    Speaker: Adam Shook
This session assumes absolutely no knowledge of Apache Hadoop and will provide a complete introduction to all the major aspects of the Hadoop ecosystem of projects and tools. If you are looking to get up to speed on Hadoop, trying to work out what all the Big Data fuss is about, or just interested in brushing up your understanding of MapReduce, then this is the session for you. We will cover all the basics with detailed discussion about HDFS, MapReduce, YARN (MRv2), and a broad overview of the Hadoop ecosystem including Hive, Pig, HBase, ZooKeeper and more.

+Angela Morgan I agree completely. Especially if you are just learning about Hadoop (like me).

I don't really understand what Zookeeper is supposed to do that isn't already a core design principle of Hadoop. If I understand correctly I write Pig, it will be compiled to MapReduce and then executed in a distributed way. Why would I need more distribution management?

Hi, I am new to this technology. I just heard Hadoop never worked on it. I worked on oracle where we use to have 5 nodes. 4 data nodes and one index node. Whenever we query data it goes to index node get directions on which data node to search and proceed. How is it different from Hadoop?

Definitely not a good tutorial for beginners. Speaker's voice is too monotone with no enthusiasm. He read from the presentation slides, which was an instant turn off. Presentation was drab and unexciting, couldn't get into it.

Not a great tutorial for beginners. Poorly presented. Just watched 20 mins.More slides than pictures. Felt like sitting in a class room. Not enough patience to go thru the entire one.
