It's perfectly normal to be able to recognise an artists talent and dislike the genre they have chosen to express it. I see it as a sign of an intelligent and thoughtful person.
It takes time to really get into metal, idealy from a early age on and among elderlies there aren't many who have gone through this. They consider melody+harmony as a key element of a songs beauty, but metal sometimes doesn't comply to this and uses it to express in greater diversity. A similar concept could be found in Jazz.
I was 13 when I heard slipknot for the first time. It was during wrestling practice. Kid put a CD in the stereo and blasted it. I was hooked immediately, much to the dismay of my parents. Should have seen my moms reaction when I handed her the CD to buy. That was 24 years ago. The hardest thing my parents listened to was Credence Clear Water Revival. No metal stations on the radio.
Much more fun than the Kid's React. Those kids just pissed me off. At least I start off with a respect for the old folks, plus they're(mostly) able to verbalize their opinions intelligently. Keep these reactions to reactions coming! Lots of fun!
To be fair, the kids reacting to System of a down actually was pretty good coz there were 2 kids who actually enjoyed the screaming and intense songs, also they showed to them their melodic tame songs as well
They should have shown them Aerials and Toxicity. I guarantee the reaction would have been different. They’re my favorite band of all time, the reason I started making music and I still wouldn’t show those two songs to anyone on a first listen lol. Phenomenal songs but extremely chaotic.
I feel like the React people picked these particular songs knowing most elders wouldn't like it. I think if they picked more of System's softer stuff like Spiders, Aerials and Hypnotize then at least half of the elders would've changed their mind
I'll be 51 tomorrow. Still listen to them. Jinger, infected rain, spritbox, slipknot, mushroomhead and much more. 1st concert was iron maiden, world slavery tour '84 at 12yrs old.
All I remember feeling after watching that reaction video back when it came out was... 'Why did they not put Aerials in there for them to listen to'?'.
I have the perfect triple header for you, Alex! - Teens react to Linkin Park - Linkin Park reacts to Teens react to Linkin Park - Teens react to Linkin Park reacts to Teens react to Linkin Park
I definitely recommend doing more Elders React videos (particularly the Bring Me The Horizon one). But also they have 2 different versions of it... this version and one where they react to the lyrics first before hearing the songs and it's interesting to see how that impacts their reactions.
You are so ever right. These people need to read the lyrics for someone like System Of A Down. And you mentioned Two Rockin Grannies. Love them ladies.
SOAD is my favourite band of all time, and their songs never gets boring, but those elders don’t even understand their stuff, and deep meaning of their songs.
you made so many good points, in my opinion, about why metal is misunderstood. metal is very much an art. the chaos often reflects the lyrical subject matter. The composition adds context to create a a piece of artwork that is whole. and people who say "it's just noise" are like the people who go to fine art galleries and say "I could paint that, it isn't special." they aren't making the connection with the artistic part of creating music.
When I'm in a bad mood and I'm not doing so well... I watch a video of you and the day is already saved 🤗 thank you very much 🥳🎸🥁🎤🍻 ... ... greetings from Germany 😁✌🏻
You should try Tribal People react to SOAD among other bands. It's super interesting seeing how other cultures react to music well outside of their wheelhouse and they have a really admiral respect for most of it.
LMAO !!! I'm 64 & 1st loved System ofa Down Years Ago!!.....I'm an Old Rocker/Punk/Goth....Kids turned me on to System ( & MORE!!) they grew up with my music...LONG LIST !! But as Toddlers Their Fav Music was Offspring ,Green Day,Ramones & The CLASH...They Loved it & in High school turned me on to My Chemical Romance,Slipnot, & WAY more....Last BEST ( & had a LOL over the 2 Rockin' Grannies" comment) couple of years ago My Son turned me on to Falling In Reverse...Blew my mind then & they still do !!
You need to check out Superstitious Fantasy or Beautiful by Windwaker. They’re an absolutely amazing band, unfortunately Will King (the lead singer) left after their first studio album but they’re still doing music with a new lead singer who used to be in the bands early days. Definitely worth checking out!!
Y’know, I’ve been curious about you reacting to certain video game music. Not sure if you ever have, but some video game OST’s are some of the most unsung masterpieces out there
Been a casual fan since I was about 10 or 11 back when they first came out. I say casual meaning I don't listen religiously, but I love a couple of their albums and have listened to them a lot. Wish they'd tour.
Alex I'm 66, I'm into jinjer, arch enemy, Amon Amarth, corpsgrinder, AvataR. Also parasite Inc, Ramage Inc, sepultura, Nile, the list goes on, the god is Dimebag, keep on death, grind, core 👏👏👏👏👏
“It can be given to you in a more beautiful tone” I mean yeah Zombie by The Cranberries proves that but at the same time a lot of the issues SOAD talks about are inherently uncomfortable to talk about so it makes sense that the music itself makes you uncomfortable. Also, the reason they need to talk about these issues is because everyone just wants to ignore them and pretend they don’t exist so in order to make people listen the music has to be bombastic and in your face
The guy who showed me SOAD was in ROTC in 9th grade. He was next to me in the Science class. He's successful with a house, wife, and kid. I'm here at midnight watching reactions.
Hahaha 😀....that reminds me of my mom screaming up the stairs as I was learning to play guitar to Metallica... I'm sure these ol timers remember their parents disapproval with the crazy stunts of swing and rock n roll
People vent/rant about the social issues they see as broken and want to fix and are angry about... legitimate feels. Pick: mosh or riot. That energy needs to go somewhere.
This is crazy. Shortly before he died in 2017, I sent my dad (whose musical taste considered of Johnny cash, Waylon Jennings, Hank jr, Merle haggard and George Jones) who had never heard SOAD a live performance of Prison Song and he thought it was amazing.
Homegirl that liked SOAD used to be a rockabilly chick, 100% no doubt in my mind. Shes got the cut still, shes got the motivation and shes got her mind open to new things. Or as they used to say in her haydays "that girl´s one cool cat"
i was SO annoyed when i watched this omg i mean, i'm not a native English speaker and i was impressed by all the SOAD lyrics even when i was a teen and these elders don't pay any attention to a word they say
I saw this elders reacts episode the other day and it was so frustrating to me in the same way. I found the seeming close mindedness, so blatantly and boldly, of many of them mind-blowing and angering. The bright spot was the woman with the long hair and headband, the black woman, and the Hispanic (?) man in plaid.
I have tried several times to download it right now my dog is sick she's been to the vets several times she's on medication for worms she has had since August but she has a quack vet who only cares about money not dogs or cats
It makes me think of how every looked at Rage Against the Machine.... so many people didn't catch the messages of their songs. Or it was just noise. But it was an out cry. 🤷♀️
"System of a Down always makes music about relevant things, issues that are going on in today's day and age, they make Important Music." SOAD: BANANA BANANA BANANA TERRACOTTA PIE!
"there's no melody" he said as soon as the melodic breakdown literally started
Watching Elders and little kids do ANYTHING is annoying.
He should react to KIDS REACTING TO SOAD, there's 2 kids who actually enjoyed the screaming
@@christopherbingham5092 it's the not thinking that's annoying.
I try to look at things from the perspective of the elders. I think they go easy on our music, honestly
Well actually watching them fall over is pretty funny
Watch your mouth youngin 😂😂😂😂😂
Its amazing to see Alex evolve from a normal reactor to a metal/rock fan defending SOAD
IKR
It's perfectly normal to be able to recognise an artists talent and dislike the genre they have chosen to express it.
I see it as a sign of an intelligent and thoughtful person.
yeah i don't like queen. heard them for 30 years now, not a fan. it's a good band, they're talented, i just hate their music.

And Question… Fantastic somg
I feel like the React people picked these particular songs knowing most elders wouldn't like it. I think if they picked more of System's softer stuff like Spiders, Aerials and Hypnotize then at least half of the elders would've changed their mind
Wrong. It's the community that gives them the ideas.
"A lot of times System of a Down has free concerts, so you're good Norman" 😂🤣😂🤣 That cracked me up
I have the perfect triple header for you, Alex!
- Teens react to Linkin Park
- Linkin Park reacts to Teens react to Linkin Park
- Teens react to Linkin Park reacts to Teens react to Linkin Park
Love it, Alex!!💥❤️
Ps. I loved the one grandma that was hip to metal or thrash! She was so cool! That'll be me at 75!❤️🔥
I definitely recommend doing more Elders React videos (particularly the Bring Me The Horizon one).
They just wanna hear some melodies lmfao, give them some effing ballads.
2:06 "there's no melody"
says the man listening to a very melodic part of the song.
SOAD is my favourite band of all time, and their songs never gets boring, but those elders don’t even understand their stuff, and deep meaning of their songs.

This man said “old timers” 😂 lmao “we roasting vegetables” 😂 funny asl bro
When I'm in a bad mood and I'm not doing so well... I watch a video of you and the day is already saved 🤗 thank you very much 🥳🎸🥁🎤🍻 ... ... greetings from Germany 😁✌🏻
I really like your reactions to the kids and now these elder reactions to metal 😂❤️
You should try Tribal People react to SOAD among other bands. It's super interesting seeing how other cultures react to music well outside of their wheelhouse and they have a really admiral respect for most of it.
Those three being from India are naturally nicer than most considering most Indians are nice.
Alex!! My name is also Alex. Do more of these. Love your content brother.
Alex I want to see you react to more of the React Channel stuff. I've watched quite a few of their videos myself.
LMAO !!! I'm 64 & 1st loved System ofa Down Years Ago!!.....I'm an Old Rocker/Punk/Goth....Kids turned me on to System ( & MORE!!) they grew up with my music...LONG LIST !! I remember watching your reactions to SOAD. It’s always great seeing people discover the amazing music of System.

LMFAO @ the title, pot calling the kettle black
Would be fun see you react and discovet more of Iron Maiden Alex,
I’m 52 and I love System of a Down……funny part is not one of my kids are into metal like me….lol
I’m 57 and love hard rock and metal. My kids not so much. I’ll be banging my head forever.🤘🏻
Alex I'm 66, I'm into jinjer, arch enemy, Amon Amarth, corpsgrinder, AvataR. Also parasite Inc, Ramage Inc, sepultura, Nile, the list goes on, the god is Dimebag, keep on death, grind, core 👏👏👏👏👏

"System Of A Down always make music about relevant things"
meanwhile, Chic N' Stu exists
There is a live video of Aerials where Daron sais "ones again, this song is about nothing" and I think he couldnt describe it better
@Christopher Bingham ah yeah, I was just jocking ahha
when he said that I just though "pizza pizza pie"
Chic n stu
Vicinity of obscenity
Tcmmfliots
They have a bunch of "nonsense" weird funny songs
@Christopher Bingham still a funny weird song
Heck yeah, shout out to 2 Rockin Grannies! I miss their reactions. Hope they're doing well.
"She looks like a bird" 🤣 I bust laughing at that one
I'm already getting that way and I'm only gonna be 41 in June but it's like that with every generations music.

"it's not like i enjoy attacking people... ehhh" completely changed his mind got me dyeing
"What are you gonna do? Go eat an overpriced salad and talk about bon jovi?" I died! 😂
You should watch the video where they react to Rammstein 🤣
The nudity in the video was just about to give half of them heart attacks.
I'm 49 and love all music!!!!! 🤪🤪🤪🔥🔥🔥
Fun reaction! But but but but....how's that YOUR wife? Just kidding! Love your channel🤘
Please react to elders reacting to Korn!!! There's a lady that enjoys it a lot

Lol I'm 54 and love SOAD ! I've been a metal head since 1985
More TOOL!!! Descending or The Patient please!
Alex is goated. The one grandma who likes metal and thrash is awesome.❤🤘
The guy who showed me SOAD was in ROTC in 9th grade. He was next to me in the Science class. He's successful with a house, wife, and kid. I'm here at midnight watching reactions.
Why is nobody talking about how this video is just so glitched with the audio sync??
Hey Alex, how about doing one of the Elders reacting to Queen
“There’s no melody” as one of the most iconic melodies in metal is playing. The irony
your frustration dude.. its all over your face... hahahaaha... well, i get it.. lol
Hahaha 😀....that reminds me of my mom screaming up the stairs as I was learning to play guitar to Metallica...
I'm sure these ol timers remember their parents disapproval with the crazy stunts of swing and rock n roll
Please Alex, can you react to more of Greta van Fleet? They made new album which is great, especially song called Heat Above. ❤
People vent/rant about the social issues they see as broken and want to fix and are angry about... legitimate feels.
Pick: mosh or riot. That energy needs to go somewhere.
... also the Woman looks like a Bird XD I lost it
This is crazy. Shortly before he died in 2017, I sent my dad (whose musical taste considered of Johnny cash, Waylon Jennings, Hank jr, Merle haggard and George Jones) who had never heard SOAD a live performance of Prison Song and he thought it was amazing.
React to Chaoseum songs, Smile Again and My Wonderland
HI REN
I was just thinking recently about this video and how you never reacted to it
Rivers of Nihil - Where owls know my name
PLEASE BRING BACK THE SYSTEM OF A DOWN REACTIONS
One of my Top 5 Favourite Bands of All-Time, but most of my contemporaries (Gen-X) don't really get these guys. This should be interesting.
Please please please check out Ren with either "Hi Ren" or "The Tale of Jenny & Screetch (full)" they're amazing and I think they'd blow your mind.
Old Lady: "All these images are so depressing!"
Me : "So is your fucking shirt."
Homegirl that liked SOAD used to be a rockabilly chick, 100% no doubt in my mind. Shes got the cut still, shes got the motivation and shes got her mind open to new things. Or as they used to say in her haydays "that girl´s one cool cat"
i was SO annoyed when i watched this omg
i mean, i'm not a native English speaker and i was impressed by all the SOAD lyrics even when i was a teen and these elders don't pay any attention to a word they say
The woman that says there is no melody has no musical intelligence.
SOAD was an aqquired taste for me. I didn't like all of it at first, but the more I listened the more I loved it. They're incredible!
“Your mom” is such a great Serj song lately in the past 6 years. Alls there songs and lyrics are epic.
"respect your elders, but respectfully fuck you" im fucking dead😂😂
I saw this elders reacts episode the other day and it was so frustrating to me in the same way. I found the seeming close mindedness, so blatantly and boldly, of many of them mind-blowing and angering. The bright spot was the woman with the long hair and headband, the black woman, and the Hispanic (?) man in plaid.
I've commented this a lot over the last couple years. I'd really appreciate a reaction for Silent Planet - Panic Room. It is a very deep message
Can you imagine if "Sugar" or "BYOB" was a country tune?
The audio is bugged from 1:36 to the end of the video. It's not synced with the video.
Ah yes. Now time to check out the one when they reacted to slipknot
I have tried several times to download it right now my dog is sick she's been to the vets several times she's on medication for worms she has had since August but she has a quack vet who only cares about money not dogs or cats
Alex you should check out stuck by villain of the story 🤘🔥🔥
I know you dnt know me but u should do a video on Villian Of The Story - Karma.
The genre itself is considered “political metal” five finger death punch, rise against, and rage against the machine are also political metal bands
Alex I don't have telegram and I can't download it phone is to old to download it
React To Refused "New Noise"!!!
You remember rock n roll Alex, the type of music u used to react to before ur heavy metal rabbit hole ur still down.
It makes me think of how every looked at Rage Against the Machine.... so many people didn't catch the messages of their songs. Or it was just noise. But it was an out cry. 🤷♀️
Im First!
Luv ur reactions Alex!
Cool dude
System of a Down is Chaos with Intension.
Rick Ruben has a good story about the crowd reaction the first time he saw system of a down
"Avant-Garde Protest Metal" Is the only way I could begin to categorize SOAD
I hope to see the white turtleneck in your thumbnails for a long time
"System of a Down always makes music about relevant things, issues that are going on in today's day and age, they make Important Music."
SOAD: BANANA BANANA BANANA TERRACOTTA PIE!
The thumbnail made me think of fast and furious squad
