I also struggled with this even after watching a bunch off videos showing a super detailed long process for what should be really simple. My maestro showed me this exact same method you use (except with a whetstone) and it works!
I think you should have been my apprentice master. You did what took him a month to do in a few minutes. I can not give you the correct amount of praise for that very simple explanation, it would take to long. Thank you for making it so simple.
I've always gone alot finer, after filling 1000 grit diamond stone to polish edge and faces then lay scraper flat and draw out edges with burnisher then turn edges in vice as you did. Edges lasts longer and gives lovely shavings
Thanks Pablo, I never succeeded to sharpen my scrapers really good, for me this is the best way to do it. Thanks again and love the way you explain things in your video's. Greatings, Bart. 👍
Thanks for the video! how do you keep that thumb nail good and build guitars? I build banjos and can't keep my 1st and 2nd nails from braking all the time.
I work carefully.... but I know what you mean, it isn't easy. If it helps, a few years ago I took calcium and zinc tablets every day for a couple of months and it made a huge difference to strengthen my nails. However, check with your doctor first!!
Gracias Pablo, muy útil el video, ahorraré mucho en scrapers. Una pregunta, ¿que espesor deben tener los scrapers? , de cuantas milésimas de grueso los debo adquirir. Saludos desde México!!
Dear sweet Pablo your videos are such a valuable contribution to society ! THANK YOU ! But One thing I need to say is they are lacking Close up pictures . It would be more help full if we could see your hands on the work than to see your whole body all the time . Please focus in on the work so we may see clearly what you are doing . Again Thank You so much for your Time and efforts to make the Best Luthier videos on the net !
before the burnishing, it is important to wipe the scraper off...there will be some particles of abrasive on it from the sandpaper process, and they are much harder than the burnisher- they'll scratch it, which damages it.
Great demonstration. The simplest tool but tricky to sharpen.
Thank you. Such a simple procedure; I can't wait to try it.
Thank you Sir

Great video. Thank you for making it. Do you buy or make your card scrapers? If you make them, what do you make them from?
I have made some small scrapers from a saw blade.
IMHO bahco scrapers from sweden via amazon
I buy them from Axminster tools in the UK, manufactured by Lie Nielsen.
