OTG is where you can record the audio from the unit straight to your phone for video. So no need to audio and video separately and then sync. Good for quick content.
I picked one of these up recently, the presets are alright but now I’m dialling in my own stuff it’s really broadening the spectrum of sounds I can achieve. Gonna be great when I’ve mastered getting great tones
All these newer pedals look great, but I can't lie: I am smitten with the low price and big sound of a pedal you would not believe. Learn to program and dial your own tones on the amp sims in the Zoom G1 Four (I have the one without the expression pedal) and man can it create some killer tones for the price of a night out. The effects are amazing, you have a portable mini practice station, with 30 second looper and drum machine included. Sounds great with headphones, amp or direct. Can be powered by batteries, wall plug or even usb power bank. Amazing deal.
I have the non-advanced version of this for about a year now. The stock sounds are okay but as soon as I uploaded my favorite IRs onto the unit, it sounds just as good as anything else. My only complaint about the DNAfx is that the FX stuff is arranged in a fixed order. For example, I can't just put the EQ right in front of the signal chain to manipulate my DI sound to emulate different pickups, before I actually hit the overdrive stages and "amp". Otherwise this thing is just great.
I relaced my Fender and Gibson guitars with Harley Bentons as I find them to feel much better. Looking forward to how they do in the pedal scene. Probably my favourite guitar company these days.
I've got a Fender Mustang GTX and I'm so happy with it I don't feel I need anything else in the modeling world. Admittedly I had to spend the time doing deep dives into the editing software and tweaking the Heck out of literally everything to end up with 3 amp tones and varying effects to use with them within the amp. I've also spent the time adjusting things on the amp so that the pedalboard I already have, which cost way more than the amp, works great with it. I'm of the opinion that you can get great tones with almost all of this kind of stuff if you're willing to put in the time and work with it. For everyone else, well, there's always the Katana or Catalyst.
Solid state amps are awesome! After messing with modelers extensively for the last 5 years or so, I keep going back to my Peavey VIP 1 amp because it simply sounds better. Obviously, another thing to consider is also the speakers you're connecting the modeler to. In my case it's a decent pair of Rokit 5s. Nothing crazy but the pair of them cost more than the peavey and I still prefer the peavey in almost all cases. And now with easy to use/tweak software and USB connectivity, I honestly don't get why anyone would buy expensive modelers instead of a solid state amp unless you are touring/want tot take it on stage.
Dude! Have you ever heard of MVAVE Black Box? Thats like 3k pesos in philippines and its already a amp modeller, can upload ir, and theres already a community that profiles an actual amplifier to upload in to the unit, they called it the Fractal effects on a budget for a reason…
I used it while band practising, its the next best thing after my Clon centaur, do i have to say more? And yes, after 41 years playing my ears are good! 🎯
I got the Nux mg30 after you reviewed it, never needed any other Amp pedal or FX... although I did get a Lion recently. Not sure if it is any better than the Nux, and definitely not as versatile. This might be good to have for an emergency, thanks for reviewing!
Slow Gear is something I have not had in a modeler since my 1998 Roland GP-100! Sounds pretty good. Roland's version is the OG but this is not bad at all.
Curious what the modelling “ecosystem” is, behind this (licensed from a modelling company?). A hard thing for a manufacturer to develop independently, in-house. Reminiscent of the NUX MG-300, for instance.
Not bad at all for the cost. I cant wait till these come out with profiling, better midi control (like you can use the unit as a controller) and convolution reverbs. Will they beat Line 6 to the punch at 1/4th the price? lol
I'm pretty ignorant about modeling, but I have a friend with a lot of experience and some first generation digital recording equipment .I can't afford a ton of gear. I already have half a ton, and I expect this could easily replace it in a studio.
Hello friend, I have two decisive questions, to know if I buy this multi-effects or not. I am a professional guitarist, I rock about 3 times weekly, and it is very important for me to carry light and functional equipment, even if it seems like it is for beginners. 1- Is there the possibility of adding an extra function to a Patch? For example, pressing the button again to activate a Booster and a Delay?, or a modulation, etc. 2-. When changing patches is there a delay or silence of milliseconds? I read that apparently it has one, I wouldn't like to buy it and realize that between changing patches there is a slight delay or silence 😕😕
My experience with cheap modeller and older multi FX modelling units is that the crunch and clean stuff sounds decent enough but the high gain stuff is a bit like a bee swarm and difficult to dial in properly and never get to that chuggy/cutting tone.
I have no experience of this particular unit, but I think that as a whole the tech is moving forward at such a pace now that the really chuggy sounds are at a decent standard. I remember the bad old days of the various Zoom/Korg/Digitech multiFX pedals that had lovely time based effects but, like you rightly say, the more metal-styled distortions were like a thousand cats pissing in a biscuit tin. Glenn Fricker at Spectre Digital just released a video a day or so back where he gets one of those old pedals, uses the delays/reverbs etc from them and pairs them up with a ToneX One for the Chugga Chugga and cab IR's. Quite an interesting video, although I've been trying to get him to do a video on one of these HB pedals and see how it stacks up.
For the money it seems pretty unbeatable even taking the few minor downsides into account. As a simple pedal to with a guitar really amazing. Yes, you could do most of it for plugins for the same price probably but then you'd have to turn your computer on, I always prefer hardware for that reason even though I use plugins when recording. Great time to be a guitarist, young me would have been super jealous.
I'm gonna buy one because my old Digitech foot switches keep breaking. They are cheap and don't seem to hold up being stomped on. Besides I got about a dozen of their guitars
I just bought the core which is their cheapest version of this and want to use it for practicing on holidays and if possible do it to FoH if my amp breaks, Playing mainly high gain tight metal: what profiles/modules sounds best and any tips for good IR's?
I bought a Harley Benton Fusion 3 last year and I can tell you now I've played guitars worth £1000 that aren't anywhere near as good. This little unit here is no different, I've had an Axe FX 2 that sounded no where near as good as this out the box preset wise. That little box you got right there is worth miles more than £159, that's the beauty with Harley Benton. you get a shit ton of quality for a decent price! I just ordered one, I'm all over the lead amps. Thanks for the review.
I really wish I could take lessons from you. I am very capable skill wise but I just cannot seem to play lead. I came up on pop punk 20 years ago. I am trapped in pop punk.
I have Ampero mini It's ok , not really good There's like 4-5 ok amp simulations and 5-6 ok cab sims (but can load own IR:s ) The effects wet/ overdrive is limited because of limited chain Also , effects is hit and miss Some / few ok The others not good It's ok value but I would seriously consider alternatives like Boss IR 200 , tc electronic amp works Or save up to hotone stomp/ stage or headrush core

Kurt Rosenwinkle. Isn't he the guitarist that falls asleep and wakes 20 years later to find that all guitars are headless and traditional amps are only to be found in museums and collectors crusty collections ? 😂
“9V 300ma” is not actually enough information. Maybe you know the difference or maybe you just got lucky. A LOT of people don’t know, though. We need to know if it expects that 9V to be AC or DC. In this case, if it wanted AC, connect to a DC pedal supply probably wouldn’t kill it, but it likely wouldn’t work correctly if at all. Connecting an AC supply to a device expecting DC leads to fight to the death. Usually the pedal looses. If it wants DC, then we definitely need to know what polarity it’s supposed to be. Connecting a wrong polarity supply causes a very similar death match. Some supplies have overcurrent protection that could save the pedal, but it definitely won’t work.
I have got a sonicake matribox for a laugh. I think these all use the same kind of software. Sonicake, valeton, hotone, donner, HB. Probably same OEM just rebranded each time. A good IR I'm them and some high cuts and low cuts and it's fine.
sounds like something stolen from bluguitar amp1 but without the Nanotube technology DNAfx GiT Core it's a very very cheap copycat with a tone a tone-def person would think wonderful and nice. but being their budget would never stretch to the real deal amp1 they'd accept a nasty make do, and also bad as in very cheap components bla bla Thomas blug has a right nasty go at these bad clones of his genius amp as they can't quite get his machines amazingly amazing sound it's here on the YT his very nasty rant just put Thomas Blug you'll soon find it you might even hear Thomas play a little guitar just using his amp be prepared to be blown away he's fk awesome.
