Communications over wire to reduce remote proliferation. Easier to integrate into any house control schemes. Also making things open source and open documentation so if company goes belly up, not taking one's investment with it.
This seems to be the same video that was posted 2 months ago. Not sure if the price got even better or this is an accidental re upload. Not mad or anything, just confused. Great projects though I've learned a lot from these vids.
Hey thanks for commenting! It is the exact same video. When I uploaded it a few months ago they sold out of all inventory in less than 24 hours. They finally got a bunch back in stock so I uploaded the video again in case anyone missed out that wanted some. Sorry for the confusion but thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Do you have a video on how to daily control these? Or is there a HomeKit or button/switch option for using WLED? Thank you SO much for your videos and time you take to do all of this!!
I went to my local electrician store. They had NDR brand. It’s what licensed contractors / electricians put under the cabinets. I was able to pick up strips, driver, dimmer switch, and connectors made from the same vendor. And they were nice enough to help me with layout and how to run the wires. Use what the pros use is always a good thing.
But are these better than WS2815 ? My first ever fully addressable project and I just purchased 6 of those today but just saw this updated video. So I don't know which to go with. I have 2 outdoor staircases to do this week. I just purchased 6 of these as well as I will use whichever is the best option for accent lighting and holiday lights under steps and garden walls at each location. Waiting for a more informative answer in which strip to stay with!
@@ChrisMaherDIY Maybe I should stick with the WS2815 and set it up exactly as your other video then. I just hope I’m not making the wrong decision and I end up not having a mostly spotless experience using the v shaped spotless channels from Muzata
Yeah, I've been noticing a lot of different distributers of this type of strip (3 group/480 total per 5m) popping up all over the place.. Of course, if you were really going to do what you did in the video, were it not just for demonstration purposes, then daisy chaining them wouldn't make sense, would it? You could power them both from the source.
Great video Chris! keep up the great work. I bought these Muzata lights and spliced them together to custom lengths for my desktop but now have different colors along the full length. The remote only works on the first 2 feet and the rest just stays on a solid white. Do I have to install an ESP32+ WLED to control the entire length? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Chris, good work. I'm getting ready to purchase. Going to have a lot of 45 and 90 degree angles and am unable to determine if the respective connectors need to be 8mm or 10mm. Thanks.
Thanks Chris! I ordered 6 of these for a pretty big project coming up. What would you recommend for powering 6 of these strips, with no major drop in full brightness white? These will be the main light source in a room 16ftx32ft. I can do multiple power injection points if necessary.
Hey buddy! I would probably start with one 12v 10a power supply and do power injection every 20 or 25 feet and see how that looks! Sounds like a fun project!!
So I purchased these lights and I'm wondering which controller could I use with these? I'm considering esp32, but I can't find one that would react to sound and that would be pretty cool to have. Ercisity ones are said to crash due to not being able to perform. I need a controller that would power 5 meter strips. Any suggestions?
Hey Chris! Loving the video, thanks so much for posting. I have a couple of questions for you since the first LED project I'm working on is completely based on your videos, How can I combine two of your videos into one? The videos are the WS2815 + ESP32 one, and the sound reactive one? So the question in short is how I can build a sound reactive LED setup using WS2815 and ESP32? The second question is which diffusers in AliExpress do you find best? Reason why I have to stick to AliExpress is because the shipping from US to where I am when purchasing from Amazon US is on the expensive side of things so I tend to stick to AliExpress and already have the BTF 12V 30A power supply and their WS2815 5m LED strip. Would be so grateful if you get back to me!
I am new here, and looking to do an outdoor project for my house. it looks like I will need to figure out power. do you address this in other videos? (long runs and power options)
follow up. i got three strips of these lights installed in the kitchen and it is magical. got a lot more installs planned as well. these lights are light years better than Hue lights. lolol....see what i did there? thanks again Chris! Your videos are awesome!
Hello Chris, I have purchased these strips. However, in WLED I cannot seem to find the correct settings in the LED preferences to get the colors to correspond correctly. Can you please list the settings?
Hello Chris, so I bought everything you had here, same LEDs , same power supply , I got 6 esp32 . I was able to get the wled installed and save the WiFi and setting but for some reason the LEDs would NOT turn on. Every time I turn it on and off I see a little blue light come on on the esp32 . Any idea what I can do differently. I followed everything you did and as you mentioned here.i made sure I have it configured and Tried different esp32 and diferente LEDs..still LEDs won’t turn on.
I'm a stupid person. Is it possible to get these rolling with Homekit // Matter? I'm trying to keep my whole home setup simple because my wife's not that techy.
This is interesting, but when it comes to lighting, I still lean towards Nanoleaf products for their unbeatable quality. They just have a way of nailing that premium feel.
amazon does weird stuff with links. if a product is out of stock, or if youre in a different countr,y it send you to something similar thats in stock. in this case its redirecting to a silicone led diffuer channel not the led strips. @@mattwilson9293

It's great to see led strips becoming more affordable over time! It opens up more options and allows creativity for atypical projects

@@brodriguez11000 Nice thought. Especially the open source part. I do disagree, though, that wired networks are not intercepted.

Yea, assuming it was a mistake. Got these lights tho from last video recommendations and no issues with them.
Just checked and the price has gone up $6 in the last 2 months from 29.99 to 35.99

Thank u for making video on this topic because choosing correct led is very difficult

Well explained, what’s the case if I were to do a 20 meter led run
Thanks for the heads up, Chris. 🙏🏻

These appear to be TM1903 / WS2811 12V 3535 strips. Definitely look like a nice solution. Just ordered some at $15/5M - thanks for the video!
you just saved me half the price, thanks!
Do you have a link?
Do you think these would be spotless in the corner diffuser channels you used in your “50ft with no power injection” video?
Chris - would you still say that the SK6812 by BTF-Lighting is still your “go-to” LED strip?

I prefer the ws2815 individually adressable 12v strips
Chris, what’s the best 12v option in 2024 for RGBW strips that work with WLED?
How long can you go with before data loss. Im looking to do 35 feet of 1(Connected) Strip

Can't go wrong with ws2815 LEDs. I think you would be happy with either option.

There are sets of IC LEDs - like from Daybetter for example. Could I convert them to Wled in this same way?
What is the music in the final thoughts chapter?
Hi @ChrisMaherDIY can you cut and solder these strips? like in the example from your other video?
I watched your other videos, why would I pick Govee over these? is it just personal preference?
Love your videos! Is there a way to connect the ESP32 to Matter? and to HomeKit? I would love to have them voice activated - thanks!

Thanks Chris, I might pick some of these up just to have on hand at that price point.
Is this a single strip or multiple 16 foot plugged together "?

the FW1903 led driver seems to be a cheaper version of the WS2812 led driver
Do these leds work with ericsity controller from one of your latest video?
Can you use 22 gauge wires ? cant get 18 gauge in Australia at a good price
Do you leave 2 power plugs plugged in ?

would 5 amp fix the full white issue for both strips? I use the whites a lots and I don't want to buy to power supplys

Does anyone know whether you can control WLED projects with a Stream Deck or not?
Yes, there is even a 3rd party plugin already on the plugin "store"

Thanks for the video. Unfortunately, the shown strip is not available in Europe/Germany. Will stick to BTF for the time being...
Btf is the way to go

My best led strip is a adressable CCT with a CCT controller who does animation 😅. And this doesn't exist
So looks like your using 2 power plugs to use the led lights
nice
