- My 2,112th kite video. Trying to take every opportunity to fly as we move into winter, I made another late-afternoon visit to the beach and managed to get half-a-dozen kites into the air.

The Illusion Delta looks 3D convincingly. Great artwork! The Delta Rays look happy flapping their fins!
That illusion is so convincing that I still get fooled by it myself!
The Ray kites bring back happy memories. I will fly mine again someday. Enjoying your video while I rest up.

Jim great minds think alike. Lol. I happen to fly my Illusion kite with a Gromberg pinecone tail yesterday. While your videos are great, they really don’t do this kite justice. In person the kite is an “art statement” in the sky. Thanks again for turning me on to this kite and the tail. You are the BEST! Cheers

Another great display. The 3D delta is one of my favourites. The Red skin seems is not easy to fly, a rare kite design. Thanks for sharing, Jim.
Yes, that delta is a very nice design. The red lifter (I have a black one, too) is not the most stable of kites, but it can be useful when there is only a light wind and I want to lift something.
The "3 D" kite is pretty amazing. Couple of weekends ago; We finally had one good day to fly the kites here. WSIKF was advertising for the August Fest. They put one big one up but the rest were all new small kites. Since it was close to Memorial Day; some were red, white and blue.
Yes, that kite is excellent, and the illusion still fools me even though I know that the kite is perfectly flat. The weather everywhere seems less settled these days, unfortunately.

Weifang has a list of about 20 kinds of kites- animal, delta, etc. They need one more category- “Kites recommended by Jim Nicholls” - I think that would be great! (And a piece of the pie to Jim!!)
All that commission on sales would be nice to have, and I think if all the other makers whose kites I've helped to sell paid something too I'd be a lot better off than I am!

The breeze is still chilly here in Victoria, BC...it's also been rather elusive too...
We're headed for a La Nina here as well..which usually means a cool, wet summer...😢
I hope you get some good flying weather in between the wet bits! The days are getting very short here as we head deeper into winter, but fortunately it's never too cold to get out, although finding the right wind (and preferably blue sky) is not easy.

Yes, it was a bit lonely on the beach, Dewey, and quite cold. The single skin lifter is not a parafoil, and so very easy to pack away. I don't often use it, but it's useful when the wind is light. We're not having many chances to fly as we move into the shortest days - often it's dark before a good breeze arrives!
What is the tab for the lifter that you sew on?
I just sewed a loop of tape to the centre back of the kite and clipped the tail onto that.
