I've tested their teachings, so far, against my own beliefs and have found nothing that disturbs my spirit. The minor issues I had with the show were cleared up by Dallas in a video post. This show has stirred up within me a renewed hunger and love for God and His Word and in my opinion, anything that causes that, is blessed by God.

What Dallas and The Chosen crew have done with this show and how many people they, the show has reached, has inspired to pick up their bible, go to church, communicate with God directly, to honor Jesus Christ!!! So much the show itself has achieved, accomplished. It is amazing, spectacular, beautiful, wonderful, awe inspiring. Sweet they want to aim to get it right and review that. It would seem to me The Lord would be pleased and proud.

You are so right, Christina. You said it better than I could of but your words say exactly like I feel. If we in in the Body of Christ would stop finding fault with what other Christians are doing we would be a better witness as a follower of Christ instead of a 'complainer or fault-finder' of Christ. What Dallas and writers did was take Poetic License in the most profound and beautiful way. Its more than obvious to many viewers especially those who earnestly seek God _(especially in this hour and Especially eagerly anticipate the Return of our King along with his Government/Kingdom here on Earth as promised: The true "Great Reset")._ The wise way in which, for example how Dallas/writers were able to build upon Nicodemus; his back story thus introduce to the viewers the way in which, the Sanhedrin operated during that specific "day". They gave Nicodemus and the story "life". It came alive.

I am 75 years young and live by myself in central New York State. I have walked all through my life with Jesus. I have been a fan of this show from the very first episode of Season 1. When Jesus came to the bar to save and cleanse Mary Magdalene. When he touched Mary’s hand saying, “That’s not for you.” Tears came to my eyes. I thought, that’s my Jesus, He would go to the pit of hades to rescue one of His children
When she left and He followed her out and called “Mary, Mary Magdalene.” tears were rolling down my face. my eyes. How many years had she not heard anyone call her by her name. But when Jesus, quoted to her from Isaiah 43:1-2, the verses she kept with her to comfort her when ever she was afraid I really started crying. How He cleansed her of the demons then put His hands on her arms..I am sitting there saying out loud, hug her, take her in your arms…..when he did, that was it. I lost it and was crying hysterical like a child.. I looked up and said, finally Daddy God, the Jesus I know. That was it, I was a fan from that moment.
I have watched Seasons 1 & 2 over and over.
The actors you have chosen are phenomenal. Jonathan is the perfect one to play Jesus. You can see the love, compassion, anger, sadness, etc. in His eyes, his facial expressions.
Everyone in the show is the same way. You can see how everyone is caught up in his or her roll. The writing is so great. What an amazing evangelical way to show people all over the world the Love of God.
I love your round tables. If you are still doing them you should show more of them. Get to see the opinions from the 4 different religions. Season 1 Episode 4 is one of my favorites. But I love them all. Can’t begin to tell you how they have comforted me when I feel discouraged and alone.
Keep centered (I bet your wife is a great help with that). May God Bless you ALL.

This was a good chat to watch, firstly because the panel didn't all agree. It's great to see you're not surrounding yourself with 'Yes men'. Then there's the miracles in John's Gospel according to which, Jesus only did seven miracles compared to ten in Matthew, ten in Mark and twenty three in Luke. Plus the times when each of these three say "Jesus healed many people". John specifies that the ones he recorded are signs. There were many miracles, but seven signs. The message John is trying to convey is different.

Dallas, overall I think you're doing a great job in depicting certain things that always get missed in other productions. Example: You show the Messiah wearing Tsitzit, the reverence for the Shabbat etc. Most Christians have no idea what these things are and the fact you have included them says a lot in your effort to effect quality in your production. Perfection is unattainable in any reproduction of what happened. Those who search or require Perfection in production to align with their theological ideals miss the whole point. I'm just happy to see the effort and appreciate the show for what it is. You have produced a high quality program that gives us the audience something to watch other than the filth and nonsense typically found in other programs. Perhaps it will inspire many to open their bibles and search out for themselves the truth.

I had A thought that before God can come down to meet us on our level, and truly be effective the way he wants to be, is that we first have to become humble in heart before he will come down and meet us on our level. Think of it, how can we possibly experience the greatness of God in the form of Jesus, unless we first become humbled of heart ourselves. I believe that's why it says in the Bible, If today you hear his voice, harden not your heart. Oh what A splendid adventure we are on, for those of us who say yes to our Lord.

The sacrament of the CANA wedding feast was the setting for the first miracle urged by His Mother. It was his filial obedience without literal direction. Jesus hears our prayers and does His Will. As a Catholic, this miracle has meaning in both the love of Jesus and the direction to his Mother as our shortest way to his Sacred Heart. Justice. Beauty. Love.

There is absolutely no doubt that the Living Spirit of Elohim & His son our true King, Christ Jesus is flowing through the creators, producers and actors of this utterly mind blowing & soul stirring series. To ask the question "Did the Chosen get Jesus first miracle wrong?" is splitting hairs and Only causes division & thus completely missing the point of Christ's vital life sustaining teachings. In the end it's Christ, Him sacrificed (for our sins) & Him resurrected on the 3rd day. Paul teaches this higher law or statue brilliantly along with _(Nut shell version):_
All things done w/i the Kingdom of God *In Faith* is considered righteousness to Him. Christians come in all shapes and sizes; many varieties, strengths and weaknesses as well as levels of maturity and understanding. I am confident w/o a shadow of doubt that this series was birthed from the Spirit. These individuals are vessels of glory to our King. This series was given to those w/i the body at the perfect time for there is no such thing as a coincidence with God -- Esp when you Seek Him with your whole heart, mind & soul. He promises to be "found by you".
_He still hears and responds to the prayers of His people._
What Dallas and writers did was take Poetic License in the most profound and beautiful way. Again its more than obvious to many viewers especially those who earnestly seek God _(especially in this hour and Especially eagerly anticipate the Return of our King along with his Government/Kingdom here on Earth as promised: The true "Great Reset")._ The wise way in which, for example how Dallas/writers were able to build upon Nicodemus; his back story thus introduce to the viewers the way in which, the Sanhedrin operated during that specific "day". They gave Nicodemus and the story "life". It came alive.
Even those Christians who do read the Word of God often are at times missing vital aspects of various areas of understanding ... for example in the area of perhaps history regarding and every day lives of the Jews; how "the law" effected them. This show brilliantly demonstrates excellence in weaving many of these aspects into the story of redemption; The greatest Love Story in all of creation & known history for it is founded on a promise not yet achieved in totality. It is this Promise that inspires our hearts as our world falls into greater darkness daily. For every desire, hope in dream are sealed w/i the Spirit for those who walk with God. For w/i His Kingdom (on Earth) those dreams & desires Can Indeed be fulfilled

I think the redemptive story captures the Love of Gods whole point of going against the Law of legalistic bondage. I love The Chosen, but I think the first miracle is water in to wine. John 2:4 “It is not yet my time” doesn’t make sense if Jesus has already performed a miracle. The whole public vs private miracle seems more like justification for an argument that doesn’t hold water (or wine?) Clearly this is a small point, and the main thing to focus on is telling the story of who Jesus is which is why I love and support efforts like The Chosen!!

Yes, but that's where the pagans worshiped in many places. The great civilizations of Egypt, Greece, and Rome built temples, but also worshiped outside in nature, because they worshiped a pantheon. Jews were distinctly different. They offered sacrifice only at the Temple in Jerusalem, and they observed the Law in the domicile, within the family, with the father as the head, giving thanks and making petitions on behalf of his family. They marveled at the works of God, but kept nature very distinct from the worship of God alone.

Of course, THE CHOSEN is "wrong" because there's a lot of speculation that can't be 100% right. But that doesn't detract from the art, the basic theology, and the evangelism. In fact, I have some distinct issues with Jesus being portrayed as being physically exhausted, or needing to "practice" his sermon. But it COULD be an aspect of his humanity that we were not shown in the gospels. And it makes Jesus very approachable, which is what HE went out of his way to be.

I feel the same way. I feel like the water was turned to wine as the servants carried it obediently as instructed (scriptures says they drew out water) and also feel the same with the multiplied bread, that Jesus blessed it and it multiplied as the disciples passed it out (you feed them). But that by no means lessens my enjoyment of the show! I love it and support it. I know I couldn't do better,if I wrote the script. The Chosen team is doing a great job and are changing lives. I wonder if there are things they regret? I would have liked to see John baptize Jesus. I wonder if they'll do flashbacks to things they "missed".

I'm curious to know your problems with Jesus being tired? Throughout Scripture we read he is tired, frustrated, exhausted, weary, angry, surprised, amazed, thirsty, etc. He is fully God AND fully man, and his humanity makes me worship him more!

    • @cpnscarlet
      @cpnscarlet 2 роки тому

@@danielplayer7350 I'm not sure I'm recalling everything you mentioned, but I can look that up. For me, the sight of God's perfect Son being exhausted by all the healing he did feels like his divinity is diminished. And seeing Him practice his sermon reminds me too often of me doing the same type of thing because I don't have a perfect mind. But these are my issues to resolve alone. It doesn't take away from the beauty of the art and effort.

@@cpnscarlet I very much appreciate your concern for His divinity. It's obviously critical! However, I think it's powerful to understand that He was fully submitted to His Father, and therefore took on fully human form. He literally was fed and nurtured by a young Jewish girl. He wept over the death of His friend Lazarus. Here are a few Scriptures to help in the study: When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. Matthew 8:10.
Jacob's well was there; so Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, was sitting beside the well. It was about the sixth hour. John 4:6.
“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. (Speaking about His return)
      Matthew 24:36 ESV
On the following day, when they came from Bethany, he was hungry.
      Mark 11:12 ESV
. There are many more, but the point is, the Scriptures are clear to show not only His deity, but also His humanity! The scene you speak of was, to me, the most powerful of the entire show thus far I was floored by being reminded of Jesus' humanity, and I wept for a good long while, on my knees in reverence. I'm grateful for the discussion!

The wedding as so important, Jesus is the groomsman we are his bride. What better way to explain that than to be at a wedding. That miracle is for everyone, the catch of fish is more personal for his disciples would understand who he IS. The word doesn’t reveal everything Jesus did nor does it seemingly answer every question we have why? Because we’re supposed to follow by faith.

In the gospel of John Peter is actually at the wedding. John wrote that turning water to wine was his first SIGN. I sometimes read that there might be a difference between signs and wonders/miracles. So maybe the fishes were a miracle but the wine was the first sign... In my opinion you made a good decision to choose this order.

The Cathedrals, on the other hand, were built to turn people's attention and devotion to God, to illustrate how great and magnificent He is, how small we are.

I thought the wedding scene was amazing. It brought to life what I think the purpose of the miracle was. Jesus's first public miracle at the wedding explained God's plan of redemption. Moses and the law are represented by the first wine that ran out. It was good, but not enough. God saved the best for last. The new wine from the water represented the blood of Jesus that would be shed as a sacrifice for the cleansing of our sins. The old covenant of the law was satisfied in Jesus's sacrifice and the New covenant of grace had begun.

If 'The Chosen' was a baseball player it'd probably be Babe Ruth. It points at the centerfield wall then blasts a 400 footer right over it. I don't think anyone in the dugout was questioning whether Babe played bad ball that day. But this video discussion is enlightening. Father Guffey's response about big Catholic churches was divine! I have a sense of what Dallas was talking about too though. Next to his inner picture of God, these things feel contrived, almost as if they're trying too hard. But to add a bit to Guffey's answer, the grandeur of some of these buildings also means that people cared enough to build them in the first place. If they're art, for instance if they're the best surviving examples of let's say High Gothic architecture in the world, in general if they're the best example of what people in that time were capable of building, then they're somewhat analogous to the show, right? Except there are a lot of architects. There's only one Dallas.

I hadn’t even thought about that, but it’s correct biblically. But was that Jesus’s first public miracle, or his first miracle period? I remember when I was in Bible college (which was just about 50 years ago now) that my synoptic gospels teacher told us about a document - I think it was the Q, but that could be wrong - that talked about Jesus as a child resurrecting a dead bird (again, could be a faulty memory, so don’t quote me). Now obviously that alleged miracle is outside of cannon, but it makes sense that his mother was well aware he was able to do supernatural things or she never would have asked him to help their friends at the wedding.
