From experience, the drone is terrible on the highway, and if I remember correctly between 1700-2000rpm around town. I ended up putting a muffler back on. In the future I will likely switch it to a Corsa muffler. At the end of the day Lexus V8's sound great, but this is a luxury rig. I enjoy it being quieter around town, when traveling, and when "sneaking" around offroad personally.
Sheeesh, that sounds very good!!! Especially with all 4 stock catalytic converters still on there, just imagine what high-flow cats would do to this truck (SUV). 😁
A proper way to straight pipe a modern cat required smaller displacement V8. Loud but doesnt clap. Thats what happens when you blend the left and right banks together. You get a smoother deeper more even sound.
This dude enjoyed this for about 3 days and then I'm sure he missed the stock refinement like I did(I put a muffler back on. The drone was aweful). If only someone made a moderately loud GX exhaust that had minimal to no drone. I think the Corsa muffler swap is the closest yet.
Own a 2023. Honestly this sounds pretty asinine/tryhard only because as any GX owner will tell you they’re pretty sluggish. When you get on the pedal stock there is a perfectly satisfying v8 rumble. This is the SUV equivalent of the gigant vtech exhausts on Honda hatchbacks
Own a 2018 460. The key to this engine is disabling the eco by driving in sport mode. The design of the engine is such that it performs well in the 5k rev range, the redline is more like a yellow of the old days. The difference is night and day bud.
It sounds much better than I expected. I've got to think the drone will be brutal.
I think magnaflow has an overland exhaust for the GX but i heard it drones alot at freeway speeds
I’ve got my 5.7L sequoia straight piped after the cats.
Sounds amazing, very similar to this but louder, but the drone is awful when traveling.

These GX 460’s are really growing on me, and the straight pipe sounds great🔥😁
dang it sounds literally like a muscle car i was not totally expecting straight pipes to make a V8 from Lexus that fricking loud at all
My Lexus LS460 does the same at idle. It’s straight piped, loud for about 30 seconds and then absolutely quiet. And then it ROARS when you step on it.
Would you do it again if had the choice? Or keep it at stock? Thanks
Sounds really deep with straight pipes 👌
never thought a straight piped v8 would sound this clean, it must be the cats keeping it tame
Not gonna lie I do like how it sounds deep
Really going to drone a lot. Will drive him crazy lol. Trust me, I used to have muffler delete and change it back.
we dont trust you 😂
I trust you. I tow an RV with my GX and the drone would be awful. I love keeping mine nice and quiet
Now thats a pretty SUV💯

Nice work! 😎🔨🤘🏻 Sounds pretty good.
Dang, that sounds better than what's on my tundra!

I wonder how it would haven't sounded with hi flo cats as secondaries with the resonators still on?

He will be back to stock after the drone torment
wouldnt do hi flows itll be extremely raspy it sounds great now if you did do hi flos youd have to put a reso or muffler on
Looks like the Lexus GX hadn't changed their bodystyle since 04
It’s been redesigned for 2024
Almost sounds like a Mercedes AMG V8
I had a tundra 4.6 with a black widow muffler it was LOUD
time to do mine now 😭
Sound good but with a vibrant resonator would be better
Lexus makes the best sounding V8 period .
Haha 🧢
I agree my 92 sc400 has the best sound.
Understated V8s. You say Lexus you think older Dentist and golfer. Not a brand that had that engine and the 5.0 (302)
I just got a 2016 GX. I aint do anything to it other than wheels/tires and a lift
Sounds like my neighbors lc500
How is he getting 20mpg??
4 cats, and it sounds that good? 😯
Will this pass smog in California?
No, just leave commiefornia
No just leave commifornia
💪💪💪💪💪
