I use the Pocket, and I prefer cinematic looks over GoPro-ish, 360-degree field view. The Insta360 really has some awesome features but I just love the Pocket 😁
I have both cameras, I think the Insta360 One X2 has more fun and the DJI Pocket has better image quality. When I shoot footage for social media, normally I pick the Insta360 ONE X2. Because it is just easier. I can just hold the selfie stick and play with my kids.
I have both of these cameras and I love using them for so many possible usecases. In a coexistence they are perfectly complementing each other! You won’t really miss a lot of state of the art features when owning both. The amount of features and video quality capabilities of both cameras is a blast! Though it’s a kind of bigger invest affording them both, I’m sure they won’t lose their value over the next years so much. Just take a look to the used prices as of today of the One X and the Pocket 1... they still achieve decent used prices
I just got a One X2 a couple weeks ago and I *LOVE* it so much. I've used it a lot for family stuff, like my kid running around, and it's SO great not having to worry where the camera is pointing. Just put it in the right position, and it captures everything. Fantastic. Plus, catching the ENTIRE scene in frame is a lot of fun. I've only just started using it with my aviation content and, again, it's fantastic. Catch the entire scene, create a sperical pano of a cockpit or access bay. Really great. I don't think I'll ever buy a non-360 action cam ever again.
It really is a game changer capturing everything around the camera - when it comes to capturing moments, 360 cameras are great for reframing after the fact but you’re sacrificing quality. For some shots, I just want to capture the moment and it doesn’t have to be a cinematic-looking shot, this one x2 is great for that! Also like the different creative shots you can make too. I own both .. I just seem to keep using the Insta360 One X2 most of the time ... it is a Fun Camera. I still can't leave the DJI Pocket 2 at home and try to use it for more standard video. If I was to purchase just one ot these cameras, I would definitely purchase the Insta360 One X2.

Great review stressing the fact that both cameras are very different and have different "use cases". The good news is that we have such a wide choice in what camera to use for any specific application. In my case a Nikon Z7, a DJI Action, a DJI Pocket 2, an Insta360 ONE X2, an Insta360 GO 2, and a Mavic 2 Pro. I use the Insta360 ONE X2 on the end of a long selfie stick when I feel the situation calls for what seems like many cameras capturing from many angles. It really seems like many people were engaged in capturing a scene, event or experience. That comes with much more post processing effort, but you often discover you captured some extraordinarily neat perspectives. The DJI Pocket 2 is more dispensable when you have the long list of cameras I indicated because it's most significant feature is it's small size. The Insta360 GO 2 is small but it's picture quality is below the DJI Pocket 2.
I dropped my DJI Pocket 2 onto asphalt few months ago... it is still working but doesn't look new anymore because I lost a very small piece of my camera somewhere on the street. The lens survived but there is a small crack very close to the lens. To be honest, I thought the design of that camera is perfect but now I think that the top part of the camera has to be made of something soft or nowadays we can buy silicone cases for DJI Pocket 2. The insta 360 oneX 2 & insta360 Go 2 have replaced ALL my GoPro action & travel cameras. The 360 is great for action stuff because you dont have to worry about framing since it records everything, so you can concentrate on your action. Plus the editing is sooo easy. Really great software. I use the small Insta360 Go for when i want to capture quick videos and action stuff. As well as my iPhone for high quality photos is all i need when i travel besides my dji drone.
Both of these cameras are fantastic travel cameras! I haven't used the Go 2 yet, but seems like you can put that in some pretty cool places, I saw one in the spoke of a bike wheel. Thanks for sharing your travel kit and how you use it!
The video I was waiting for. thank your comparison. When the pocket 2 came out I wanted to upgrade my pocket 1, but to be honest for me it wasn’t worth to upgrade. Since then I am looking into the one X2, and like you said use it as an additional camera for my pocket 1. Since it is a lot of money I am still thinking what to do. Get a new one X2 or a used one X for half the price ? Seems also,the difference between the one X and one X2 isn’t that much, only the waterproof and screen on the back. What our your thoughts ? great video. Subbed. Was curious why some 360 videos (the ones you can pan around) whether on a tripod or not look so much better in quality than others. Some folks videos are just really blotchy while other folks videos are very acceptable. This has kept me on the fence from buying it.
It really depends on how you’re filming - the one x2 does a great job at stitching the frame together, but the bottom and top where the cameras come together is a gap - but if you’re far enough away you can’t tell as much (like if you’re using the selfie stick). The Pocket 2 is way better. If you need a 360 camera buy the Qoocam 8k instead of the One X2. It has the best video quality among all 360 cameras and you can get it cheaper if you buy it second hand.

Totally agree, for vlogging - I think the DJI camera would be easier if you're filming longer term - but recording your audio separately will always be a night and day difference from onboard microphones. 360 mic for me 🗣🦻🏼👍🏼 as I have a GoPro/7 I’d be inclined to go for the 360... that would allow for more diversity for filming a broader range of situations/scenarios. Two completely different cameras ... The pocket 2 is great for capturing the moment. 360 capture is an added effect which can add interest to any content.

great comparison, I have been looking at getting the Pocket 2 but also was thinking a 360 camera would be a bit novel for my travel show. I have the gopro 7 now and a mirrorless. I do a lot of vlog and run and gun filming at events so leaning to the Pocket 2 vs upgrading to the Gopro 10 that just came out.
TQ for the content. I know now which camera I want. I want both. hahahha..... I think I am going to get pocket 2 first as my first and primary camera due to the video quality. Maybe insta360 next purchase.

The mount I was using had a rubber o ring to dampen some of the vibrations (I'm assuming) but I think the camera needed to be more centered on the drone? It seemed a little front heavy. Do you have any adapter recommendations? Thanks for watching

Best comparison I've seen of these two so far, but I'm still undecided. Maybe you can shed some light. I'm making immersive hiking and backpacking content where most often the subject is the trail I'm walking on. POV stuff. Portability is critical to my success and I've got to be able to charge and swap media on the go. Weight is a concern. Your video has me leaning toward pocket 2 for cinematic quality of imagery.

I am thinking of getting an Insta360 since I like getting fun shots or mounting a camera on my dog and have no problem editing key frames in post. I wanted to ask about the app functions for the Insta360 series, specifically for IOS devices since I do all my editing on my IPad Pro and usually on LumaFusion. How is the Insta360studio in terms of key frames. I don’t plan on using the auto track functions unless I’m specifically trying to track a specific target but I like to mount my Osmo Pocket 2 on a long selfie stick and get sweeping droneish shots which will work better with a 360 camera since I am not reliant on targeting a subject while shooting like I am currently doing with my Osmo Pocket 2. My overall plan was to shoot these shots with the Insta360, edit the specific Key Frames per shot with the 360 app and then export to LumaFusion to build my overall video. Any thoughts? Does anyone think the 360 app will not be able to set key frames the way I am intending? On the thought of Lumafusion, does anyone know if that app will edit 360 footage? I don’t think so but I thought I’d ask.
I'm a home inspector, what would you recommend for someone in my field. I plan on using an extension pole for roof inspection and general image capture during the inspection
If you want the best quality, the pocket 2 and you'll have to be very thoughtful of what you're filming. If you want to just set it and forget it, then the 360 camera will do the job, but there will be more editing and the quality on specific shots wont be as high quality as the pocket 2. The choice is up to you! What do you think would be better for you?

you forgot to mention that insta 360 is straight away waterproof, so no problem to jump in a swiming pool, or record waterfall's in asia, go to the sea somewhere. For some people it's importan't. Or when you travel film during the big Rains! or snow.

If you're looking for the highest quality camera, the Pocket 2 is probably your best bet. The 360 cameras capture everything, but the resolution isn't as high as the P2. Thanks for watching!
Why comparing two different sensors and two absolutely different cameras for different goals... I use them both underwater for specific videos.. along with 7 other cameras... In my opinion they are complementary not comparable....
Most people dont have the budget for 7+ different cameras and these are two similarly-priced cameras, so people that don't know much about both of these cameras typically are interested in both, but not sure which one they exactly need. Totally understand where youre coming from, and in the video I even mentioned using both together in some situations
@@keith-knittel but if people are searching for a camera they usually don't go for the 360. Ot shouldn't if what they need is a regular camera. The bigger sensor on DJI Pocket 2 makes all the difference and its 4k in the frame, nor like the frame of the 360. I don't know but for me makes no sense comparing a 360 camera to a planar one. But I respect your work and liked it :)
The image quality is similar if not the same, so it depends on how you are using the camera. If you are using it for Google Street View, there's no reason to upgrade. An advantage to ONE X2 is the newer mobile app has more editing features, especially for social media posts. The ONE X can use some of the features in the new app, but not all. The ONE X can also use the original ONE X app, which has the Google Street View feature. As far as I know the ONE X can use all of the features in the Insta360 Studio 2021 program, which is preferred by those who want to do post processing in third-party editors like Photoshop. Studio 2021 can export video in full 5.7K, while the mobile app can only export in 4K. One last note is because Studio 2021 can export video in superior 5.7K quality, serious Google Street View contributors are using Studio to export the video at 5.7K then uploading to Google using Dean's Zwikel's tools, not using the mobile app at all.
I have both of these, my opinion for the picture quality , osmo pocket much Sharp quality, insta Blurry. But for editing, 360 camera much more convenience. U just need 1 shoot and then u got the whole object, so u Will not Missed the moment. But for fun, the insta360, much better. If u are focusing shoot a still object, osmo Will be the a good choice.

That’s a good trade right there! I’ve seen a lot of videos with people fishing using the pocket 2. It’s a great little camera, wonder why he got rid of it - your gain though! Haha
I do t have a motorcycle, but I’ve stuck this out of a window going down the road and it was alright, but the gimbal may drift around a little while you’re moving back and forth. I’d recommend a more “fixed” camera like a go pro or Osmo action
360 cameras are a gimmick and for normal video (not 360), you are getting only 1080. Think about the difference between that. 360 is a great tool, but most of the time it's a gimmick.
The Insta 360 X2 can fail underwater with all compartments sealed. Water got into my camera through the lens housing. It was only a couple weeks old and now has a permanent fogged lens, but still runs. USELESS. Before that happened, the memory card it came with stopped being recognized. Their customer support is giving me the runaround. Buyer beware
Did you manage to balance your X2 on your Mavic Air2 ( saw that rack you were using it hang underneath.. also got an MA2 ua-cam.com/video/uplxJZhEXf4/v-deo.html and an X2 in transit and would be great to sort out which MA2 X2-mount that works and to an extent balanced.
I like the Pocket 2 audio better too, but I think the fact that the One X2 being waterproof probably has a negative effect on the mics when compared to the non-waterproof Pocket 2. Thanks for watching!

What a piece of junk, the Insta360 one X2 !! Had I known from the begining that you need to connect the camera to a phone( in my case An Apple Phone because my $1'000 dollar samsung Note 8 that accepts everything refused to connect by bluetooth to this camera. Maybe you should make consumer aware of the pitfalls of investing in junk like this and not so much what a 360 video looks like.....( as far as tools go...) its garbage and can not stand on its own.
User error. Mine connects just fine to the Note 8. Also, after you've initialized the camera, you do not need a smartphone to operate it. I capture HDR images, video, timelapse, startrails, etc. all disconnected from my phone.

No mention of virtual tours or 3d modeling with the onex2, that's a game changer as far as potential income goes

pocket 2 can have bluetooth microphone tho with a dead cat, so for vlogging it's actually very good

great comparison, I have been looking at getting the Pocket 2 but also was thinking a 360 camera would be a bit novel for my travel show. I have the gopro 7 now and a mirrorless. I do a lot of vlog and run and gun filming at events so leaning to the Pocket 2 vs upgrading to the Gopro 10 that just came out.
TQ for the content. I know now which camera I want. I want both. hahahha..... I think I am going to get pocket 2 first as my first and primary camera due to the video quality. Maybe insta360 next purchase.

Thanks for letting me know! I have no idea how this algorithm stuff works, but I think watching other videos of the same channel is better than subscribing, commenting or anything else. I think it has to do a lot with watch time and videos watched from a channel? But subscribing has to have something to do with it, right? I have both… they compliment each other well as a team.
With the drone you need to have a longer stick attached to the camera and also have the arm be able to swing slightly, you also need a rubber buffer.
The mount I was using had a rubber o ring to dampen some of the vibrations (I'm assuming) but I think the camera needed to be more centered on the drone? It seemed a little front heavy. Do you have any adapter recommendations? Thanks for watching
I like your video. How much can you record continuously? i.e 15 minutes or unlimited (depending on SD card)? If I want to get a record continous 15 min dance video is it possible with Pocket-2 ?

Best comparison I've seen of these two so far, but I'm still undecided. Maybe you can shed some light. I'm making immersive hiking and backpacking content where most often the subject is the trail I'm walking on. POV stuff. Portability is critical to my success and I've got to be able to charge and swap media on the go. Weight is a concern. Your video has me leaning toward pocket 2 for cinematic quality of imagery.

I am thinking of getting an Insta360 since I like getting fun shots or mounting a camera on my dog and have no problem editing key frames in post. I wanted to ask about the app functions for the Insta360 series, specifically for IOS devices since I do all my editing on my IPad Pro and usually on LumaFusion. How is the Insta360studio in terms of key frames. I don’t plan on using the auto track functions unless I’m specifically trying to track a specific target but I like to mount my Osmo Pocket 2 on a long selfie stick and get sweeping droneish shots which will work better with a 360 camera since I am not reliant on targeting a subject while shooting like I am currently doing with my Osmo Pocket 2. My overall plan was to shoot these shots with the Insta360, edit the specific Key Frames per shot with the 360 app and then export to LumaFusion to build my overall video. Any thoughts? Does anyone think the 360 app will not be able to set key frames the way I am intending? On the thought of Lumafusion, does anyone know if that app will edit 360 footage? I don’t think so but I thought I’d ask.
I'm a home inspector, what would you recommend for someone in my field. I plan on using an extension pole for roof inspection and general image capture during the inspection
If you want the best quality, the pocket 2 and you'll have to be very thoughtful of what you're filming. If you want to just set it and forget it, then the 360 camera will do the job, but there will be more editing and the quality on specific shots wont be as high quality as the pocket 2. The choice is up to you! What do you think would be better for you?
I thought the DJI had better sound. The 360 had more of a hollow sound. Not a deal-breaker.
I agree - the pocket 2 sounded a little better but the one x2 is waterproof so maybe that has something to do with the mic quality? Thanks for watching

you forgot to mention that insta 360 is straight away waterproof, so no problem to jump in a swiming pool, or record waterfall's in asia, go to the sea somewhere. For some people it's importan't. Or when you travel film during the big Rains! or snow.
That was the deciding factor for me, when shopping for 360 cameras.

If you're looking for the highest quality camera, the Pocket 2 is probably your best bet. The 360 cameras capture everything, but the resolution isn't as high as the P2. Thanks for watching!

Why comparing two different sensors and two absolutely different cameras for different goals...
I use them both underwater for specific videos.. along with 7 other cameras...
In my opinion they are complementary not comparable....
Most people dont have the budget for 7+ different cameras and these are two similarly-priced cameras, so people that don't know much about both of these cameras typically are interested in both, but not sure which one they exactly need. Totally understand where youre coming from, and in the video I even mentioned using both together in some situations
@@keith-knittel but if people are searching for a camera they usually don't go for the 360. Ot shouldn't if what they need is a regular camera. The bigger sensor on DJI Pocket 2 makes all the difference and its 4k in the frame, nor like the frame of the 360.
I don't know but for me makes no sense comparing a 360 camera to a planar one.

Is worth upgrading from one x to x2?
The image quality is similar if not the same, so it depends on how you are using the camera. If you are using it for Google Street View, there's no reason to upgrade.
An advantage to ONE X2 is the newer mobile app has more editing features, especially for social media posts.
The ONE X can use some of the features in the new app, but not all. The ONE X can also use the original ONE X app, which has the Google Street View feature.
As far as I know the ONE X can use all of the features in the Insta360 Studio 2021 program, which is preferred by those who want to do post processing in third-party editors like Photoshop. Studio 2021 can export video in full 5.7K, while the mobile app can only export in 4K.
One last note is because Studio 2021 can export video in superior 5.7K quality, serious Google Street View contributors are using Studio to export the video at 5.7K then uploading to Google using Dean's Zwikel's tools, not using the mobile app at all.
I have both of these, my opinion for the picture quality , osmo pocket much Sharp quality, insta Blurry.
But for editing, 360 camera much more convenience. U just need 1 shoot and then u got the whole object, so u Will not Missed the moment.
But for fun, the insta360, much better.
If u are focusing shoot a still object, osmo Will be the a good choice.
I like insta 360camera because the quality is super awesome and creativity is on another level

I do t have a motorcycle, but I’ve stuck this out of a window going down the road and it was alright, but the gimbal may drift around a little while you’re moving back and forth. I’d recommend a more “fixed” camera like a go pro or Osmo action

360 cameras are a gimmick and for normal video (not 360), you are getting only 1080. Think about the difference between that. 360 is a great tool, but most of the time it's a gimmick.
So we know which camera you will like
The Insta 360 X2 can fail underwater with all compartments sealed. Water got into my camera through the lens housing. It was only a couple weeks old and now has a permanent fogged lens, but still runs. USELESS. Before that happened, the memory card it came with stopped being recognized. Their customer support is giving me the runaround. Buyer beware
The size alone turns me off on the Insta360.
Did you manage to balance your X2 on your Mavic Air2 ( saw that rack you were using it hang underneath..
also got an MA2 ua-cam.com/video/uplxJZhEXf4/v-deo.html and an X2 in transit and would be great to sort out which MA2 X2-mount that works and to an extent balanced.
Pocket 2 sounded better IMO.

I like the Pocket 2 audio better too, but I think the fact that the One X2 being waterproof probably has a negative effect on the mics when compared to the non-waterproof Pocket 2. Thanks for watching!

What a piece of junk, the Insta360 one X2 !! Had I known from the begining that you need to connect the camera to a phone( in my case An Apple Phone because my $1'000 dollar samsung Note 8 that accepts everything refused to connect by bluetooth to this camera. Maybe you should make consumer aware of the pitfalls of investing in junk like this and not so much what a 360 video looks like.....( as far as tools go...) its garbage and can not stand on its own.
User error. Mine connects just fine to the Note 8. Also, after you've initialized the camera, you do not need a smartphone to operate it. I capture HDR images, video, timelapse, startrails, etc. all disconnected from my phone.
