What makes this game so hard is the weird jumping physics. You move slow in mid air while jumping so you have to be super close to the nearest above platform
Yeah, reminds me of Mario Bros physics. You can't change your direction in mid-air. Still gets me because my mind likes to autopilot that it's SMB physics and I do something that I could avoid in SMB, but die in Ice Climber or Mario Bros.
Oh my, this game was my entire childhood. I remember my sister playing it when I was like 3 or 4 and watching her play it was the best thing ever. The background music, the guy and the bird in the end.. nostalgia

Honestly I think Nintendo should make a reboot of the series, there's potential to make a really fun game in there somewhere, they could make a Ice Climber game in a 3D perspective, I want to see how they could do with a new installment, but Nintendo probably won't do that because this game came out almost 33 years ago. But a guy can dream.
I'm really impressed that you can do this on a real console, without dying. I myself have played in when I pass every mountain, but then I did on every mountain several times.
The world would be such a better place if Nintendo made an NES app to download on your phone with all your favorite NES games. That would be an app I would be happy to pay for.

Vertical platforming is a mostly untouched genre when it comes to the world of consoles, and no one ever plays things like Doodle Jump anyway. I even pleaded to ol' Sakurai one winter morning for him to direct another title in time for Christmas, but he said he was at work making some downloadable thingamajoos. I had no idea what the hell he was talking about, but I feel like he really did listen to me back there! After all, that's what he said about Kid Icarus and his goddess girlfriend. Me gustaba mucho este juego. Era por momentos frustrante, sobre todo los niveles de bonus. Me sentía la mejor jugadora del mundo cuando lograba atrapar a ese pterodáctilo. También me gustaba el hecho de que los items de los bonus eran verduras.

Does anybody remember that love bird game? There were two birds (one on each side of the screen) and you controlled one of them and the other would copy wat ever you do. You had to make them meet up the top to bring them back together. Please someone....helppppp lol xx

Even if you worked together it was almost impossible to make it far in two player mode. You just had to outrun the other guy eventually to progress unless you both had equal skills and timing. =/

I've never seen this game with the Topi seals (Japanese version) only the Yeti ones (US version) - interesting. Sometimes in the earlier mountains I would purposely wait for the polar bear to hit him like what you did at 12:31 just to watch him go off the screen looking funny. Good job in resetting the score at 31:36, to end up with 1.7 million plus points and still going. Great game play!
I never got to play this on the NES, but I've played it through NES Remix on the Wii U and I gotta say that landing glitch is so annoying. And the bird on the top just has it's own life, turns around just before I grab it or I just miss. Well anyways it seems that it can be a lot of fun with enough practice :D
