  • The last installment of Lewis' BBC addresses left on tape. This is what would eventually become the chapter of Mere Christianity entitled "Beyond Personality". I encourage the translation of this video into different languages (with due sourcing of course) so if you are so inclined and have the talent . . .

      "I long to meet my Saviour first of all." :) But I do look forward to meeting C.S. Lewis. Having long been familiar with only his works of fiction, I am only recently beginning to explore his works of theology and philosophy and discover what a great mind and heart for God he really had. He more than anyone else I ever read or heard explains why Christianity is the most intellectually honest belief system in existence. Yes, thank you God for C.S. Lewis, and the brilliant explanations of your Truth which he gave us.

      Is it of him reading it, or is it of his addresses a couple of years before, from which the book was derived? ua-cam.com/video/m4hI638mskQ/v-deo.html There is much overlap, but also some interesting differences. The best picture of his perception of the matter actually comes from listening to the one and reading the other. Interestingly he changed his view on one point in the intervening years between the lectures and the book. Who can tell me what it is? :)

    I have been following C. S. Lewis since before he died in 1963. He has touch my life almost as much as the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In fact, he has re-presented Christ to me in terms that even Jesus would have had problems showing.
    May his journey begin again and again in all hearts who find his works. May his eternal life be only the beginning of the best of all stories.
    Jim

    • @SethCorbinMusic
      @SethCorbinMusic 5 років тому +10

      I understand your sentiment of appreciating C.S. Lewis for his writings and understandings of God and scripture. However, if "Jesus would have had problems showing" you anything at all, then something is off with what you believe about Jesus' ability.

      @chucksolutions4579 5 років тому +2

      Hey Jim,
      I too have been brought back from depression and back to my faith in Christ through Lewis's works. Lewis was the tool in the hand of Christ. Never would it have been harder for Jesus to have brought you to Him.
      Anyways, much love from a fellow follower of Christ and student of Lewis

    • @jerryglenn5150

      With Him, all things are possible, including speaking to you through Lewis. Fellow prodigals are lead to Lewis just as those caught up in human intellect (as imperfect as it is) have been lead to the members of IDW: Jordan Peterson, the Weinstein brothers and others. If they in turn lead people back to Him....It is looking for the divine in each of these, each reader, even in our enemies that will help us focus on His face and not sink in the storms that distract us.

    • @atallguynh
      @atallguynh 4 роки тому +2

      @@SethCorbinMusic I can't speak for him, but I believe Jim was simply saying that Jesus, in the time in which he lived, did not speak in ways and with illustrations that Lewis, as a 20th century man could speak to us.
      Christ could have referenced the Nazis and so on, but it would have been gibberish for his time. The comment isn't about the limitations of His power, but just the constraints inherent in the context of His time on Earth.

    One of my favorite writers and thinkers... and a star in the lineage of Christian Apologists:
    Chesterton>Lewis>Muggeridge (whom I have come to regard as a pompous ass)>Gomes.
    (Incidentally, the last, Peter J. Gomes, unlike the others, was American, of African/Cape Verdean/Sephardic descent, Gay, and the Chaplain at Harvard for years.)
    What they all have in common is a near-empirical/logical conclusion on the genuineness of Christianity, which, as a devout Theist, I find much more convincing than a simple belief in, and espousal of, Biblical Inerrancy.
    Could I be convinced of the singular truth of Christianity, the writings of these men, Lewis especially, would achieve that.
    (The "Narnia" music is a nice touch!)

    I have discovered the ultimate truth can only be found in Theology namely Christian Theology, which explores the deepest side of God and His Creation. Science has explored the bounds of its habitation long ago and has stumbled into the area of God. Science today is being lead by blind men who are feeling blindly around the walls of materialism have have discovered they cannot go any further. They are feeling around not realising its a wall.
    Origin, meaning and purpose are Supernatural phenomenon
