So, the battery on my E60 M5, started to give me clear signs of being on its last legs... therefore, and before it let me down, I decided that was time to get it replaced... I decided however, that would probably benefit from a more powerful battery...
In this video, I will take you through the installation and programming, of the new and higher ratted battery into the car systems...
This procedure, is very similar to other BMW and other cars out there...
Just as curiosity, or if you are interested, the new battery installed, it is a Bosch S5 920A(EN) 110Ah.

Thanks for video, I haven't been lucky with Bosch batteries on my E60, had few electrical issues which disappeared after changing to another type.

Great I have a discovery that I don’t use a lot it had a new battery about 2 years ago at a cost of £230 I think I my put it on charge this weekend👍 don’t want to pay £230 again ✌️great video ✌️

You only need to trickle charge the battery for a week or two and it should recover (unless you have a dead cell). My E65 which only gets used about once or twice per week will start to shut down after about a year at about 12.1 volts. About once per year I connect the charger for about 3 days at 13.55 volts (I use a power supply for charging) until the current drops below about 40ma. A battery at 11.7 volts may take a few weeks to recover. My E65 battery is now 14 years old and holds its charge perfectly and passes the electronic tester tests.
I have lots of other cars that only get driven once a month or so. As a rule of thumb, I need to charge the cars with AGM batteries (I always upgrade to AGM unless the battery is in the engine compartment) about once every 10 months and cars with lead-acid batteries every 5 months.I just do it whenever the voltage gets down to 12 volts (before starting).
The modern BMWs deplete the battery quite badly when they shut down. This is a disaster for any starting battery, so they are going to suffer from low voltage sooner than other cars.
Personally, I think going for a normal battery in a modern BMW is a mistake unless you are using the car every day or most days of the week. However, coding the car for a non-AGM type battery will effectively disable or tone down that silly charge management system that allows the battery to run down in certain circumstances in the guise of saving fuel.

If battery replacement is like like for like, for capacity and chemistry , registration only ,is needed. If not then registration plus addition of the different battery to the VO as well.

Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you would not mind helping me with a problem? I own a 05 Grand Scenic 1.6 16V K4M,
When I load and run can-clip or scanmaster and check rpm (NOT running,)
it always registers between 180rpm and 280rpm. when started (running) it reads as it should,
wondering what conditions could make the ECU do that?
I take it that is where the scanner gets this info?
NO fault codes.

Oh yes... you can do that... but that is definitely not how the system was designed to work and to optimise the battery...
And the battery might not last as long as it should, specially if changing the capacity rate....

Hi , working on 2021 renault clio fault while driving everything cutting out for 2 seconds engine , power steering and no dash lights , speedo rev counter etc only does it in the morning after a few minutes of driving , no codes could the bms on the battery cause this and would it be okay to disconnect this or bypass it to try it ?
You can definitely try to bypass it, even if just for testing...

what if you're replacing with 110Ah AGM? do you need to retrofit a standard 110Ah SLA first then do the conversion on battery replacement menu?

Actually you did it twice - registering battery. You could do it only by hot functions. In history you already had info about replacement.

Good day mate. Great video. I have bmw e60 525i. the battery which it is 90ah 720a. I bought it about almost 4 years. I have the same issue as yours which the time and date reset warning pop up and also do have high battery discharge warning. I did change the ibs sensor cable. The recent issue is the airbag and seat belt light "restraint system default" pops up. I checked with scan tools and message came out battery terminal. Okay, the question is can i change the battery from 90ah 720a to 105ah 950 agm battery? Do i need to do coding? By the way, i have sound system in the car with 3 amp and 2 12" subs. I would advise coding...
Make sure you have no parasitic drain on the car... otherwise the new and more powerful battery will most likely not solve the problem...

Is not that simple... some ecus, you can't even do it... immo off is not possible, or only with an emulator...
I would suggest you read about it, to get a better idea on how immo off works..

Mistake. You fitted a simple aftermarket Bosch battery but you registered it as an original battery.
The IBS will be fooled.
I never registered it as an original...
For that I would need the battery code...
I registered it as a new battery... that's all...

How many people have a £ 1000 tester like this AUTEL? This is not useful. Instead what is useful and helpful is to show people how it can be done with free tools like INPA, ISTA+, NCS Expert etc.
I have videos showing how to do/use some of those... admittedly not on this particular task...
While this it is not helpful for you, it might be for others... just bear that in mind...

@@LMAutoRepairs I do, but you have to admit only a tiny fraction of end users have such expensive equipment.
It is fairly easy to do with NCS Expert and NCS Dummy. Both readily available for free download.
Just coded and registered a 90Ah AGM battery to my E64 instead of the standard 110Ah. Following a 8min video a kind person had posted.
