Thanks for thoroughly explaining the pros and cons of both drones. This is basically not a comparison of which drone is better as obviously, one will never go wrong with any of these drones. But it's more of an explanation of which drone is best for diff kinds of purposes
I love my Mini3Pro. Im from Qld by the way. The noise that the Air2S makes gets the people around me intimidated. So I was more focus on the distraction rather than shooting that cinematic shots. But when I flew the Mini3Pro, nobody even noticed it. It was so quiet its even quieter than my Mini2. So I could focus more on the shot that I wanted instead of thinking about the fear that somebody might confront you while your drone is up in the sky. And lose control. And the list goes on. So for me and my needs, its Mini3Pro all the way!

I'm going to have to stick with my Air 2 S since it has an internal cooling fan, and the Mini 3 Pro does not. That makes a big difference here in Arizona.
I have the Mavic 3 with the RC Pro controller and the Air 2S, I am waiting for delivery of my Mini 3 Pro. Initially I thought I would sell my Air 2S but have decided to wait and see how the Mini 3 performs once I have it. The Air 2S is a great drone and I may keep it, it's the best bang for the buck of all the DJI drones. I purchased the Mini 3 Pro due to its size and weight that should allow me to get into places that my other two drones can't go due to regulations. I will get the RC controller that comes with the kit but I won't be using once I can use my RC Pro to control the Mini 3 Pro. The RC controller with 700 nits is the same quality of many cellular phones minus all the options you have with the RC Pro. Thanks for the comparison review.
Again, you've presented all the necessary information in a clear and engaging way. And I always appreciate that you'll give your honest and practical assessment. Here in Europe we are still waiting to see exactly what the new 2023 regulations will be, especially 'C' class drones and 'Legacy' drones. I live in Ireland and in a county with almost no significant hills, so wind patterns are a major factor (besides the almost inevitable rain showers). My Air 2S does report frequent wind warnings at higher legal altitude. So I assume the Mini line would be less feasible for me. Will the enhanced batteries be available in Australia for the Mini 3 Pro?
Thank you for commenting. I’m curious to see what happens with the updated regulations. The Air 2S is fantastic and performs extremely well in high winds. It looks like we will get the enhanced batteries but I don’t know when 😂 There have been massive delays.

Great video...but 1 thing you missed on this. The mini 3 pro does have a smaller sensor like you mentioned BUT with the f1.7 apperture compared to the f2.8 on the air 2s the smaller sensor on the mini 3 pro is getting exposed to nearly twice the amount of light (1.7 to 2.8 is more than double in light but the smaller surface area of the sensor drops that slighlty) From what I've seen, it's actually better in low light.
The important question is, as you say, for what do I want this drone? I keep asking myself this when I consider what comes next after my Mini 2. The RC controller sure has my interest. Cheers from Wisconsin.

Yes! That is a great point and something that I missed. Noise is a big factor for a lot of people and the Mini 3 Pro can go undetected in most situations.
Funny how things are....the drone that is less regulated is the one that does not has ADS-B, which is clearly a safety feature in terms of colision! Anyway, your comparasion and analysis was helpful and I thank you for that. My mind is in portability, "low profile" and less fuss to fly a quadropter that allows me to see the world from above, so having said that, the "3" is the way to go. Only for that! because in my heart is the "2S". Cheers!
Great video, but regarding the 48mpx of the mini 3, it's not 4 picture stitched, its the quad bayer. It does have effectively 48mpx, just not arranged into rggb, but in rrrr-gggg-gggg-bbbb configuration. It does capture a lot more luminance information than 12mpx sensor, but not more in term of color.
@@DansTubeTV There is a lot of misinformation online about that... Actually even the 20mpx of the 1inch out there have 20 millions photosite. 5 million red, 5 millions blue and 10 millions green. The final image get "debayered" (interpolated) to 20 millions rgb pixel. There is however a useful limit to the number of megapixel you can put in a small sensor due to diffration of the lens. The mini 3 focus is also a little bit challenging (the wide aperture result into a blurry background quickly) so i dont think it truly reach its full potential in term of detail but it is still very useful to have all these extra pixel as they can do dual native iso, live hdr and great noise reduction... Unless someone want to crop the picture (zoom) i recommand sticking with the 12mpx for the hdr/noise reduction advantage, but its great to have both options!

Very helpful. My only concern with how I’ll use it is the obstacle avoidance. I’d like it to be able to follow me driving off-road which sometimes may be in areas with trees beside the track. It’s hard to then justify the additional cost for the extra obstacle avoidance sensor. Any suggestions would help.
You can download apps like Litchi, Dronelink or Maven which can open up Follow Me options. The drone will then be tracking the signal from the controller and can track you while moving behind trees. I’ve got some videos on my channel 😁
Looks like the new DJI wireless mic. I have one also and it is far better than the Rode. I highly recommend it, if you can get one. They are out of stock everywhere.
Have you tested the limit of wind speed that takes the drone away? Yes, Air2S has larger moment of inertia, which stabilizes the flight. But payload difference is only 20% (420g vs 520g), which generates the force to resist winds. Air2S requires larger power because the surface area that receives winds is larger.
Disagree around the Rc being better than NC1. V similar signal strength but phone is way more flexible has data if desired for maps, can duels straight to phone and phone way more recoverable in case if damage or error
I prefer the all in one experience of the DJI RC, luckily this is all personal preference. I do see the drawbacks of the RC and notice that the standard controller and phone offer some additional features as well.
Coming from original Mavic Mini my main fear is the distance, mine has awful range of 500 meter max in fields without losing connection. Noticed too much negative reviews on Mini 3 Pro range, that's a big issue.
BIG QUESTION: What about the noise of the Air2? That's my main concern I think. I like the camera much more in the Air in this video and others online. Can you use the new controller or the headset with the Air? My context is I'm going to be teaching agroforestry and vlogging and want to be able to capture a really good context for the viewer. I wondered if the Air2 would be too loud to speak over with a mic? Edit: This was just a great video, the ability to look up on the mini might be really good for getting under a fruit canopy. Wish they would take the best of both of these and put it into one that is a little cinematic when the new battery tech comes out. Makes me think the mini might be good to get as having a beginner one, then upgrade it when more tech comes. I'm not too thrilled with the results of the mini though. The Air2 better not malfunction and go down in the water. Can these fly in the rain? Float? waterproof?
Thanks for watching! They both make a noise that will turn heads, the Mini 3 isn’t as noticeable. You would want to use a mic to narrate while the drones are far away from you anyway, the buzzing of a drone is not what you want in a video / teaching / recording. DJI drones are not waterproof. I would avoid rain. Drones sink 💦

i had the Air 2 but sold it and went mini3 pro and the rc and loving it even though its had some issues its pretty much there with my air2 also flies very similar to the air 2
@@DansTubeTV yes loving it and no pissing about with cables or phones. i put up a video about no maps and afc not great also video feed tiny freeze glitch have you suffered? check it out.
The maps do not appear unless you’re hot-spotting and occasionally the video feed will freeze if you change modes or access different menus. The autofocus has been fine on my end 📷
hey does dji rc have a good expericence, like does the app crash/struggle to run or anything. I’m considering it because it’s screen would be much better than my iphone 7+. also do you have any experience in commercial use drones, I want to sell aerial photos for real estate and etc until i get a real job. what type of licenses do i need for the mini in victoria
I would suggest reaching out to a drone school. I went through Ace Aviation. I am a licensed drone operator but they are the people to ask about specifics. The DJI RC is awesome, I love using it. It can occasionally be a little slow (performance can slow down slightly at times). Otherwise, it is responsive and reliable.
The minis are always under 200g here. Still, not having to deal with DJI always requiring crazy phones, the mini 3 could be the way to go. $2k over here, though. I'm still trying to figure out the bitrate, I really don't care about 4k, that doesn't do much for quality.
These prices were based on the prices available through the D1 Store at the time of me making this video. I am based in Australia so prices might vary.
I am a little confused with your comment about the price of the DJI Air2S. You can get the Air2s flymore for $1299 from DJI, which includes two extra batteries. You stated that it was $1699?
Great video, but I really don't get why its so good to have own screen, because I my RC controller (I have Mini 2 and thinking about Air 2S as second or more like main drone, want to have sub 250 for certain areas where I can't fly bigger drone), because my RC controller last longer and when I connect to my phone it charges the phone, also if I need to connect to internet for updating home point manually for example I need to create hotspot so I need my phone anyway, so I really don't see a reason to spend extra money on this controller when it could make life even harder.
I never need to hotspot to my phone, it is a nice experience to fly the drone without worrying about your phone. I get what you’re saying though, it isn’t for everyone.

thank you for the very valuable video. A bit of nitpicking, sorry pointing it out but I think it can be misleading (and contradictory) 9:46 you say Air 2s allowing more light and it is incorrect (as you already pointed out earlier on this). The Mini 3 sensor has a surface area of 69 mm^2 while the Air 2S has an area slightly less than double with 116 mm^2, however the aperture of 1.7 allows more than twice the amount of light in than 2.8 so if the light transmission and pixels vignetting are not a factor the Mini 3 actually allows slightly more light in. However the larger pixel of the Air 2S offers a better signal to noise ratio so better dynamic range.
I have both, the A2s does drain Battery a lot more compare with the M3P specially when u fly in far distances. I do not talk about scenarios where u only fly about 100 Meters wide or high. But when u Fly distances like 1 km wide and move from location to location in this distance u will drain the A2s so much faster in compare with the mini3p. The mini 3 does drain a lot less the battery in fast flying! And now after some updates both supports Mastershots in 4k 30FPS. But the Photo and Video quality getting with the A2s are in all scenarios better then the Mini 3 P, only in Dark scenes the M3P has a little better light coming into sensor but only in 12 MPX !!
The Air 2S will do the job for most people. If you have extra money or the company will pay for it then go for the Mavic 3, if you want to save some money then the Air 2S will be perfectly fine for real estate shots.
Wow over here in the USA, prices are closer! Mini 3 pro with the smart controller is 909 bucks, the Air 2S fly more combo is only 1299 And the fly More kit for the mini is an extra 200 bucks so yeah! Super close lol

@@DansTubeTV Yep! Both are 1029€ and with the fly more kit added on top they are almost the same. The air 2s' kit is a bit more expensive, but almost the same. (speaking of the mini 3 with dji RC) I still went for the mini 3 pro because of the controller, and longer battery life. Just about to order some plus batteries from china xd One of my main reasons was the peace of mind that comes with a sub 250g drone too

I have the same preference. Professional photographers fly on weekdays while hobbiests fly weekends, when many people are present.

I brought a mini 3 I thought was shit loosing signal after 1 km in built up area so I took it back waiting to get the the air 2s hoping will be better

You can download apps like Litchi, Dronelink or Maven which can open up Follow Me options. The drone will then be tracking the signal from the controller and can track you while moving behind trees. I’ve got some videos on my channel 😁

I hope so but I don’t know, AirSense is not spoken about that much.
Have you tested the limit of wind speed that takes the drone away? Yes, Air2S has larger moment of inertia, which stabilizes the flight. But payload difference is only 20% (420g vs 520g), which generates the force to resist winds. Air2S requires larger power because the surface area that receives winds is larger.
No, I haven’t put my drones in dangerous wind conditions. I have put both of them in high winds with gusts of 35km/h+ though 💨
Disagree around the Rc being better than NC1. V similar signal strength but phone is way more flexible has data if desired for maps, can duels straight to phone and phone way more recoverable in case if damage or error
I prefer the all in one experience of the DJI RC, luckily this is all personal preference. I do see the drawbacks of the RC and notice that the standard controller and phone offer some additional features as well.
Coming from original Mavic Mini my main fear is the distance, mine has awful range of 500 meter max in fields without losing connection.
Noticed too much negative reviews on Mini 3 Pro range, that's a big issue.
I have had no issues with range on the Mini 3 Pro. You need to keep the drone in line of sight though.
BIG QUESTION: What about the noise of the Air2? That's my main concern I think. I like the camera much more in the Air in this video and others online. Can you use the new controller or the headset with the Air? My context is I'm going to be teaching agroforestry and vlogging and want to be able to capture a really good context for the viewer. I wondered if the Air2 would be too loud to speak over with a mic? Edit: This was just a great video, the ability to look up on the mini might be really good for getting under a fruit canopy. Wish they would take the best of both of these and put it into one that is a little cinematic when the new battery tech comes out. Makes me think the mini might be good to get as having a beginner one, then upgrade it when more tech comes. I'm not too thrilled with the results of the mini though. The Air2 better not malfunction and go down in the water. Can these fly in the rain? Float? waterproof?
Thanks for watching! They both make a noise that will turn heads, the Mini 3 isn’t as noticeable. You would want to use a mic to narrate while the drones are far away from you anyway, the buzzing of a drone is not what you want in a video / teaching / recording.
DJI drones are not waterproof. I would avoid rain. Drones sink 💦

The maps do not appear unless you’re hot-spotting and occasionally the video feed will freeze if you change modes or access different menus. The autofocus has been fine on my end 📷

hey does dji rc have a good expericence, like does the app crash/struggle to run or anything. I’m considering it because it’s screen would be much better than my iphone 7+. also do you have any experience in commercial use drones, I want to sell aerial photos for real estate and etc until i get a real job. what type of licenses do i need for the mini in victoria
I would suggest reaching out to a drone school. I went through Ace Aviation. I am a licensed drone operator but they are the people to ask about specifics. The DJI RC is awesome, I love using it. It can occasionally be a little slow (performance can slow down slightly at times). Otherwise, it is responsive and reliable.
The minis are always under 200g here. Still, not having to deal with DJI always requiring crazy phones, the mini 3 could be the way to go. $2k over here, though. I'm still trying to figure out the bitrate, I really don't care about 4k, that doesn't do much for quality.
The Mini 3 Pro has a max bitrate of 150 Mbps. Thanks for watching 👀

I am a little confused with your comment about the price of the DJI Air2S. You can get the Air2s flymore for $1299 from DJI, which includes two extra batteries. You stated that it was $1699?
When I created this video, the Air 2S was $1699 AUD. I was using www.d1store.com.au as my reference point.

Great video, but I really don't get why its so good to have own screen, because I my RC controller (I have Mini 2 and thinking about Air 2S as second or more like main drone, want to have sub 250 for certain areas where I can't fly bigger drone), because my RC controller last longer and when I connect to my phone it charges the phone, also if I need to connect to internet for updating home point manually for example I need to create hotspot so I need my phone anyway, so I really don't see a reason to spend extra money on this controller when it could make life even harder.
I never need to hotspot to my phone, it is a nice experience to fly the drone without worrying about your phone. I get what you’re saying though, it isn’t for everyone.

thank you for the very valuable video. A bit of nitpicking, sorry pointing it out but I think it can be misleading (and contradictory) 9:46 you say Air 2s allowing more light and it is incorrect (as you already pointed out earlier on this). The Mini 3 sensor has a surface area of 69 mm^2 while the Air 2S has an area slightly less than double with 116 mm^2, however the aperture of 1.7 allows more than twice the amount of light in than 2.8 so if the light transmission and pixels vignetting are not a factor the Mini 3 actually allows slightly more light in. However the larger pixel of the Air 2S offers a better signal to noise ratio so better dynamic range.

I have both, the A2s does drain Battery a lot more compare with the M3P specially when u fly in far distances. I do not talk about scenarios where u only fly about 100 Meters wide or high. But when u Fly distances like 1 km wide and move from location to location in this distance u will drain the A2s so much faster in compare with the mini3p. The mini 3 does drain a lot less the battery in fast flying! And now after some updates both supports Mastershots in 4k 30FPS. But the Photo and Video quality getting with the A2s are in all scenarios better then the Mini 3 P, only in Dark scenes the M3P has a little better light coming into sensor but only in 12 MPX !!

The Air 2S will do the job for most people. If you have extra money or the company will pay for it then go for the Mavic 3, if you want to save some money then the Air 2S will be perfectly fine for real estate shots.
Does Activetrack only work in 4k 30fps? for both drones?
Yes, I believe so. Check the product specs on DJI’s website.
Not sure for me why you demo in 4k 25fps when 4k 60fps gives so much better footage
We use pal in Australia so I typically use 25fps or 50fps. I should start using 50fps more.
