Atrocious sportsmanship by Firouzja after this game. He appealed by (falsely) claiming that Magnus "spoke loudly in his language" during the match. Fortunately, the bogus appeal was denied. I have *zero* respect for Firouzja until he apologizes for his poor sportsmanship..

Carlsen can checkmate Firouzja from the final position because Firouzja still has pawns. It's not a forced checkmate, but the rules only say that a checkmate must be possible.
This is the kind of mistake you make when you play too much online chess and forget the rules of OTB chess.
