Does it work on brutal difficulty when aliens are much more powerful?

early game yes, but when the aliens out number you and have alot of point defence no. thats late game and when you need to pivot to lasers. but if your dealing with survey and invasion ships early game it still works fine

Nice to hear another Aussie voice picking up where Perun left. I'd love to see an update of tactics and overview of what's changed in the game.
I stopped playing it a while back after a few play-throughs proved the game needed a lot of work to balance it and make it enjoyable for most players that don't have a masochistic streak. It has a lot of potential but is damn complex with so much of how the game works hidden, making it difficult to understand for many. Harder still with all the updates. Harder again if pandering to fanbois that do nothing to actually bring in new players and money. I hope Johnny Lump and co make a success out of this though as it's probably the most realistic grand strategy game out.

couldn't agree more, the game has a lot of potential and is very enjoyable. But it's lack of direction and explanation on same mechanics can be extremely frustrating. You end up having to do some digging online and risk spoilers. I think a tool tip system could do this game wonders as seen in star-sector and the like one which can be disabled in options. None the less I'm glad you liked my video and I'll consider doing a more in-depth guide on ship design, retrofitting, roles etc and on Alien AI with emapsis on updates to the alien hate level system.

Biggest issue is how needless time consuming everything in the game is. I gave up after 200+ hours. This game has no chance of success because the developers are autistic amateurs who have a flawed idea of what a game should be and are shooting themselves in the foot. It's a great game in my imaginary but zero fun when playing. Just to give an example they fucking expect the players to constantly watch the fleet list which takes a long time to load and is slow to scan. If you don't do that you find too late that the aliens are moving a massive fleet to Earth or other space you control because of all things the game doesn't notify those. And the game has dozens of those stupid flows.

@@theonlyD I think calling the developers autistic amateurs is abit harsh.
You can speed things up in the custom menu or by playing on the accelerated campaign mode.
But if your used to other long 4X games like HOI4 or Stellaris it's not a massive difference.
I do agree that the games UI needs to better inform players when their fleets or habs are being targeted. But honestly to avoid aliens from bombarding your countries until late game war you need to sacrifice somethings to lower their hate/aggression level.
But your right, forgetting space and then losing the race and needing to start again is crippling.
Nonetheless I do recommend this game, there's some great tips and tricks videos if u want to get back into it by PerungamingAU.
The best advice i can give is run it on a slower speed run accelerated campaigns so things get serious in 2030 i.e. quicker and don't play space and earth like two separate games. both need to be juggled simultaneously.
TLDR comments on developers are a bit harsh. There are ways to speed up the game using accelerated mode but i agree it is long although comparable to other 4X games. There are great guides on how to handle the aliens by PerungamingAU however I agree the UI and notification system needs a rework.
      Thanks for joining the conversation,
I love hearing other perspectives :D

@@digihelix2514 You assumed a lot of wrong things about me.
1 - I played a lot of long 4X games including Stellaris and there's a big difference. Stellaris is first and foremost a game, it has a constant difficulty curve and is a major success. TI is a passion project which will sooner or later leave the majority of it's backers frustrated.
2 - I don't mean autistic as derogatory. I'm probably in the spectrum as well. By autistic amateurs I mean that the developers despite having a great vision are incapable of taking feedback and don't know how to develop a game that is fun. I don't know if anyone there is really autistic and it doesn't matter.
3 - You're assuming I found the game hard and quit due to lack of skill but that's not the case. You're giving obvious and gratuitous tips that are too simplistic to be useful.
4 - I played an accelerated campaign and still took 200+ hours to get to 2030-ish which is insane.
5 - I play on max speed and the issue isn't speed but frequently have to pause to micromanage Earth, dozens of stations, to check fleets and more while the game gives the player very poor tools to do it.
6 - It's insane to tell people to watch many hours long videos to learn how to play better. This tells that everything you say should be taken as dubious/dishonest because you're an unreasonable fanboy. It's a f# gaming and everybody should be able to learn it by playing it. And watching Perun doesn't fix the many game issues.
7 - Perun videos from the few minutes I watched are not even that useful. He unnecessarily complicates things. There are advantages to attack aliens earlier and it's easy as you get tech and hamper their progression on Earth. Also it's stupid to micromanage combat as much as he does as it's not reliable and waste a lot of time.

@theonlyD I apologize if my first comment came across as rude. Online due to lack of information on the other party assumption are inevitable like the ones you have also made. Nonetheless I apologize for upsetting you that was never my intention.
Infact I am enjoying this discussion/debate and as such I will answer your comments 1-by-1:
      1. It was wrong of me to assume you hadn’t played 4X games before. I thought due to your comment on the length of game you hadn’t had experience with games like this. While Terra Invicta has a difficulty curve I think it is one in keeping with the games theme of fighting a near unwinnable battle against a technologically superior force. You are assume it is only a passion project and that the developers will fail and leave the backers frustrated this opinion and assumption is one I don’t share and disagree with.
      2. In the context of your last comment it seemed you were using autistic as an insult. I too am likely on the spectrum as most people are, if you didn’t mean it as an insult then I apologize for the misunderstanding. Nonetheless “autistic amateurs” to me at least reads as an insult.
You are correct in that the developers of Terra Invicta have a fantastic vision, this I agree with, however I don’t agree with your assumption that they don’t take feed back or know how to make a game which is fun. I find Terra Invicta very fun, and the team takes feedback as they have promised to improve the UI and notification system which they have started with the alien hate mechanic. They have also listened to feedback and pledged to make the game multiplayer later down the line.
      3. It is a hard game, given your prior comment was about losing after putting 200hrs in due seemed to me like you where taking issue with the difficulty. I never said u weren’t skilled though or at least never meant to imply such. Again I’m sorry if I upset you, it was never my intention.
Some people have found my tips helpful, I myself wanted to find a video like this which is why I made one. Although it may be obvious to some it isn’t to all.
      4. No way accelerated took you 200+hrs I recently played accelerated am on 2040 and It only took at absolute most 24hr and that’s on the extreme end of my estimation. I only have 100hrs in the game and have hit the 2040s 5 times which would mean 20hrs per campaign on average. That seems about right to me and 200+ seems an exaggeration. Nonetheless it is a slow game so I recommend using custom settings if u have the accelerated game too slow.
It is insane but I find it very fun and fulfilling.
      5. I couldn’t agree more, playing on max speed is hard I tend to only make moves when I assign my councilors then I 5 speed the rest moving armies as need be etc.
But yes it is tricky to micro, while UI improvements would definitely help with his I feel it is no more micro heavy then a game like HOI4.
      6. Again it seems like your doing personal attacks here calling me a unreasonable fanboy and dubious/dishonest I’m trying to have a conversation with you and if it’s going to result in petty insults im not interested. I was merely trying to recommend sources to help, many users find guides helpful with 4x game myself included. I never said people had to learn the game or forced anyone to watch videos again I feel you are being unreasonable here. I don’t think it’s a “f# game” and while watching peruns videos isn’t going to fix it you have to remember its still in development. HOI4 and Stellaris both had shitty UI before they were where they are now. Again your assuming it won’t get better, and that somehow I’m a bad person by trying to help. Which I don’t understand.
      7. I like Peruns videos personally they helped me. I found them very useful although they could use an update. I don’t think he complicates things. Attacking aliens early has its advantages and disadvantages mainly alien hate level. But provided you can sacrifice some space assets you manage alright. Although eventually you have to decide when to go all out.
I disagree that macro-ing combat is unreliable and a waste of time.
I’ve never had an issue with my tactics personally and find the auto-resolve more unreliable then saying “fine I’ll do this myself”.
At the end of the day it’s all personal opinion different strokes for different folks. I apologize again if I upset you but If your going to turn this from an interesting debate/discussion into petty insults like calling me “dubious/dishonest” and an “unreasonable fanboy” then I’m not interested in this discussion. I have many issues with the game at current and never said it was perfect but I do think it has a lot of potential. I apologize for my earlier assumptions, I don’t understand why you’ve painted this negative imagine of myself in your head but nonetheless I hope we can continue to have a civil discussion.
I hope you have a great day and thanks for engaging, I appreciate your feedback and even if we can’t agree I hope we can agree to disagree.
      See you around @theonlyD :3
