I agree with Tester. The “unwinding” is much more complex than a sound bite or a tag line for a proposal.

Speaking as an (R) , I still like Tester. He seems to be the only (D) that attempts to be bipartisan and who hasn't gone stark raving mad/drunk/stupid. He also did a stunning job of questioning Muilenberg back in oct-2019.

Why does it have to be all or nothing? We can't turn off the spigot but we can turn it down to a trickle, letting other forms of lower emission power generation take it's place. Perhaps Senator Tester, being smart enough to know that man-made climate change has been and is a problem, could have led the way and helped set the standard for making the change to a Greener way of farming. And if not then, maybe now would be a good time to do that.
It's 2021 FFS! We should all have micro-fusion powerplants generating all our commercial and consumer power needs for our homes out by the landing pad for our flying cars. Instead we have COVID and face masks and Texas frozen in it's tracks. Maybe not stone knives and bearskins but still.

My heart goes out for everyone in this situation. Rather than subsidizing rich oil companies for keep gas prices low let’s funnel that money to regular Americans who need to adapt to a new green economy. They need out help. All the financial support as always goes to the top and not to average Americans who need help adapting to these necessary changes. Forgivable grants for electric equipment, free retraining, free job placement in the new technologies for citizens of all ages.

My hopefully pragmatic criticism of Keystone is that its primary purpose is to funnel energy from Canada to Louisiana to then be sold to other countries. I don't see how this achieves American energy independence

A major step forward would be carbon pricing to pay for research.

Nonsense! "The power to tax is the power to destroy." The fossil fuel industry should be taxed out of existance and the money used to repair the damage they are causing and to assist consumer to switch to clean energy and transportation. For our children and their children!

Well done on presenting both sides of the argument in a calm and objective manner. It’s a welcome change from the usual partisan drivel this show serves up. Amazing what you can accomplish when you’re not preoccupied with orange man bad.

The only time we hear from Jon. Is an election year. If he spread his media message over his 6 year term I would be prone to believe him. But when it’s just the year ahead of the election his message gets lost with all the other political garbage. He has been a senator long enough. Time for new direction and ideas. Out with the old and in with the new.
