    EDIT: Hey all, I'm sorry the audio from our DSLR is only showing up in one ear for our headphone-watcher friends 😵‍💫. I hadn't noticed our microphone acted funky this week, and because I edit our videos using speakers, it hadn't been noticeable 😩Normally it'd be my instinct to delete & re-upload, but it takes 9 hours to upload a 4k video here from the cabin, so I'm trying to swallow my pride a bit and warn you that this will likely not be the last embarrassing editing mistake on my end... eeek. So sorry for the headache it must cause. You have my permission to watch the video embarrassingly loud in public and if ANYONE says ANYTHING, tell them to DM me their grievances and leave you alone!!!! 🤪 I'll keep my eye out for this to not happen again. Thanks for the heads-up & hope you have a great week!
    If you get to the end of the vid and see the problem we're facing, drop your advice below! We could sure use it!! 💯

      That's not an armrest, that's a miniature wall. It would make the seat feel "trapped" compared to the open style of the rest of the van. One thing I'm wondering about that seat though, I thought for sure it would be much wider, wide enough for two people.
      As for the CNC laser, I see that it's using rack and pinion. As long as it's properly aligned it's the best motion system in my opinion! I can't wait to see it in action!

      Hey guys! Have you considered "stowable" arm rests like a fold up (airplane style) or drop down (bus style)? Either way they go away when you don't need them.

      I was thinking small arms like your cab seats. Simple and open. Could be fixed, always out if you want simplicity.
      Picture a thin, strong piece of steel attached to the back of the chair, then it comes out as a flat mounting point for a better material over the arms like plastic or wood.

      No complaints about the sound, no complaints about anything, I think I am lucky to be able to be entertained, educated, and have hope installed from two delightfully, cat loving, space sharing, energetic artists. My thought on the bulky chair is armrests definitely needed, maybe some hinged pipes with retractable sliding somethings-or-other.... way less intrusive visually - I'm sure Ladi will work his engineering magic here.

    Love the new cat homes 💯 Ladi, you accomplished waaay more this week than I did. Gotta look at it like this -- the CNC machine, the new employee, the container home... these are all tasks that will result in multiplying your effectiveness and speed moving forward. Once you get these up and running, you're going to be 3x more productive. Never regret investing into productivity. Most important addition this week was the cat beds; a happy cat results in 5x prrrductivity boost.

    ARM RESTS
    I would suggest using the metal poles you used for the hand rail on the cabin stairs... 2 short upwards poles (black) then a cushioned platform for your arms.

    My idea would be to solve the arm rest dilemma with a stowaway armrest that is much the same style as your desktop /trays you have for the front seats. So an armrest(s) that fold up and possibly inwards from the side or even the bottom front. I’m relatively sure you (Ladi) can picture this in your head and also develop a working model without terrible difficulty. Good luck!

  • @brendariley8982

    A suggestion for the camper van chair: Maybe consider making it a foldable chair where it folds up out of the way, including arm rests that fold up or down depending on the situation. I have seen mini vans with foldable seats that fold into the floor compartment, and it's sorta like that, except maybe not into a compartment. Ladi can create anything, so I thought I would suggest this as an option.

    Wise choice to grow the team with the right people.
    About the armrests situation, since you like adjusting things, maybe armrests that can go up and down vertically. Integrating with the seat when down, providing support when up...

  • @wr4tune
    @wr4tune Рік тому

    The armchair is more transparent and beautiful with an armrest on a fragile metal frame. So my idea 💡 is this;
    For example, with two tubes, linked together with a hinge. The other side of the tube attached to the frame of the seat and the other tube has to be attached to the frame of the back support.
    So if the backrests moves backwards, the armrest also moves backwards and partly downwards, so it enables the person in the chair to continue using this armrest. This does means that the mountings of the armrests on both parts of the frames must also be able to turn during movement. The length of each tube determines the movement the armrest makes. The tube to the seat is shorter as the tube to the back.

    Build the armrest into the slideout table part the one you already have to the right of the sofa seat. Maybe you could make it rather wide like a second table leaf that pulls out at lower height than the one you already have, just right as armrest and to place a drink laptop whatever while sitting on your recliner.
    Towards the kitchen you coul make it „flip up“ from the kitchenwall. If you fix the armrests outside of the reclining chair they stay parallel to the floor even if the seat changes angle.
    Nice vid

    I would try out an armrest that can folded up (or down). Smaller profile, but still comfortable with a bit padding. A slightly longer couch could have fit you both (for movie cuddles - but that would have collided with the laptop table. Ah well you can't have it all.

    I love the dark / grey tones of the interior. I do wonder if all the soft surfaces in the van will absorb cooking odors though. As for the arm rests, can you attach them to the chair back like the ones in van seats? Weight/space etc. I would get rid of it from the van and make it into a cool chair for one of your other houses. Two bars on hinge points from the bottom of the chair....one bar hooked to the back of the chair parallel to the floor....when the chair extends, it should pull the arm rest lower (which would be more comfortable) That also leaves you a more open flow than a "wall" style armrest....

    So glad to see you investing in training more people for your team and even in that huge monster machine. I just know both will make your life much easier once the hard bit (training/install) is done. You can soon look forward to slightly less stress and more efficient work. Yay for you! 👏
    As for the recliner, I think maybe you should try to take inspiration from car seats, or maybe airplane seats, and have arms that move up and down so they're not visually in the way when the seat isn't in use but can be pulled into place when needed. Actually, you might even be able to have the arms push down flush with the seat bottom and then pull up and snap into place when needed instead. That might look better in the long run but might be more complicated to set up. Would give you more options on height of the arms though so it could be comfortable for almost anyone. Maybe could be as simple as the arm being a T shaped piece and having a bunch of adjustment holes that a simple dowel holds in place. Or you could get kinda lazy and repurpose some aluminum adjustable walking canes, possibly an old walker or medical shower seat would work (because they all usually have that spring pin adjustment and are meant to hold weight) for the height adjustment instead, so then you would only have to figure out a base to mount it and the actual armrest part. Only problem with that solution would be that you might have to secure them to the van floor so that it works well in every position and that could be tricky but you're smart enough to figure it out. 😉👍
    Keep your spirits up and your eyes on the prize. It's not too long now! I think the most complex part of the van you have left is probably the bathroom (if you're still going for the popup shower idea you had in the beginning) which shouldn't be too bad unless you're planning a recirculating shower (because those can be fussy to install and maintain but so useful sometimes to conserve water). Everything else is pretty much details after that. However, they do say that the Devil is in the details so get yourself some good matcha or green tea for the final push (because it's much better for you than coffee) and keep your energy up! 😁

    For armrests, I'd probably want to do something with metal arms, and have it be able to fold down flush with the seat. For the chair armrests, I'm thinking that fold down ones is going to be the best option - think armrests on the seats on a airplane. So when not in use, they can be stowed upright - allowing for the chair to be used as a stool/footrest, but when in use they fold down so can be usable when the seat is in its regular position or reclined.

    Margaret I'm sorry you cut yourself, I just wanted to say I prefer electrical tape to masking tape, it has better flexibility.
    Ladi an idea for the armrests, maybe you could make them like seats on airplanes that flip up out of the way when not being used? Like the cooking part of the video. The space in my kitchen is limited so I like seeing things that space. I didn't know that they make collapsible strainers. I'm definitely going to look for one. 👍🙂

    Ahojte! I just watched your burrito bed van tour and then I found out you are in CZ xD I wonder if you could answer one, well two questions, doesn't make you feel too exposed working in the cabin? And doesn't get too hot or cold in the van when this part is not separated and I presume not insulated? Keep the awesome work! And thanks!

    Why don't you do something like your driver and passenger chairs with a similar fold down arm rest? You could have it complement those chairs, fold it down when you want it or its out of the way when you dont want it.

    Why don't you do drop down arms like you have on the driver's seat?

    What about a adjustable arm rest! Or a removable arm rest that could convert into a table top!

    Did anyone else notice a lot of the clips have voice audio only in the right ear? but the music comes out of both. Might have been a camera issue?

    Why not make the arm rests like the arm rests on the captain’s chairs? Make them so they lift up out of the way when not needed? Yep I know this is far more complicated and much more work. Good luck. I’m sure your imagination will solve this problem.
