Just saw them Monday at Lincoln Hall in Chicago....amazing!!! This video totally captures their "live energy". Also, the band's taste in fashion is just as cool as their music and Katie probably has the nicest smile of any human being I've seen in person.
deafegg sorry, but they sound nothing like their record. I'm now glad that I missed them. I would've had to drive nearly 2 hours each way to see them (which I almost did). Katie & Daniele sound great, But GL sounds like shit and who is this bassist?
i flippin' love the guitar in their live sets. im going to see them in december. taylor/bassist is full time Flasher now which is one of my favorite bands. Flasher is amazing live.
she drums just like Lelah of tacocat. i love female drummers. female musicians for that matter. im going to see priests in december. cant wait..i love the guitar in live sessions. i think it sounds better live.
the bass tone is not nearly aggressive enough for their sound and occupies a completely different sonic space as the guitar, this makes the guitar sit naked by itself and he is playing in front of the drums and a little out of tune so it sounds off, the drummer and vocalist give solid performances here but the guitar and bass comes across as clunky and tired. good band. not great performance.
@@christopher2327 that is all true and spot on, also that pressuredroptv show is just one of those that just totally nails it across the board, pure magic @warrogue1 I somehow just heard about this band and that pressure drop show was my first exposure, holy shit what an impression.
I looked this band up to see if I should go see them locally but I'm just not feeling this. If the guitarist and the singer are going to be dissonant I feel like there should be a hell of a lot more gain to give it more of the punk persona. They are all very talented I just don't necessarily like the final output.
I know what the problem is, and I noticed this in their other videos too. You can’t hear the bass. The guitar isn’t actually that bad, but it needs bass to back it up. It stands too strong by itself.
Poor baby- growling's not good for the voice singing JJ. But what an eclectic group- their punk music illustrates all that's absurd, like semi- controlled vomit or farting. Love it!!!
Nah, those riffs are perfect just the way they are. Love that style of "mellow noise rock" with lots of weird bends and lazy hits, it's so rare and sounds so cool.
Raul Duke You should really stop thinking that music has some sort of uniform structure to adhere to, it really just equates to cynicism and snobbery...basically just being shitty in general. It's art obviously, it can be whatever it want, doesn't even matter if people don't like it. But people do like it, so yeah, they got that going on as well.
You are so stereotypical. Stop pointing your cane at those kids playing on your lawn and yelling at them. It seems like every generation rips on the next about their music because it's "so different." The Greatest Generation didn't like Baby Boomers music. Baby Boomers didn't like Generation X music. However, I'm Gen X and I like lots of Millennial music and Centennial music, so I guess I'm different, but it seems you're not. Obviously, I don't know what your generation is, but, regardless, stop being so closed-minded and like music for what it is. Music changes and evolves. Learn to live with it. Besides, it sounds like they're playing in time to me, so you must be deaf. Besides, if you listen to the interview, you'd hear that Ian MacKaye likes them and actually goes to their concerts to watch them, so that gives them a shitload of respectability. That makes your opinion even more irrelevant. Have a nice day.
A quick list of contemporary post-punk bands that are better than Priests in every way: Savages, Protomartyr, Preoccupations, Parquet Courts, Eagulls, Holograms, iceage, Ought, Girl Band, IDLES, Women, Tyvek, Show Me the Body, White Lung, Beach Fossils, Marching Church, DIAT, HMLTD...please listen to these bands instead
"Better in every way" Do you realize there is no "better" in music? I personally love the groups you listed, but it's all opinion. To say one is inherently better than the other is pointless.

FUCK YES! They've released the best album of the year so far and I'm seeing them live later this month
Albin Lundholm you gotta be kidding me. This is middle school level horrible
Raul Duke Did you go to middle school with The Beatles or something
Albin Lundholm no, Somersault by Beach Fossils or This old dog by Mac DeMarco would fit that category
Haven't heard Beach Fossils
Albin Lundholm listen to them they’re really good especially their early albums
Im so in love with Katie Alice Greer it hurts
Great gig!!! As always...
I'm in love with the drummer
check out emma baker of flasher. i could not stop watching her play drums. she is also a DC musician. plays with taylor who played bass for this band.
no i am ok? back off
And the lead singer...minus their armpit hair
They sound just like on the record. Sad I missed them!

Soo good!!
Sneaks!!! I didn't know how much affiliation they have with her so dope!
Usually I really like the KEXP sessions, but I prefer Priests' appearance on PressureDroptv to this one. Not sure why. Something sounds a little off.

some can't get past their scarce use of sweet melodies. They're badass
these are actually amazeballs live
Troy always hooking up the relevant GPK cards like Nardwuar
J'adore.
That first song remind me so much of Killing Joke in the best of ways. Not sure I like this band really, but that first song is tight.
Alright, that second song is giving me black flag flashbacks, I'm into this band now.
Remembered me the power and soul of Mia Zapata with a bit of sound from The Gun Club, the real punk girl band around.
Great band
🖤
yes

OMG REYNA TROPICAL ON BASS
Where's Taylor? :(
Flasher
Well, I'm a fan of this...
missing the old bassist gibson tone
playing guitar and singing for flasher.
Do these guys sound like Pylon to you?
Yes!!!
She looks like Xuxa
She also kind of looks like Hayley Williams of Paramore
Best band around
Where I know that bassist?
savila

often it needs you to wear headphones to hear
China please :)
Just doesn't work, for me.
Nods to Patti and Kim.
Poor baby- growling's not good for the voice singing JJ. But what an eclectic group- their punk music illustrates all that's absurd, like semi- controlled vomit or farting. Love it!!!
Guitarist needs to invest in a tuner.
amk98002 dissonant, detune tones... pretty interesting! They rock!

I'm sure plenty of people told Jimmy Page the same thing.
(not comparing this guy to Page by any means, but same idea still)
yeah! punk rock!! 🖕🖕
Bad
Guess millennials don’t give a shit about playing in time. Kexp you’ve done it again.

nothing wrong with the sound, lol. punk rock!! 🖕🖕
Absolutely awful, but for some reason, I feel better about it starting at 7:35.
Not awful but I do like that moment....hey drumming is hot stuff!!!
#disappointed
