"My 85th Birthday present!"

For an old pilot who has loved flying - particularly beautiful old biplanes like this Steaman - there could not have been a more perfect birthday present than this ride in "six eight zero hotel whisky" a beautifully maintained Stearman Trainer. Powered by a 300 HP engine this aircraft was a delight to fly! The pilot, Robbie Grice, flew several loops and rolls, even a roll off the bottom of a loop! He would talk me through each manouever and then I would do it myself! But once the aerobatics were over, the rest of the flight I just flew around, keeping in sight of the airfield, enjoying the handling of this beautiful aircraft! Robbie then performed a low pass over the field, and finally a beautiful sideslipped approach to a truly copy-book landing, his wheels wheels skimming over the grass in ground effect for perhaps a hundred feet or more before the actual touch-down.
