Good era this one. As much as I loved Claremont being usually a strong club/side from 81 till 96, the bad run that East Perth, West Perth and Perth had over the same era was bad for the WAFL. It's a damn shame East Perth moved from Perth oval, and there is part of me to this day that still can't believe East Perth are in Leederville oval. Sacrelige!
Love Perth oval and the atmosphere was incredible and special. Out of all the grounds the glory wanted they wanted Perth oval 😞 sad to that they cut down Charlie’s tree and actually mulched it up apparently accidentally…. It was on the official contract that if East Perth agree to the move the stand would become heritage listed and the most known tree in Western Australia , Charlie chandler’s tree would be left and not touched. 💰💰💰💰 . They say Charlie’s tree wasn’t a barometer and lost it’s famous streak of getting the grand finals correct! Because Charlies tree didn’t bloom in 2000, 20001 and 2002 when the royals won, but why would he we were aligned with west coast and had deserted Charlie’s tree by moving to Leederville oval, so the myth was more real than ever to most East Perth fans. Then they after they mulched Charlie’s tree up, it’s said Charlie chandler has cursed east Perth who have lost every Grand Final since .
Back in the day when primary school kids were runners, haha....Actually I'm impressed how athletic and not far off the skill level they were compared to 45 years later....
