Nothing like a good master-basing session... 😏 As daft as it sounds, all the greenery options look fine to me; it's the gravel that looks a bit off. You see, the gravel is both very coarse relative to the model size/scale, and it's also pretty uniform too. If you get yourself some washed sharp building sand from the local DIY place (something like £5 for a 25kg bag - AKA a lifetime's supply), and mix some of that with your current basing grit, it'll produce much more natural-looking basing texture. In turn, all the tufts/turf/flock will look much better on it too. Briefly, on tufts: if you have some that aren't too neon green, you can drybrush them a bit with some dusty browns and tans, which weathers them a bit and looks good for Spain. Finally, some yellow flower tufts might not be too bad either; a lot of Manzanilla and other scrubby plants with yellow flowers grow wild in Spain, and its not uncommon for large-ish areas to be covered in these. (Edit: spelling...)
Cheers JH. I've based with sand before and prefer gravel. Yes it's overscale but I think it looks better from three feet away, if not under the extreme closeup of UA-cam. I like the idea of flower tufts.
So... I'm guessing that you over-thought basing so much that you collapsed from the effort? 😉 J/K, I was wondering how you were getting on with these? And, unrelated, have you taken a look at Mantic's Firefight? New game looks great fun, and the Imperial Guard that you were working on a while back would be *perfect* for a GCPS force. 😊

Very nice mate. You are indeed the ace of base(s). 🙂 I’ll get my coat. 🤦♂️
Some beautiful minis and bases here, well done!
Thanks Phil.
Looking good WG. So many ways to base things they look good to me.
Cheers Palmer. I like adding flock in. It's relatively low effort to introduce another texture.
I watched to the end! 😂
Only a crazy person would watch till the end :)
They all look good to me mate
Cheers Justin!
what is the size of your bases?
