way into someone else's party. Now I'm a Mum it's even more important I'm there representing supportive parents. Can't wait to go, but nervous too. I want to get it right!
A few years ago I was at pride and a guy started taking pictures of me, which I thought was very rude because at the time I was really young. It felt like I was being objectified and I don't think the guy was even aware that it was an issue.

I'm a cishet guy and I went to the Savannah Pride parade last year. And I walked in it. I loved it. Best night of my life. If this pandemic is able to end by the time of the second one, I'll definitely be back again. And you can be damn sure the group I went with (I went with my mom, sister, and some friends to remember a gay friend of all of us who died earlier that year) will crank it up. I personally wanna play some Beatles and spread the message of peace and love (which is my mantra). I don't care who you are, who you love, or how you identify, I love you all just the same.
I have a question. Like legitimately. And I mean this with all the respect posible, because I am somewhat new to all of this. Like I have always been pro rights, but I had not been like exposed (i guess, i don’t really know how to say this) so closely to me as I am now. So a large number of my friends are LGBTQ+ and I love all of them with everything i got, and i really want to be there for them and support them and all of that. But I don’t know up to what point it is like too much. Because I know I am technically not part of the community and sometimes I feel like I am not welcomed because I am straight and like I know like pride is basically celebrating queerness and it’s kind of their place to celebrate themselves and I don’t know if celebrating being queer when you are not is disrespectful (cause that is my mayor issue, I don’t want to disrespect the community). So, when is it like too much? Or like how do I go about talking about pride stuff? Again I don’t mean to offend anyone right intrude I am just truly trying to do things right.
LGBTQIA+ pride is something that everyone can exhibit. It's why the ally flag exists. The only problem comes when you start thinking that you know the queer community better than they know themselves. That's when it gets toxic. That's why I ask for advice from my trans friends when I'm writing a character who's trans. I'm cis, I don't know what it's like to be trans, so I will never be able to fully understand what it's like.
If you educate yourself enough by listening to your friends and listening to all types of queer people online then trust me you’ll feel more comfortable
I like saying my sexuality is straight ally because I only date boys (I'm a girl) who supports equal civil rights, gender equality, and LGBT social movements, challenging homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia
There is nothing to be proud of with being straight because that sexual orientation faces no persecution - it is the status quo. You can’t invert the argument.

To make a very long story short, I discovered that I am a part of the LGBTQIA+ community (and proudly so) between 2020 and last year, and this video still proved helpful to me, even after all the research I did. For those of you who don't know, nonbinary people don't identify as neither man nor woman, but we don't deny that we were born with specific genitals nor that those genitals tend to affect our biologies in specific ways, especially after puberty. I'm not ashamed of my body at all, nor of my "past life" as a man (that's why I use they/he instead of they/them). Not every nonbinary person feels that way, though. The words "gender" and "[biological] sex" mean different things in the LGBTQIA+ community. Nonbinary is a kind of gender, not a sex nor a sexuality. I know that all of those terms are confusing, but I'm sure that eventually you'll get used to them. Just keep researching and everything will be fine 🤗

If I were going to go to pride as a straight person, I would just say I was bi if someone was really persistent/being an asshole in pressuring me as to why I was there. The acronym has expanded it LGBTQAI+. I think that pretty much covers everyone. I'm the "+"

I was Homophobe ones, no a "hater" or a "Religious" Kind, just a "Is it normal that ?" Kind, I was a 15-16, but my sister present me a gay friend and talk, he was not the "YoU hOmOpHoBe PoS" Kind but a calm and friendly kind who response of all my questions, and I change my mind by science. I'm Autistic, I have difficulty to understand the world it was my boat anchor for reality and it help me a lot about homosexuality, we find it in nature and they are important to ta care of orphans and abandoned babies for some species, or accident in bugs words who have difficulty to identified male or female. But I have difficulty with "these is more than 2 gender" because I'm with science because...except the blob who have 221 different genders (yes it's amazing), and the Trans...I thing it's not about gender be a male or a female but just personality, act like a girl don't make you a girl but what IS "acting like a girl" it's not the dress, in the past dress have no gender, look the manliest president Theodor Roosevelt wen baby, he dress girly robe but it's not for girls at all, there is robe for boys and pants for girl, genders dress is only the the noble like 2-3% of the population, gender dress is just cultural and don't make scenes, his personality ? it can be a Metro-sexual, not a girl but like make-up, I have some make up but I'm a boy. The brain ? yes male and female have different brain but in child side everyone have girl body it's puberty who change our body to male with the Hormones of our genitals, so an Adult have the brain of the gender of his genital buy it's hormones. Maybe i'm 100% wrong but it's like that I work, like I said I'm autistic my only boat anchor for reality it's science for understand and communicate in this world, but I can change my mind to talk more about that. @@dwightchaos9449 the point is that the LGBT Community wants to be tolerated and accepted which is totally understandable, but many of them don't tolerate people who don't agree with them (f.e. in practicing homosexuality) (notice that practicing homosexuality differs from just being homosexual) and it is totally normal that people disagree and don't want to agree on everything (maybe because of religious reasons). Instead you get called homophobic and racists. If someone wants to be tolerated ,he shouldn't forget to tolerate others. You can't defeat hate with hate. I agree that there is lots of hate against LGBT community but there is also hate in the LGBT community towards non supporters and the hate is growing.

I'd say it is, straight allies are always good to have around. please just be respectful to people and don't take any pictures of anyone without asking, you may accidently out someone if you do that and that can be dangerous in religious households

I was Homophobe ones, no a "hater" or a "Religious" Kind, just a "Is it normal that ?" Kind, I was a 15-16, but my sister present me a gay friend and talk, he was not the "YoU hOmOpHoBe PoS" Kind but a calm and friendly kind who response of all my questions, and I change my mind by science. I'm Autistic, I have difficulty to understand the world it was my boat anchor for reality and it help me a lot about homosexuality, we find it in nature and they are important to ta care of orphans and abandoned babies for some species, or accident in bugs words who have difficulty to identified male or female. But I have difficulty with "these is more than 2 gender" because I'm with science because...except the blob who have 221 different genders (yes it's amazing), and the Trans...I thing it's not about gender be a male or a female but just personality, act like a girl don't make you a girl but what IS "acting like a girl" it's not the dress, in the past dress have no gender, look the manliest president Theodor Roosevelt wen baby, he dress girly robe but it's not for girls at all, there is robe for boys and pants for girl, genders dress is only the the noble like 2-3% of the population, gender dress is just cultural and don't make scenes, his personality ? it can be a Metro-sexual, not a girl but like make-up, I have some make up but I'm a boy. The brain ? yes male and female have different brain but in child side everyone have girl body it's puberty who change our body to male with the Hormones of our genitals, so an Adult have the brain of the gender of his genital buy it's hormones.
Maybe i'm 100% wrong but it's like that I work, like I said I'm autistic my only boat anchor for reality it's science for understand and communicate in this world, but I can change my mind to talk more about that.

According to the DSM-5, gender dysphoria is a psychological condition in which one's self-image is a different gender than that of one's birth. The only cure for this is a social and/or physical transition.
Some people have dysphoria from either gender, and thus choose to identify as and change their features to match a different gender. Depending on who you ask, it's like double dysphoria or halfway dysphoria, or just regular dysphoria.
Identity is immutable and static; perception is not. So people can sometimes have the body they want but find that their gender identity does not match them as they are, and thus change their identity expression to a new term.
The latter case of the second paragraph, and the people in the third, are grouped as non-binary and agender people.

I use science like a anchor to understand this word, it help me to see Gays like pretty normal a casual people to me, and don't understand homophobe logic (or suppose to be some kind of logic). But I have some difficulty with Trans-poeple, not Drag Queens they are fine like a hobby they like equal to a cosplay or an comic-actor, but I don't find the science for trans who convince they are man or women, for me is only do to our reproductive organs. if you want to fight for tolerance then start with yourself, start tolerating other people who don't think like you and that's for a reason. In fact all people experience intolerance. It won't change anything if you keep looking for roots of evil . I understand you noe it's time to understand us.

@@dwightchaos9449 the point is that the LGBT Community wants to be tolerated and accepted which is totally understandable, but many of them don't tolerate people who don't agree with them (f.e. in practicing homosexuality) (notice that practicing homosexuality differs from just being homosexual) and it is totally normal that people disagree and don't want to agree on everything (maybe because of religious reasons). Instead you get called homophobic and racists. If someone wants to be tolerated ,he shouldn't forget to tolerate others. You can't defeat hate with hate. I agree that there is lots of hate against LGBT community but there is also hate in the LGBT community towards non supporters and the hate is growing.
is this not a bit of a mean way to look at this. pride is suposed to be people coming together and i supose getting everyone around to support them. so why is it that though this video you made it seem like you have no intrest in people going to pride and that even thought they can to show there suport they must do all there things. i feel like these are more un-writen rules and general rules not tips. i think that anyone willing to hold a flag and show there apreciation for the pride should be enough. its just rude to point out on such a regular amount of the time in this video that "ohhhhh its not about you so dont do this or this or this because if i havn't mentiond its not about you, btw its not about you." i mean come on man
@Don K I can hardly make sense of my poorly punctuated comment from a year ago to be honest however I completely agree with your standpoint. I think that having to over complicate how to support a community is just stupid. I personally know many gay guys that actively couldn’t care less about the lgbtq+ community because they don’t understand half of what there on about.

I myself as a member of the community had trouble in the past staying calm with straight girls who obviusly bathed in the attetion they got, talking for ages about what a great ally they are.
