Big thank you for this video! I've been driving for over ten years now and got pulled over on Christmas eve for my trailer tail lights not working. After wiggling the pig tail electrical cord to no avail I figured the cord was bad and picked up a new one at the truck stop up the road which cost $80.oo and the new cord didn't fix the problem! I clicked on this video in search of what to do and thank goodness! The video showed how to check the fuse for the trailer and sure enough it was a blown 20amp causing the problem which I fixed for only $2.99! Wish I had watched the video first! We need more videos like this! Many thanks! I'll be heading home for Christmas now!
Thanks man I know when I first started a lot of older drivers are hesitant to show a younger driver anything because they think we should already know it. Even till this day anytime I'm looking at my truck at a truck stop it's always the younger drivers who are asking if I need help or anything like that.
Excellent presentation!!! Very helpful. This channel is a must for new truckers. They showed the fusses but didn't teach how to replace them... They showed the electric connection but didn't show to widen the prongs to get contact.... Go one by one ...you will see the incomplete Ed. A trucker receives. Your channel is a light in the darkness.
A few of those chassy trailers I had to use zip ties around the pigtail & chassy plug to create a good connection. I have ran across the pigtail ground comming out and having to place it back & tighten it down. Great info Moses! Thanks for sharing 👍
Also make sure the contacts are clean, just spray some wd 40 in the plug, get a brush and clean it, will make a big difference in the operation of the trailer lights, from dim or not working to working 100%. Just had that issue. After cleaning, all started working.
I know my lights started flickering off then on last night while up in Buffalo, New York, given I haven driven through alot of snow/ice & road salt.. when I go home I usually drop my trailer so my power cord is exposed because the housing where the power cord goes broke. So I imagined that salt got into my plug.... all I did was try to blow any debris out of the plug & I put fresh 5th wheel geese in the plug. It worked like a charm & it stayed working
Great tips. I use a pocket knife to spread the prongs. I purchased a plug in light tester from the truck supply. It was about $50 but when the wheels ain't turnin I ain't earnin.
I also carry zip ties and also a little round brush to clear female acceptor plug some time just gunk or dirt in there..also they sell extenders for the posts on the male side
Thanks mined turned out to be a fuse in cab "international truck 2019 i just pushed every button Lol and looked back and lights were on. Thanks Bro i subbed. 8:46
That happened to me today, police stop me that my tail light 💡 was not working, and when I shake the power cord, it’s start work, but a few miles later again stop work and my check light come on also, So it was stop working every few miles. Then I tied the cord to the Trailer and start work.
Hello my clearance lights working and tail lights not. Signal works....Trailer lights works for a while then it might go out then come on . This happens maybe 30min to a hr sometimed
Left signal won't flash at all in trailer when my flashers are on left. Won't work my left signal won't work. Tryed new relays fuses are not burnt I tryed also new electric cord still no luck
Thank you Driver success! You just saved me lol. I feel like a dumbass! One side was not plugged in because I hit a u-turn too hard in the yard and everything came apart 😂
For the F8 fuse (that is bigger and different than the standard fuse), should I just take it out and put it back in the reset it (the same used one back in)?
@@driversuccess thanks I'll give it a try for sure next time I experience this issue. I do drop and hook and maybe 1/10 trailers has the same passenger blinker is out (by all passenger running lights are fine). And when the yard jockey tries their tractor it works fine. I ended up replacing my electric line twice and it works fine and the issue comes up randomly on trailers. Just don't want a ticket... Any suggestions pls?
@@wordTwoWise the only advise I would have given you is to get another electrical code but you have already tried that so I don’t know what the issue is.
I am a roadside tech and this is a great video. but most new drivers are lazy and would rather have the company they work for foot the bill of $200 or more for a loose pigtail or fuse rather than fix it them self.

Also, keep the sockets clean in the truck section and trailer section, too much dirt builds up. I use electrican cleaner or brake pad cleaner.
Thank you! It was really very helpful. This is probably one of the best video I ever seen.
Very wise teachings from the master himself.i appreciate

You gained a new subscriber. You seem wise and the way you explain things is very comprehensive!
Nice job!
Sir where can i locate the source power of the 7way,,,my trailer does not light up anymore,,,omly reverse light
thanks 😘
My trailer brake lights are staying on is that the same process that I should take in this video?
That sounds like a different problem. It mat still be with the plugin and pins but may require a mechanic looking into it
thank you sir.

What should I check if the brakes lights don’t illuminate?
Maybe your fuse
Great vid
Thank you Jose
I just use a seal
Can you tell me please the fuses code of top back 3 clearance lights
What exactly do you mean? I don’t get the question....fuses code?
it will be a 30 amp fuse left side
What about the relays?
Saymore Mccalman I’ve never had to change a relay so I’m not sure when you really need to change them
Anyone can help me to replace the nosebox trailer
Wiggle it.....just a little bit......
