It's a unique feeling of relief when these type of projects are resolved. Bummer about the bit, good to know we all have those moments, lol. Thank you for sharing, have a wonderful day!
A few things to note... 1. Generally, all snaking of pipes should be done in the downstream direction. This is to avoid pushing a clog backwards up a vent. 2. The 2-way cleanouts, while ok if not very deep like yours, can be a real pain to get the snake going the direction you want if they're down there a ways. The better way to plumb deep cleanouts on the lateral is two separate back-to-back cleanouts, each with their own riser. 3. Maybe it's different in your neck of the woods, but a lot of jurisdictions let you do this kind of work yourself, provided you're the homeowner working on your own property and get the necessary permits and inspections. 4. Dewalt has the better tools, but Menards has the better jingle! 😊 🎶
I have a friend that had another friend clean up a lot, the small bulldozer didn't have a problem caving in the abandoned septic tank. Ended up having to get repairs to the bulldozer, it was an expensive favor. Thank you for giving your insights about which equipment to use.
Great video Tim. I liked when Christy got in on a little tractor action, backfilling the new tank. If I ever get city sewers, I'll let you come over and break my tank up.
Our property in Florida had septic tanks in different parts of the yard. The original owner was a drainage contractor according to our neighbor. The extra ones i found i filled in with sand from the digging for our pool.I couldn't believe how many i found close to 6 of them.
It looks like you can mark one item off your list of preparation things to do. I did learn when putting in runs of drain tile/water lines (or other non-detectable buried items) I laid in a tracer wire in the trench. It’s a cheap way to locate them in the future. Blessings.
Shop will be nice. That turn into it with a trailer will be tough. Definitely get a remote camera for the building behind and to place on back of trailer to help. I would take my 20’ into a car wash in Brownsburg that required an angled entrance and exit. I’m the best trailer operator :) and those car wash visits were always an experience.
Good Morning!! Great entertaining and informative video!! I keep trying to convince my finance committee that I need a mini excavator. Hopefully one day I’ll have one. Keep up the good work and stay safe. Signed The Other Tim with Tractors
Hi Tim, with some of the sand just touching the top of the busted concrete, a high pressure jet of water will allow the sand to penetrate the small cavities.
It goes to show, that when you have the right equipment any job can be easy. That being said it used to be fun and informative to watch how you used to do it with Johnny only, because that's what most of us can afford. But for you now that makes no sense when you have the right stuff.
"We were going to ask you the same question" Man after my own heart! Problem breaking the old tank? Where's Dave when you need him? Given how solid the tank was, why not just fill it once the top was broken out? Now you have a lot of potential trapped air and settling around all the concrete chunks. Someone actually complained that you weren't using equipment that is too small for the job??? Glad we don't have "smellivision" for that old tank, kindsa miss the wafting off a good cheeseburger though.
I've busted allot of those 2 piece septic tanks in. Usually we used a KX080, but we've installed them with a KX121 if it was a smaller tank that wasn't deep. Yea good luck trying that with a backhoe lol😂
That looks to be an older Makita saw there is nothing wrong with that but if you are looking to upgrade, I think I would recommend going Milwaukee over DeWalt just because for working on your tractors, they make a lot nicer automotive minded Tools
Put a loaded tractor tire on that old tank and get back to me lol. Buddy of mine had a insurance claim on his f250 in the backyard... Excavator has low ground pressure because of the tracks...
The most important piece of safety equipment you need for this job is a peg for your nose 🐽😁😂😂😅enjoyed watching you guys as always keep up the good work 💪👍
The comment about using such large equipment doesn't make any sense. I think your choice of using the excavator was by far the best option. Backhoes are find if that's all you have. But having an excavator make the choice a no-brainer!
The fun you can have with your excavator. 911 what is your emergency…? Help my red power tool fell in my septic tank! Sir, this line is for emergencies only. JK 😂. Nice sound effects Christy!
I had new septic tank put in around 2017 and the contractor recommended concrete to prevent movement and general durability. 1000 gallon tank for 3 bedroom home.
Never slam the machine up and down like that you’ll screw up the hydraulics and bushings. You’re better off getting a big rock and dropping it a bunch of times.

Great informative video Tim. I’m glad Christy’s father reminded you to make provisions for the office bathroom. Enjoyable video Tim. Thanks

Thanks! I need a chance to redeem myself :-)

Nice job TTWT crew!
Tim , your in good hands, you got a working brother helping 😊
Wow this video STUNK! ;) Great video as always Tim and Christy!

I hope you and Christy had a good week! Thanks for the upload! I enjoy watching each video!
Oh my I've missed all the activity. I see a great transformation is taking place on the property. Wow!
Welcome back! Yea, take a look at the 2 videos showing the new shop plans!
Christy, im okay with the missing footage of the inside of the empty septic tank 😊. Good video on the new tank install.
You need to use the right equipment for the job you’re working on. I wish my septic replacement was as smooth as yours went. Good job.
Magnet fishing time. 😊
I tried off camera! Eventually gave up!
The GOAt of the tractor business .. need more.... Thanks for the contrn
Tim you got a great channel keep them coming HI Christie.

I suspect the rain through the winter will help that sand to find the crevices.

I don’t mind trying to use the small stuff where possible. In this case, it simply wasn’t possible.

Go ahead Tim, try to drive across that brand new tank! lol
@@robbridges7810 nnnnooooo!!!!!!
Nice work! The only thing I would have done differently is remove the old septic tank entirely and then backfill. But that’s just because I’m OCD.
Smell vision would have been awesome on this one! The story of the processed cheeseburger?!?!
I see Ryan is a “Traveling Man”
Tim, I have seen videos where they pick up a boulder or concrete scrap in the excavator and drop it to break up burried tanks, pools etc

Make me laugh so much I was crying great sense of humour and great video thank you God bless 🇺🇲🇬🇧
Be glad you're not doing that in Michigan you got to have a raised septic field
Well looks like it’s a good start to your new building I’m glad technology does not allow for smell threw video I’m sure it was not very pleasant 😂
Great job Tim, paid nearly 6 grand to have that done 7 years ago.
Cristy thank you for not showing the inside of the septic tank even if the "camera didn't record". lol I don't blame ya ! 😁

Tim, Ryan is a good man and I have never met him ....
@@paulciampa i try to be,thanks
@@HankinsExcavating you are a fellow traveling man
@@paulciampaalways searching for more light. Thanks again Brother
My excavator is half the size of yours and yes you have an excellent size one and this could cost me a lot some say.
Usually if the tank tops are 6" thick they are HD for driving over. Standard tanks are 4"...
This one looked like a 4”
As a wisconite, I hope it is a Culver's burger 😂

Foam ear plugs work well
I wish before snow storm both of you could have put gazebo into pond
Yea. We’ll get to it sometime. Rex still doesn’t have the floor all on it. Wants it to be above 50 degrees for this work.
Lil masking or duct tape would help keep socket on temporarily. Hindsight 20/20 😊. Mine never stay on either.
Or use a drill…like Ryan did!
👍👍
magnets for sunken tools!
I tried! Fished for several minutes off camera.

equipment is valuable cant do it with out it
I would be more concerned about the tank "shifting" from weight and damaging the inlet/outlet lines.
I had new septic tank put in around 2017 and the contractor recommended concrete to prevent movement and general durability. 1000 gallon tank for 3 bedroom home.
If you dig, use an excavator. A backhoe is an expensive and limited functionality...
Limited, but for 1-series, I still think it is worth it.
2 way a great idea, BUT, just think if you used a composting toilet you wouldn't have to do all that work & spend that $$$ .............LOL
🇨🇦👍
Too bad you can't get a quality camera person who can work on-off buttons. :)
Uhoh! I’d better not let her see this comment!
