I feel your pain on those white PTO roofs. I would wipe out at least 2 times a winter, when i was living in Buffalo. Even penguin walking you can slip. The metal roofs were the worst though.
put a couple zip ties around the junk clip to hold the tabs on and the klixon around clip/pipe also. if something happens to defrost or they leave the doors open and it freezes, it will still shred itself off. 😬
I slipped and fell like that on a stupid place that had a sloped roof combo with a flat section. I was sitting down for too long replacing a POS blower motor in a 5 ton Tempstar gas package unit, and both my feet were asleep. The fall didn't hurt at all, but because of the weird geometry of the 2 sections of sloped roof forming a little 3 sided valley, I twisted my ankle pretty bad. Took a month before that stopped hurting... Be careful on those horrible roofs. Trying to get down a ladder with a hurt ankle is no fun at all...
I haven't had good luck with the Russell defrost termination stats either. I replaced both on a big 4 fan coil last summer with new OEM ones (fan delay and defrost term), went back a month later and it was starting to grow the ice monster opposite end of the coil along the top. So had to set the defrost timer to about 40 minutes, and remove "X" from the timer. The default location up at the top there was just cutting off the defrost too early. As far as leaving the fan delay off, I have another restaurant with a freezer about this same size, ended up only leaving the high limit in place, and bypassing everything else. So there's no fan delay, no defrost termination. Two years later, there's still hardly any frost drips on the ceiling, and the coil hasn't iced up ever either. That one was a 2 fan Trenton coil. I like Trenton equipment, but there's no United Refrigeration close by me (that's who sells Trenton in my area AFAIK). So leaving the fans with no delay might work ok at that place, it just depends on the freezer 'climate' and how much they leave or prop the door open etc... YMMV. But I have quite a few like that. Although I prefer to just wire the fans directly to H4 etc with new spade terminals, wire nuts tend to fill up with water long term. Short term is fine like that though. Sometimes on a Saturday when the supply houses aren't open, you gotta do what you can to get them back up and running so they can have a freezer until Monday... :)
Ive skated on those roofs, absolutely hate them. One time a company tried to get me to rope up a compressor on those latex roofs, after it had rained….naw i had a crane come out, homie aint playin the rope the compressor on a ledge with wet roof latex game lol
That's part of the reason why if at all possible, I tend to stick with gum soles. I never know what I'm going to end up walking into. Yes, they'll melt more easily under heat, but they tend to stick better to just about anything, and frankly, if I hit solvent that'll melt the shoes, I'm charging the customer for a pair anyway.
@@mitchell8204 - Latex rubber. As in natural rubber, rather than synthetics. A lot of Vans shoes have them. You can mostly tell them by the 'caramel' (tan) brown colour of the sole, which often goes as a band around the base of the shoe. There are pros and cons to them, of course, but for my use case, they're much better than most of the current shoe bottoms. Especially that fuzzy almost-paper fake sole material they use now, which makes me think I can slide across most floors.
Stay safe out there! Slip/trip hazards are the worst! I wonder if a pair of Dunlop Volleys (roofer's choice in Australia) would've helped with the grip.
It was slick where I was walking, I have the best Red Wing boots they make, not sure any shoe would stick to a thin layer of ice at the angle that was. I should have looked closer.
Hope you are doing ok. I have detected a bit of frustration in your last videos. Almost like your spring is wound a little tighter than normal. Maybe just the winter blues. Take care.
I appreciate the concern👍👍. It hurts but I'm doing fine, luckily nothing broke that I know of 🤔. Nope, that's just me, it's my typical sarcasm, but it did hurt and I was mad, so I didn't spend time hiding it as I normally would.
Those white roofs suck!!! Next time your looking for a breaker for the EVAP on a freezer, just shut the cond unit off. Power for the EVAP will come from the condensing unit .
just a bit of a hit for the people that like the Wago connector's. check your codes i know for a fact that in my area they are now not allowed yes i am in the states . insurance inspector are now failing house's for them. to many cheep knockoffs.
Which state specifically? The are UL listed so the AHJ can't really complain and most likely any insurance can't uphold qualms against stuff being up to code.
@@irfp460 the cheep china ones are the problem. i know the house that was just re-modeled and the insurance inspector ask for proof that they were not from china or not pass. the state is PA
@@hartsfire5706 The UL marks proves that they comply, even if they were made in China. You don't need to provide more information, that's his responsibility to prove that they are fake. If you are nice you can provide the UL Cert number, but it should not be necessary.
That is way too complicated Imo. But that's maybe because I'm use to working on a different type of setup. Unit and coil are not connected in any way here. Unit works purely on a LP/HP switch. Coil is controlled by a digital controller outside the frezzer. And the we run evap and room sensors. 1x5 Cabel to the coil. 1 wire for fans 1 wire for solenoid 1 wire for defrost 1 common 1 ground. A small boks in the coil to split the wires up. Then i can stand outside the frezzer and check my controller, and only go in to the frezzer if that checks out. Unit and coil are not on the same fuserelay. Don't use termination switches for defrost. Use Evap sensor, and if that fails defrost will end by time. Same thing with fans they are controlled by evap sensor and time. All that running up and down, back and forward makes no sense in my world. In this sernario you have, no need for me to go up on the roof, other then to check the comp for ice. But i have been on old systems, that setup like the one you are working on, and thanks because then I know exactly what to do😘😍
I have no problem with wire nuts whatsoever! I am on the fence with about those lever action splicers, actually, in the high amperage use. Especially in the freezers. Just flip the pointy end up and “skirt” down, and do not tape it in this application. Or get those blue ones!
I watched the video where they did a load test on it and they ran it up to 30 amps or more on a Wago that was rated for 20A and it did better than what a wire nut did.

Hyper extended my knee on one of those roof in the winter... Made it back across the roof and down the ladder....spent Christmas on crutches that year
Always my worst fear on a roof, slip and land on the tool bag, get gouged or break a hip.
Great Video. Great Job. Thank you for sharing
Hope you are ok Rick. Brings new meaning to HVACR 'Survival'.
😁 I'll live. That's what I was thinking when I choose the name.
Please upload a video of you making a cake with your Kinpex Pliers!
I felt that fall. Been there done that.
You never get in a hurry.
I've done one to many splits walking on slimy, mossy and wet roofs!!!! Sucks!!!! Glad you survived that one....
Thank you!
Thank you for recognizing us @11:55 #WAGO

I recognize that drive thru. Worked on the FBD machine down in the gas station

Ouch! That happens too much on the white roofs. At least you had a camera. How fast the fall is , amazing in a bad way.
It was unexpected, it happened in an instant.

Two reasons you highlighted in this video had made me leave the private work. Saturdays and falling on roofs.
Public HVAC? What for schools?
Nice job Rick. Hope you are OK.
God how many times have I fallen on those damn rooms

So have I now that I'm home. But it still hurts, it left a mark on the side of the knee

Those falls are the worst🥴 least it was a white roof and not a metal one
I've fallen too many times because of lightly frosted white membrane roofs. They should put some aggregate into the membrane for grip

Good job Rick, Hope your alright after taking a spill?
I feel it still but I'm ok. Thanks man!
Try some spikeless Michelin ice cleats.
Can't, it's a rubber roof, if I had known it had some invisible ice I would have walked slower and at the top of the peak.
Man i feel you pain. I hope you're OK and not one of jobs where it doesn't start hurting untiln2 days later.
