Very nice videos. Would like to see more like this. Even if we know the tips, a refresher always helps when our faces have been in the action too long and we lose prespective or forget the basics because we are looking so far into the advanced.
My top beginner tip is to memorise your quickest low/mid/overhead basic attack (lowest start up frames) and the reach of the attack. Sounds obvious but the amount of times this has saved me online, by outpoking an opponent to start of a combo etc. It will probably depend on your fighting style I guess.
Flawless block tip: A lot of players think that you have to spend the bar on a flawless block, which is not true. By flawless blocking, some moves actually become more negative on block or make things less safe. It's pretty specific so always check frame data on flawless blocks, a lot of the time you can just flawless block and punish without doing the flawless block attack. Also, delayed wakeup is HUGE when you're fighting through the ranks. Most people get very confused when you do this. I used to never use delayed wakeup, but I got tired of meaty throws. Long story short, it's my go-to wakeup option. After you condition people that you will delay wakeup, the match becomes a lot easier on knockdown. Messing with people's meaty timings is one of the most underrated strategies in this game.
I love to delayed wakeups it mess up their momentum and sometimes i just get up fast and they expect the delayed one that throws them of and yeah you dont have to spend on up 3 or 2 in flawless blocks but it's really good for crossups
TrueUnderDog you’re the absolute best at explaining in detail for us what we should be reminded of and reminding us how to get better. Best MK content and in my opinion by far! Let’s see some more Noob Videos! #DenyTheLight
I do need to explore more anti airs, that has been a problem. Baraka seems to be the only one I play with a great uppercut. Cassie’s bubble in Variation 2 seems good, and I also appreciate the tip about Johnny.
Thank you for this video. It helps a lot. Please do more of these. Im new to fighting games and im having trouble understanding things like frames, effective practice methods and so on. This helps
The wakeup window is static, it as always been, but since the wakeups are universal and no longer different special moves across the cast, you can knock someone down and jump at certain timings without the risk of being hit by U3 or U2 regardless, basically, there is a time frame in the game where one can be airborne and not being anti aired.
This has been one of the most helpful vids for me when it comes to this game. Thank you True. I really just want to beat my friend but he is noticeably better than me. I'm the his god in SFV, he can't beat me, but I'm trying to beat him in one of the games he plays, which is Injustice 2 and Mk11. I know I also gotta spend time in the lab. Smh.
Just because a fighter is considered "low tier", doesn't mean that it's no good. A good, experienced player will make you hurt, no matter the character, if you're not ready for it.
If you're a novice, you can't just RELY on performing exactly what he's telling you to do and think it's gonna work. You have to already be familiar with playing the game and how matches usually flow, AND when your opponent is going to attempt a throw. Once you've got that knowledge, THEN you can apply what Trueunderdawg is saying.
Awesome video Dawg ..I put away mk11 away couple of days ..wasnt panning on playing it again until spawn comes out but this video made me want to pick it up again
@TheBlackDrag0n i had a hard time doing so too, mainly because my play style is too aggressive and a total rush down. last Kombat League season i had terrible wins/loss record. and all that because i kept getting whiff punished... i did make adjustments to my play style towards the end of the season.
Utilise plus frames I've notice a lot of people that get plus frames don't have the timing down for their follow up option. And learn what special moves are on hit some characters get really good options from meeterless unbreakable combos. Example: as cetrion f23, db1 on hit leaves you like +15 and you can dash throw, repeat f23, jail a dash 1 for like +3 into strike throw with d1. And take a risk for god sakes quit repeatedly poking back and forth cancel it into something can pay off big against quick pokers. Example: as jacqui stagger f2, d1, db4 for a combo of they try to poke after d1.
Best tip if you’re on console is to buy a FightStick!!! My god I had no idea it made that much of a difference. You can get a cheap one for $40 that’s just as good as the higher priced ones
Damn this is good info. Subbed. I’m still learning to think of game mechanics in terms of frame data. In-game I just lose the thread. I guess the content I’m looking for is “strategic” and this is good strategic info
Dude awesome. I am still looking for any way to improve. I have not been able to get past demi-god rank in kombat league. Maybe these tips will help me.
No, use your meter. I frequently use the roll to get out of the corner, or even backwards to slip through a combo, and block just the tail end if it reaches me. The get-up's only become an issue if they're overused, causing you to become predictable. Moderation is the key, unless your opponent is in a frenzy, and doesn't catch on.
what are the characters that have a poke witch leads to a combo?cuz you can poke and special cancel, instead of standing up,you have a larger window to punish with a poke
I started playing 2 days ago and im 9-44 :D (I play terminator only) I suck at blocking and closing the gap. They hit me with projectile and while I try to close they jump on me and start a combo. How do I practice blocking then punishing against each characters and close the gap on some situations? Thank you.

Arkrilix Art try your hardest to not let him take his turn, and don’t be so scared by his staggers, even if you get hit a few times prioritize getting the advantage and poking him out of things
You can flawless block the F331+3 string at the end. That will make him scared to do the full string and he will stagger more. Then u can read the stagger and take ur turn. Or just zone jax all day 😕
Brilliant video bro.. Yea I just went up against a Kung Lao who literally only jumped then the drop kick and amplify.. Then on the ground throws is all he knows. It wasn't even fun wen ppl play like that but yea, jade + down2 😂

Could you do a video that fully explains frame data. I have been trying to wrap my head around it but no one is willing to walk me through it.
I have a tip watch other players that use your main character and keep track at what they are doing
I do this with AI Battles. I sometimes put my main in my team of 3 (with certain abilities), to see how the computer plays.
