For the past few years, USA has been one of the most desirable educational destinations for international students.
in my school we dont get to choose the classes that we take, the whole grade just takes all the same ones and we dont have any other options, what should i do?

LoliTa Keiti sama Colleges are trained to understand your national curriculum. If they don’t, they will research it. You should take the most rigorous curriculum available to you. You’re not expected to take any courses that are not available to you.

I’m an Irish student and my school doesn’t offer AP classes either so I’m assuming to just take as many top level classes that are available to you? And you do have to take either the SATs or the ACTs I believe, depending on where you want to go study. Go to the International a student section on the SATs college board website because they explain all the dates!

You dont have to worry about AP classes if your school doesnt offer its not your problem but SAT or ACT is required for most of the colleges in my country i have to pay 54$ to take SAT and another 54$ for ACT
Hey! It’s the same way in my high school in Turkey. I study by myself to TOFL and SAT, I won’t be taking any AP classes. And I try to ask as many questions to my teacher in my hs. It’s even harder to me because I’m not native. Also, we don’t have a chance to chose our own classes.

Conquer College Admissions that there is a chance for me
my school doesnt offer AP or advanced classes because in germany, the system is very complicated. there are different high schools, some are a lower level which have easier classes and other schools that are higher level that offer more difficult classes. so you can imagine it as the AP classes being the most high level schools vs the basic classes being the lower level schools. im attending a school thats the highest level and its the only type of school that offers a high school diploma which allows you to get into uni in the first place, so this is my alternative for AP classes bc theyre not offered anywhere.
the only extra thing im doing (and can do) is a cambridge proficiency english test along with my normal graduation exams which ive heard is accepted by harvard for example..? i also want to take toefl after graduation since im planning on taking a gap year. im unable to apply before graduation without a diploma bc i wont have my grades yet + its too stressful.
we dont have the same type of extracurriculars that the US has, theyre not listed anywhere if you attend them and my school kind of only offers 2..? and theyre very unpopular, nobody is part of them.
we also dont have sports teams at all.
i also have to mention that im not german and have only been living here since 2015, so i cant speak german fluently which means in my grades being much worse than they wouldve been otherwise. i find this super unfair bc i didnt have a choice, my parents decided to move here. what am i supposed to do?
basically my situation puts me in a position that results in me being totally screwed no matter what i do .. :/

I have a question (As an International Student from Brazil, where we don't have this sense of doing extracurriculars during high school years bc we "don't need" them to apply to a national university) . Do you believe it is possible to get into universities with merit scholarships if I didn't apply right after I finished my High School? I have never seen anyone talking about applying for scholarships during gap years (well-used gap years ofc, doing international volunteer work, UN simulations, languages, and entrepreneur projects...). In my case, I just found out what I am really passionate about during my current major here in Brazil and I am willing to do everything I can to make this dream come true, but I don't know what are the chances of making this happen since I already enrolled in an undergraduate program. Am I "too old" to apply as a Freshman???

Thanks for the helpful video, but what happens with the students who didn't have the opportunity to belong to a special team (the school didn't have those), neither win any kind of contest in any field (the school didn't participate in them) nor have AP classes. I'm still positive, I only have the first place in my class, so I'll try my best to get accepted. Do you think I have any chance? I'm from Peru.

That is what your personal essay should be about then; and what you did to cope with that and to overcome the shortcomings. That is exactly what the schools are interested in hearing about. But it should motivate you to do something extra to overcome the problem and show that you turned bad into good somehow.

Anyway, I got a full scholarship in one of the best universities in my country, so I will just work like hell and do the best it can be to be able to reach my goals. Hope anyone gives up on their dreams.

I'm an international student and I have a question about the American admission process. If you don't have the opportunity or the money to course the IB program due to geographical or financial problems, can this factor affect negatively your chance to enter to the University? Is the IB program a huge factor that can take a lot of importance when looking your admission, or it's just something that may help your application but not define it?

Its never late! You can consider appearing for SATs/ACTs, TOEFL etc. the next year after JEE. What if you get into prestigious institutions? Can't deny those right

Hi! It is required to submit your freshman/sophomore grades at the moment you are applying to college if you are taking the IB, or you just submit your IB predicted score?
hey! i think theyre needed to be submitted but colleges would mostly look at your ib diploma and the HLs you took to offer you college credit. if your IB scores arent out by the application deadline of the college, the predicted scores are to be sent to the college or the common/coalition app by the ibo. hope this helps!

Hey, i'm from Brazil and our high shools are totally different than other countrys' schools, we don't have clubs at school. nor AP classes and we don't get to choose our classes, it is what it is. So how could i level myself to all the other students who have these kind of things on their schools?? Does it have the same impact or make any differenceif i do all by my own, like self thaught and private teachers??

Like nobody can’t tell you exactly what you should do. But a few recommendations could be, be involve in engineering, start your own club, I think nasa or something like that have a special camp that also accepts international students. You could be doing some community service focus on space, like giving classes or sharing your knowledge.

Im currently applying to US and my school doesn't have a school profile too. I dont want the context of my school and all that yada yada to be lost just because my school fail to provide such document. So, what did I do ? I made it with them. At first I wanted them to make it, you know, once for all. But they really didnt seem to to care too much, so I visited my counselor and all the other respective offices. I gathered all the data, I connected everyone, basically I did what I need to do to get this 4-page of a school profile.
And, voila, it's done. It's approved by my school, and I now have a school profile to accompany my application.

It's never too late! Don't give up, do your best and learn A LOT about something that's tied to what you want to study. E.g. if I wanna be a computer scientist from MIT, I'll learn programming from the internet

Should I take toefl if I get a great score on sat Cuz I know someone who got into ivy league without taking toefl but sat and I have learned English since I got into school would not that be enough to waive toefl by getting a supportive letter from my school I guess the significance of toefl is to test your capability of learning in English as whole

Where are you from?
I'm from India and our high school does not offer AP classes. We have this choice in our junior year to choose from certain subjects (now the system has changed and there are no rigid sets) based off of your board exams that you take in sophomore year. Every set of subjects require a certain level of score to choose them. So as a junior, I take physics, chemistry, math, engineering graphics and English (aka PCM which is considered to be the toughest in our country because of how vast the syllabus of these subjects are here). And it is compulsory to study the same subjects in your senior year too. MIT is my dream college, I'm not worried about the SATs but the ecs. In India, it is really really hard to do ecs. Our system just isn't designed as that, our colleges do not have a holistic point of view. So our school life is way too different and it's really hard to do something extra. I'm working on a passion project and few other ecs that I'm extremely passionate about. How do I work my way into MIT?

Here in Portugal High school starts in the tenth grade and we have to chose an area of study. I chose science and the subjects I have are: biology, geology, chemestry, physics, portugese, math, english, p.e... We have some exams we take if we want to go to a portuguese college. However, I don’t think it is possible to take any of the tests I always ear about in this type of video...

Hello! I’m an American so i hope this helps: -volunteering: this is definitely not a requirement but is good to do, this is basically just helping out around your community (like helping at a public garden) or creating a small organization (like creating an event that gets donations for a certain cause). -extracurriculars: these are activities you do outside of school, they may be run by your school but they have to be out of school hours. This could be basketball, playing the piano, a club, etc. A lot of countries dont have the same types of afterschool stuff as America and theyll be understanding of that. -Application: For this you will have to get in contact with schools specific international applications, it will be different for every college. -APs/programs: APs are basically just the like hardest classes you can take at American schools. Hardly any schools abroad offer them and they know that, they just wanna see that you are taking challenging classes for your school.

I want to study art and get a decent scholarship yet how about the average students like me who doesn't have the most impressing gpa?... Does that lower my chances but I'm really into art and math and equations aren't just my thing but I'm good at other academic sections...

usually art schools tend to not really care about grades in NYU i am pretty sure instead of applying with your grades they ask for art portfolios and if you want to study photography you have to send in examples of your work, etc.
art schools most of the time dont care about gpa and good grades. and you also have schools for average students like Arizona State University or community colleges

Julie, you are very professional, but you really need to utilize a supplementary mic apparatus. I think you are just speaking into the computer mic, without any enhancements, which carries some reverb from the room and is definitely weak. I have to turn up almost all of your videos. As soon as a get the next video on my UA-cam it is too loud and I must turn the volume back down again.

Ofc u can still get into any university because if u noticed, most of the international students have different boards, the colleges understand not everyone studies ibdp and they will do your application checking according to ur board so dont worry and all the best

Hi Farah, yes they do accept igsce students not only from Egypt. I’m currently in a remotely similar situation ( I’m not an ig student but I am Egyptian). I recently started looking into this. But yes they do, so look further into it. Don’t give up, we’re in this together.

I am 17 ... a good student & basketball player .... preparing for the ielts.....i'm on maths brunch on high school(hardest brunch) ...In my country we have a general educational system so since 10 years I've been learning history & geography/maths /arabic/french/civil education(Public laws and stuf) and from 6 years in addition of those i've studying Physics (Chemistery-physics-mechanics.......) /English and in my current scholar year (last at high school) we have started Phylosophy....... Pennie Jager in the UK they have several centres where you can take sat/act test (you can’t take them in school) may be similar in Netherlands so a good idea to research if they have centres nearby
