I love this music...Ginastera seems to be always taking us to remote places, enchanted landscapes and heartfelt emotions...great music...soothing and haunting.
On our Indenpendence Day, I can't but thank you for this music. Ginastera is undoubtedly our most accomplished composer and of the best of the 20th-century composers of the Americas !

The clarinetist in this version nails it! That is easily among the most terrifyingly difficult passages in all symphonic rep, bravo!
He did play some parts one octave lower though
I had the pleasure to play this piece as First Clarinet recently, with my school orchestra (I had to transpose the Solo into A Clarinet since my fingers are not good enough for the B-flat version). Have to say it was a wonderful experience that I won't forget.

So very vertically intelligent . A pleasure to hear . Need I mention that it sounds very modern Jazz in it's harmonic sense . I think more than a few modern Jazz pianists spent some time listening to this guy in the 60s etc.
Siempre me pareció una obra perfecta. Ginastera es el compositor más importante de Argentina sin dudas. Un genio.
De musica erudita sin duda, si vamos a algo mas popular es Piazzolla.

I would add to my comment (see below 7 months ago) ...OK, Ginastera is not easy to hear; his are not like the gorgeous melodies of Mozart or Chopin or Rachmaninoff BUT....his music is very rich, soothing, descriptive and melodious. I just love it.
