I saw a video on UA-cam a lady used gel pens over wavy pencils. She used them as a base to stop the gel pen from bleeding through and pilling the paper.

Can you place your camera so we can see you coloring, maybe overhead? Your hand blocks the view. I love the AEN Art glitter pens from Amazon!
