    temper the springs in a toaster oven and it will be just as strong as the original spring. It's a good idea it just needs to be expanded on as you have proven that steel cable wire is suitable material for springs.

    Try putting the drill in the vice instead. You could also try a foot switch to turn the power on to the drill with something holding the trigger on the drill closed such as tape or elastic bands. You can then use both hands to make a more precise spring.

    Great way to make a spring. There are a lot of ways. Try another way. Set up drill in vice where you can control the drill and not damage drill.Then put wire in drill the way you did, but hold the wire with a vice grip as you spin the drill. I think you might have better control. Good luck.

    • @MrMyvids4you
      @MrMyvids4you  10 років тому +1

      Hello Mohamed Salam,
      I couldn´t find in my area any store that sales stainless steel spring wire, so I asked in my local fishing store, and they give me two used springs from old broken triggers mecs.
      If you can´t find stainless steel spring wire try to find a stainless steel rope/cable, look in stores that sell parts for boats, these cables are used in sail boats.
      Good luck, and thanks for watching!

    Hi, do you use armonic steel or normal inox steel ??

    • @MrMyvids4you
      @MrMyvids4you  10 років тому +2

      Hello Angelo,
      I made this video just to show that is possible to make small springs with simple tools! the springs that I made on the video are made from a common steel wire rope.
      To make springs the wire needs to be what you call (armonic or piano wire) and to make springs for spearguns that wire needs to be corrosion resistant, I don´t know if normal stainless steel wire will be good for springs!
      The best is to buy the springs, if that is not possible then try to make it and for that I sujest using stainless steel wire rope/cable, if nothing better is available!

      Hello David Farmer,
      it must be the quality of the wire or the loops have to be more tight together.
      Thanks for the comment.

    if using a variable speed drill when you coil your spring try to hold the mandril at an angle so the wire you are coiling is slightly pressed against the previous formed coil, this will give you better tension in your spring just make sure you pull hard to keep the wire in tension but try not to let the wire over ride the previous coil.
    yours the spring maker...

      Hello colin Burrows,
      I know, the hand drill that i use didn`t help at all, but that`s the only one i have!
      you explaned exactly how to make a spring, having the wire pressed against the last formed coil is very important.
      Visited your channel, that spring making machine is amazing!
      Thanks for the great tips, and for watching my videos!

    can you also make a compression spring?

    • @MrMyvids4you
      @MrMyvids4you  9 років тому +1

      Tom Sobieski Hello Sobieski,
      the difficulty in making a compression spring by hand, will be how to keep the same pitch of the wire coils through out the intire length of the spring. The only way that i´m thinking at this moment is to use a screw, and wrap the wire along the theads!
      Thanks for the comment and for watching my videos!

      you could try a piece of square keystock, or some other flat metal bar. as you wind the metal would keep the gap consistent.

    `why not coil the spring wire the way they do for copper?

    • @MrMyvids4you
      @MrMyvids4you  8 років тому +1

      Hello John Riley,
      because copper is very soft, and the wire for springs is made from hardened steel.
      Thanks for the comment.

    Not an expert, but I've read always wear safety goggles when working with spring wire, because it can snap loose and cause severe injury if you aren't careful. With heavier spring wire, you have to be careful of actual limbs too.

    you could also fire those with a blow torch and harden the wire. I would think that would make it more like a real spring.

    • @MrMyvids4you
      @MrMyvids4you  6 років тому

      Hello Flemish Templar,
      that happened because of the lack of safety fectures in your medieval armor, from what i can see it´s just a simple base model without any extras, like a fire extinguisher, smoke alarm, rear view mirrors, video cameras, gps and much more! The marriage thing, i think it was just bad luck, or mabe it was because of that armor again, the problem is that theres nothing that can be done to reverse it, you just have to live with a goat!
      Thanks for the comment and for watching.

      @@MrMyvids4you Yeah you're absolutely right, my helmet could use some rearview mirrors. It's kinda hard backing up op de driveway when u can't turn your head. I will upgrade it before proceeding. And about my goat.. uh i mean my wife. The reason i married her was because she looked more attractive and feminine then the females in my surrounding. At least, the goat is good at mowing the lawn. How many women do u know that do that chore on their own?

    ахаха. Хрень какая.
    зажми в тисках через деревянные прокладки свое сверло с первыми витками своей пружины.
    Деревяшки обеспечат достаточное трение не только для равномерной навивки, но еще и выровняют твою кривую проволоку. Уже готовые витки нарежут резьбу в деревяшках и стержень с готовой пружиной будет сам выходить. А проволока будет втягиваться всегда в одном месте.
    Если ты сможешь точно намотать первые 3-5 витков для пружины сжатия - такое устройство остальные витки намотает с таким же шагом.
